I think this is exactly what Byram wants but he won’t get the opportunity here with Dahlin and Power. He wants / needs to be “the guy” on PP1 to put up some numbers that get him in the $9M discussion. His career has been second fiddle to Makar and Dahlin so you can’t blame him for looking for opportunity. I think it has nothing to do with the city and culture.

Cuylle was my dream, but guys like him Kolesar, McBain, Foligno, Sherwood are missing from our top 9 and IMO we need someone like that.

We’ve got Bo for two more years regardless, right? The Goal is to make the playoffs before then so no need to panic trade. My return would be a power forward with nastiness and a defenseman with attitude. If not, he stays a Sabre.

I’m guessing when he came on board KA and TP developed a 5 year build through the draft plan. I think the 91 point season was unexpected. That said I believe after this year we’ll have a new GM as i think since TP was part of the plan, he may feel an obligation to KA. I could be nuts but it’s the only explanation I can come up with.

So essentially we have $6M to spend? I’d rather KA not trade Bryson so we’re not shopping big names.

Sign Byram and get Cuylle and I’d be content.

Did KA shed salary so he could match a Byram offer? Could that be why he can’t make a move? Or is that giving him too much credit?

Jake Allen at $1.8M stays in NJ.

I find the “too critical” reason hard to believe. Then again I find most everything out of the media hard to believe.

Harrington on XM yesterday said Sabres would like to keep him at least on a short term deal. Was mentioned by someone the market not as strong as originally thought. Issues are Byram wanting to be a 1 and money Sabres have tied up in the D already. Byram could increase his value significantly playing a couple years with Dahlin.

I became enamored by his 460 hits last year. Next closest was Olivier at 305. Don’t follow Vancouver so could that be incorrect? Regardless I agree we’d have a need at D but figured we could pick up a stay at home guy in the $2-$3M range.

Now go get Sherwood and Demko from Vancouver and we’re in the playoffs. That’s the kind of trade I’d be okay with Byram and ?

Loved his “I bring my heart” answer. Even though he’s 4 years away if he has a solid development track it does allow us to trade RHDs in the system ahead of him.

I’d like to see Miles Wood in a Sabres jersey. Was hoping we’d have made a move before Colorado picked him up.

If Byram gets traded don’t we revert to needing a top 4 D man again? Unless we get an offer that knocks our socks off there’s no need to trade him.

I imagine TP’s daughter is getting an earful of “you need a better face to the franchise” at the governors meeting. This could justify kicking KA up to a behind the scenes role (POHO?) and promoting Jarmo to GM and new face to the public. A strong off season could facilitate that.
