I think they trade a defenseman, probably Joker as unfortunately Bryson is worthless. I think they surprise us with a name UFA forward shortly and trade Oloffson Trading for a goalie? I’m not sure it’ll happen? I could see them thinking that the upgrades of the UFA defensive defenseman will help the goalies but this would be a dangerous gamble. Interesting trade for a goalie, not really discussed is with Boston. They’re in desperate need of cap space. I could see them trading one of their goalies to us for UPL and a prospect.

I’m honestly not sure what winnioeg’s needs are. If these players would even be attractive to them, though Rosen would be. I wouldn’t hate using the 2024 1st too as I’m expecting that pick to be in the 20s and our prospect pool is already tops in the league, or close

I don’t agree. Too many rostered players. One could be eliminated by sending Comrie to Rochester but 9 NHL defensemen is too many and KA never talks like he did about a player (Oloffson) without following through by trading him

Good point, and his roster spot would also be replaced with an entry level contract (say Savoie for instance) at just under $1m all in all, KA’s approach here of signing too many NHL contracts is puzzling unless trades are coming. The takeaway here is we could afford a Helleybuyck/Gibson type goalie via the proper trade and still have plenty of cap left if we wanted to get one of the top remaining UFA forwards: Kane, Tarasenko, Tatar, Bertuzzi or Dumba for D. in saying that I don’t think KA will be allowed to spend to the cap ceiling

I don’t think there’s an UFA goalie worth it to sign, and certainly not for a price of $4m. I see Jones out there but really don’t want him. any new goalie probably comes via a trade

Currently we’re at 5.8 over with 2 extra NHL contacts than permitted. So let’s say we do the following trade: UPL, Oloffson, Joker and Rosen for Hellebuyck. That’s 6.1 of money coming in and 8.1 going out. We’re now at the correct amount of nhl rostered players and have 7.9m in cap space. After we send comrie down to Rochester we’ll have $10m. If we trade for Gibson instead of Helleybuyck using similar players, the cap would be at +9.6m. we’re very healthy cap wise and being over the rostered player limit something has to be in the works trade wise for a goalie.

I would include Rosen or our 2024 1st (hope it’s a late one) Rosen, UPL, Joker for Hellebuyck. They may need two goalies, so they can have Comrie if they want him too

Correct MAF makes much more sense. MAF for UPL and Joker

Trade Rosen, joker, Oloffson and UPL for Hellebuyck. A lot of problems solved with a trade like this. Winnipeg needs bodies too

Agreed. Are you willing to go 5 and $6.5 per for him? Is he worth it especially considering you’re probably giving up a 2024 1st for him. I wouldn’t and I don’t think KA will either. Just sign gudas as a UFA, 3 years $5 per, maybe $6

He’ll grow another inch or two. Fortsen said his Dad is 6’3” his mom 5’10” he very well can end up being 6’3”

I sign korpisalo as our 1B goalie i trade Oloffson and our 2nd 2nd round pick for Tanev I trade UPL for a 3rd rounder BPA at #13 and at #39 (I think it’s 39). These draft picks are too far away to target positions. Somebody we don’t expect to fall will fall to #13 and #39. It always happens. kulich last year and JJ the year before are perfect examples.

Have never heard that about him. And with 1 year left on contract (I was corrected when I incorrectly said 2) he wouldn’t be all that expensive. He would help solve the PK problem and the lack of quality defensive defenseman

Tanev shoots right, has 2 years left on a very reasonable contract and is from Toronto. Analytics say he’s elite defensively only behind Macavoy in the entire NHL. He’d be perfect for Powers. He provides very little offensively but that is pretty irrelevant. Oloffson and a 2nd for Tanev is more than a fair offer (maybe too much). CGY needs wingers desperately.

If not Hanafin (who’s really only average in the d-zone) how about Tanev? He has a 10 team no trade but is ELITE defensively, which is exactly what we need. He is 33 but has 2 years left on a very reasonable contract

Something like Rosen, a 2023 2nd and a 2024 2nd May get it done. The 2024 might have to be a conditional 1st. he’d have to be willing to sign an extension with Buffalo, something like 6 years at $7m per. Calgary prob has to trade him as he’s in the final year of his contract and has told them he’s not resigning

I think harts ceiling is very similar maybe below Levi’s. I would rather sign a UFA costing no assets and trade UPL for a mid round pick then pay significant assets for Hart. An extended Hellebuyck is a different story - I’d pay what it takes for him.

I think he can sign a korpisalo type that costs no assets other than $$. And the cap is no issue for at least a few years. Korpisalo would be an huge upgrade over UPL and Comrie and probably an upgrade over Levi is his stage of development. Granted, if you sign him you have to trade UPL and probably hope Comrie clears waivers to Rochester.
