Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft
Turbo44 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
You write like Byram being here is a bad thing. I think it’s fine as he plays well with Dahlin. I’m more than okay with keeping Byram and signing Lyon. All that would be left to do is sign a LW like Granlund or suter -
Same could be said if Lyon signs with us immediately. I imagine the gm’s talk “generalities” with the agents well before noon today. “Would your LW from Dallas entertain offers from Buffalo today at noon.” If not move on to suter in Vancouver, if so “great you might see an offer for 2 years 12 million from us at lunchtime. talking generalities without naming names

To add to this Rust plays RW which we don’t need as we have Tage and Tuch there. Should only be looking at centers or LWers. Granlund and suter are perfect fits: solid Character guys who put up nice point totals - these should be the targets -
Ahh so Kyrou isn’t coming here as he’d be here already. Still expecting Byram to be traded, probably for an underwhelming return if Adams stays to form

Rust’s NMC ends today, wondering if we see a Byram for Rust trade? Not my favorite idea: creates a hole on D and adds to the strong RW pool while not adding to C or LW where we need a talent infusion -
WGR is reporting it as more of a sure thing - Lyon is the guy FLA rode into the playoffs - couple of years ago. He’s a solid player who can push UPL, better than Reimer - maybe better than UPL tbh. Won’t cost much, expected contact 2 years 1.8m per year. Bunched with samsonov and Georgiev as the 2nd best goalie available behind Allen. He’s definitely my 2nd favorite behind Allen and Allen will cost between 2 and 3x, so should be a good value signing

Makes sense and pretty solid choice given the thin goalie market The journeyman is known as a good goaltending partner and a reliable No. 2. He moves around the crease well and has put together some strong NHL stretches, basically getting the Florida Panthers into the playoffs with a hot run at the end of 2022-23, when he briefly supplanted Sergei Bobrovsky. Lyon made 74 appearances for Detroit across the last two seasons. now, trade Byram for Kyrou, sign Gavrilov (unlikely), Lindgren or Orlov (I really like him, some do not) and that’s a really decent offseason

Great for for us but too pricey I’m sure. Can’t have 3 d making 30million I wouldn’t think. Forces our hand on Byram too of course

Sticking with Granlund but choice 2 is Pius Suter

10. I think the Sabres roster is mostly set with one or two more minor additions to come before the focus shifts to re-signing their restricted free agents. This is unacceptable -
Don't forget Oloffson
-
Not quite correct - The Bills could always compete financially because all 32 teams divide TV revenues equally which is the majority of the owners profits
-
Granlund - isn't it obvious
-
Seems reasonable - like the Jeannot idea a lot if we can get rid of another 3rd/4th liner. Pernic doesn’t make as much sense as the last thing we need now is another RHD
-
And it was a bad UFA pool to begin with. The list I looked at had Oloffson at 22 and skinner at 30. That’s a sad list
-
The offseason so far - Are the Sabres better?
Turbo44 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I think Dahlin is a tough beaaatch and would hold up fine. And, more importantly, if we were playing FLA in the playoffs wouldn’t it have to be in the conference finals? Crazy friggin talk man……dream big -
Isn’t that why it’s a sign (by Toronto) and a trade to Vegas?
-
Let’s have fun and make some Sabres predictions for the UFA next few days My prediction: Granlund lw/c 2/12millon Ilya Samsonov g 2/4 million Dmitri Orlov lhd 3/18 million Byram traded for a 2026 1st rd pick to ANA, lottery protected makes for a much better/much more experienced team and Granlund and orlov are character guys
-
There you go, KA certainly likes throwing away 2nd rounders for marginal returns. Only good thing is I’ve liked his recent 3rd rounders: strbak and the mean kid this year
-
Rosen and his 0G, 1A -6 in 25 nhl games doesn’t have gm’s salivating his AHL numbers are okay but nothing great he’s just a partial wiff of a 1st rd pick ….it happens
-
Even Kevin isn’t capable of something that bad. i say Byram re-upped for 2/$12: Granlund signed for the same 2/$12 and Ilya Samson’s 2/$5m
-
Yep I’m wrong - sorry/ read and article that had it wrong
