Great - video looked like it went in the goal well before time expired …but not going to argue
-
Looks like he scored before time ran out - what happened?

Rochester getting badly misplayed but refs bad again. 2-0 Utica and Amerk guying literally tackled going to the net to get a pass. Right in front of ref who ignores it and Utica takes over and scores 15 seconds later. Same ref then calls a much less blatant hook on Rochester 20 seconds later. 4-0 Utica game over

R2 might be one of those players who’s great in the AHL but can’t make it in the NHL. He deserves a shot though and hope he doesn’t hit back to Finland - he has to be better than the Eakins on the team and maybe and asplund type with scoring ability??

Sir tallness is becoming a superstar before our very eyes. Then when you think you can’t love him more, he goes out and defends skinner. This season is ending too soon -

The good thing for the Sabres is Portillo is very close friends with Dahlin and at the least, knows Power well. He can also sign next year, after the college season, and burn one year of the ELC which he can't do if he signs elsewhere -
Like this rationale a lot especially considering how deep the draft is. With only 6 picks, fewer get cut to the taxi sqaud
-
Both are doing things rarely seen by 20 year olds in the AHL (though Quinn may be 21??). Future is bright - KA needs ot add a legitimate goalie next near

Here's RJ's call. The pure joy in his voice saying "Danny Gare" is awesome https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=10154287090542954

It's not one of his "super famous" calls played over and over again, but, I always remember one he called in the playoffs (maybe 1974 or 75) but it wasn't the fog goal; " Off the boards to Martin, Martin, a long pass to Robert, he would have been gone. Here goes Robert, going in on goal, going in on goal, he shoots, he scores! Robert, Rene Robert .... and the Sabres have won, the Sabres have won. Robert, shooting it on a breakaway, and it's all over, Buffalo has won." That was my first memory of RJ and obviously, I still have the call memorized. The other one I remember vividly (though not in verbatim) is RJ calling Danny Gare's 50th goal. The one when Martin (also going for his 5oth) shot and Gare scored on the rebound. Gare got a hattrick that game to get 50, while unfortunately Martin, only needing 1 goal for 50 didn't get it. Here is Ted Darling's call on TV but I was listening to RJ call it on radio

Why is Portillo a UFA in a year? If correct, that's not good -
If the Sharks buy out Kane, and free up $7m how about: William Eklund, Nicholas Meloche, Tomas Hertl (cash dump but a solid player that could help shelter Cozens and Middlestadt) and 2022 1st for Jack Hertl has one year left on contract at $5.5m, could fetch a decent return at the trade deadline but does have a modified NMC. Sabres were rumored to love Eklund
-
I agree. Power could play in the NHL but I see him, Johnson and Benier each playing one more year at Michigan. Hughes is the one that worries me - he could be the best of the draft but has a broken foot
-
Nah, Power could play in the NHL next year. He's playing top line minutes at the worlds now, Not the top professionals but still professionals and he's looking fine as an 18 year old playing there.
-
He has a ton more hockey sense and transitional game than Jones. Jones is a Risto type, Power is like neither of them
-
I doubt it. I firmly believe Cozens>Beniers, so I don't see us drafting Beniers. I like Eklund a little better than Beniers, though I know we're not taking Ehlund 1oa. Hughes and Clarke could easily end up being better than Power. Not an ideal year to be picking 1oa

Arizona would be taking in more $$ than sending out, not happening
