  1. Great, another "missive of doom" thread.
  2. I mentioned in a game thread some weeks ago that I was impressed with his all-around game now--he's becoming a complete player.
  3. Thompson has really upped his game, at both ends of the ice.
  4. Great, they can bring him up to play while the team burns.
  5. Who is this Fiddler? He's been tearing it up recently.
  6. Looks like Ruff has had enough of those three playing together as practice lines in Vegas are the same: Cozens up to first line; Tuch to second with Quinn and Kulich; and JJP with Krebs and Benson.
  7. I donโ€™t worry about him scoring or not, heโ€™s got a great shot and it will come. I think heโ€™s having difficulty or lacks the desire to play a game that requires defensive responsibility. I think the once prolific kid line is great in a wide open game, but their preferred style of play is currently killing the team: Quinn -13, Cozens, -8, and peterka -7.
  8. He's got the best of both worlds. On the one hand, this may be the only place he will get significant time on the first line, boosting his stat line to one of his best (he won't reach his "Cozens year" of 2017/18), which also makes him much more valuable($$) next year; on the other, he will certainly be a strong candidate to trade in the spring, and I'm sure he'd be very happy if he got the Okopso treatment since he's never won a cup.
  9. First Buffalo and now Edmonton. His career seems to be "between two stalls".
  10. Oh what to do with the playoff jinxโ€ฆ? https://www.yardbarker.com/nhl/articles/oilers_face_catch_22_with_recently_scratched_jeff_skinner/s1_16454_41488910
  11. Wahlberg with 2G and 2A in Sweden's 8-1 win over Kazakhstan.
  12. I'm sure the Leafs are looking forward to hosting the Sabres again this Saturday.
  13. I was thinking about this as well. The Flyers typically just flat out-skate the Sabres. They need to match the intensity and get better goal tending to win.
  14. With the Sabres, Skinner was most productive on the first line with Tage and Tuch. I'm guessing he's not on the line with McDavid... He's JAG when he's not with some top line players. On another random stat note, since the Sabres 0-3 start, where they had 1 gpg, they are averaging 4 gpg.
  15. Nice. Iโ€™ve been hoping to see that Cozens line back together again to see if they can reignite their chemistry. Iโ€™ve also wanted to see Krebs center some better offensive talent.
  16. Gilbert looked like a liability at times out there, so Iโ€™m guessing 1 of those 2 will dress Monday
  17. Looking at the schedule, there's no reason that the Sabres can't take 7 or 8 out of the next 10 games to finish out November.
  18. It took 14 games, but the Sabres finally have a positive goal differential, +3.
  19. Interesting comments by Ruff:
  20. Maybe Adams can trade for the Jets' back up? He's got a .915 save %.
  21. I'll take DeLuca for $500 Alex. [They'd certainly be in a much better position using that definition.]
  22. A couple comments from attending last night's game: As noted by several, a great second period, but the Panthers did their thing to get that third goal in the final 2-3 minutes. Would've been nice to start the 3rd even. I was shocked to look up at the stats in the second and see the Sabres dominating face-offs, which continued until the end of the game. I noticed Krebs centering Cozens and Quinn in the third a few times. As someone said above, I guess it was because NAK played poorly with them. However, I'd really like to see this stick for a few games to see if Krebs can get those two started. Actually, I'm of the mind that they should put JJP back with them to see if their chemistry can be rekindled. Cozens continued to do some bonehead stuff last night. He held the puck a couple of times trying to figure out what to do only to turn it over, one of which led to a goal I believe. Not sure who it was on the PK, but he had plenty of time to shoot the puck out, choosing to send it along the board too weakly, and it was kept in, leading to goal 4 and game over. All in all, I believe IF the Sabres can play .500 or a little better until the end of year, I think they will get better through experience, setting up for a run at the playoffs. I (have to) believe Cozens and Quinn will eventually turn things around, helping that push.
