Det picked up a bunch of free agents but how do you know what's gonna happen in the locker room? Do these guys like each other? Good work ethic? etc. We know our guys get along in the room and are coming up together. That's realy important over a long grind of a season. I'd give the edge to us right now.

The almost trades are frustrating. Almost had the 7th pick and a goalie, almost had jvr and a pick or prospect.

If it's an unprotected 1st I could be tempted. Read an article that basically his entire core has to be rehabbed and he's just starting to ramp up the training. Likely on IR to start the season. If it causes his retirement he just becomes one of those trades to teams for the cap floor. That first could be very valuable but I'd think they want to see how Ellis injury progesses. As for taking JVR the guy can put up some points but he plays no defense so he's essentially a lesser talented Skinner.

So I've seen talk about how Kane made Debrincat and he can't reproduce that in Ottawa. Well wouldn't we want similar result from say Cozens? What if he can turn Cozens into a ppg type player for the next couple seasons and accelerate his growth? Would have two legit top lines in the entire league. Olofson, a first and maybe Portillo or Peterka? Quinn is untouchable to me. Sign Kane to 3 year extension.

Goalies take forever to develop and usually are nhl ready around age 24 or so. 6-7 years this kid is gonna bounce around
