Very nice. Let’s finally have some solid goaltending for an extended length of time. UPL-Levi should give them a chance to win almost every night for the foreseeable future.
-
I don’t understand this at all
-
Verbeek loves size and snarl. Wahlberg will have to be included. And he is probably the prospect the Sabres shouldn’t move as he provides what they don’t have.
-
The Size debate is even more ridiculous at the goalie position. I watched Day 2 of the draft and one of the comments for a goalie that was just drafted was “He doesn’t have ideal size for a goalie at 6’2”😳 The biggest issue is NHL scouts don’t even know what they are looking at when they scout goalies. The fallback now is to just draft the biggest kid and pray he works out.

On the topic of our need for a top-6 upgrade
Flashsabre replied to Archie Lee's topic in The Aud Club
“But according to NHL Insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period and NHL Network, speaking this weekend on the Hello Hockey podcast, he noted that everything is on the table in Cow Town, even potentially a complete teardown: There are some people in the Flames organization that just want to tear it down and do a proper rebuild, and there are others that understand that's probably the right way to go. They'd like to get some young NHL caliber players or guys that are just about to make that jump. So if they do go a rebuild route, I get the sense that it's more along the lines of an 'escalated' rebuild where it's not just first round picks and kids that were just drafted... My assumption, based on other teams I'm talking to out there is that they'd be looking for guys just about to make the jump to The Show. So whether [they get offers on] Naz(em Kadri), or (MacKenzie) Weegar, or (Jonathan) Huberdeau or (Mikael) Backlund or whoever, they're willing to listen. “ Kadri and Weegar or Rasmus Andersen would be just what the doctor ordered.😀 Kulich, Östlund, Johnson, Krebs, Joker, Greenway for money purposes, 2025 1st all on the table. -
So people really want to bring in the the cheap shotting version of Erik Johnson at this point?
-
But those hits weren’t dirty cheap shots so they don’t count towards being tough😳
-
What a ridiculous article. He has no reasons for it being overrated other than that is his opinion. There is no such thing as a guaranteed prospect pool. It is a collection of young players who no one is sure how they will turn out. Google top prospect pools from prior years and you see most of these prospect projections don’t pan out. To say one prospect pool is overrated and others are not is ludicrous. Id trade Savoie for McLeod again. You are getting a young guaranteed NHLer in McLeod who still has upside.

Zegras/Farabee- Thompson-Tuch Peterka-Cozens-Quinn Benson-McLeod-Zucker Beck M-Lafferty-NAK would be a solid forward group especially the way Ruff would want to utilize them. For people dumping on Farabee he put up 50 points while not scoring for 20 games and a lot of that was 5 on 5 points. He would produce with Tage and Tuch and replace Skinner’s production. -
There has been a rumor floating around that Philly wants Krebs and Sabres want Farabee. Now Ek at hockeybuzz is reporting it. Usually I would say that would completely kill it but his one real source is the Flyers organization. Krebs+pic or prospect for Farabee would be a nice deal to setup the lineup.
-
If he can turn into a Varada like player that would be a nice piece.
-
Until a goalie is 23-24 years old you are not sure what you have. He’s got a lot of runway. Hope he stays healthy and puts a couple good years together.
-
I think World Championships Cozens is who we will see and I think Ruff and Appert will do wonders for Cozens.
-
I think Wahlberg plays the wing with Östlund. And who knows if Kulich or Wahlberg will still be Sabres if they pull the trigger for a top 6 forward. But if no prospects are moved he probably gets more ice time in Finland. Jokinen has moved on as coach though so I wonder if that gives the Sabres pause.

Trade: C Ryan McLeod - Oilers for Matt Savoie

There is a story going around online that Savoie missed curfew the night before his debut and then blamed Krebs for it. They were not going to play him at all but his parents flew in for the game so they gave him the least amount of ice time possible. The Sabres sent him back to juniors. Again, a story I have read but there are no sources to back it up so take it with a grain of salt. -
Lance is their mouthpiece Anything they want out there goes through Lance

So the guy on hockeybuzz that has been right on things says they are in on Zegras and named Wahlberg as a piece too. Who knows but something maybe up. Much like Marner makes Matthews go with his playmaking I think Zegras can do that for Tage or Cozens. I think he helps the PP big time too. Zegras hasn’t had much to play with in Anaheim I think he would thrive with some of the offensive talent in Buffalo. I think it’s time to make a move like this and go for it. This would put them in playoff contention. I would go: Zegras Tage Tuch JJ Cozens Quinn but JJ Tage Tuch Zegras Cozens Quinn would be exciting too.
-
I would rather give up Kulich than Wahlberg. Wahlberg has the size skill combo that is rare and needed on this team. He is the guy Verbeek would target though. Anaheim have to make some moves to get to the floor. They need to take back salary. Greenway would probably go the other way. As people have mentioned, Zegras would be a great playmaker for Tage/Cozens and would really help the PP. He can also shift to the middle if injuries arise.

We have cap room and a spot -- to get Tkachuk, what would you now give up?

People haven’t seen Malenstyn and don’t understand his game. I bet he becomes a huge fan favourite once people understand his role and see what he can do. -

You know who is good at zone entries…McLeod. -
Vatrano is an interesting option. One year left, had a huge year in Anaheim, can score, plays hard.

Is McLeod KA’s Jochen Hecht trade?
