GDT: Calgary Flames @ Buffalo Sabres 1:00 PM MSG, ESPN+, WGR550

Get a real run going here. Put yourselves back in a spot. Not every game is going to go the way you want. Find a way to win. They are playing a style that will be successful in the regular season and playoffs if they can get there. And give some credit to Vladar. I thought he was tremendous today. Not a ton of shots but most were high danger. -

WWE Smackdown in Buffalo tonight. Saw Dawkins in the crowd with Iâm sure some other Bills but didnât know who.

Some people didnât like the Rosen pick so no matter what he does the narrative will be he sucks to those people. Both Kulich and Helenius have scored again tonight. Terrible Awful Rosen has two assists.đ Edit: Brutal Rosen added a goal for a 3 point night. What a jokeđ

The puck is a grenade on Cozens stick. He just canât think quickly enough. He is the ultimate react player. He canât think too much or his game goes down the drain. If Quinn can find his game and Benson can stay healthy on that line it should calm Cozens down. -

Biggest win in quite a while. Chased the best goalie in the league. Signs of life from Cozens and Quinn. Third line has been very good this season. I think Muel and Joker should get comfortable in the press box. Solid all around effort. They are constructed as a solid team as long as the second line can produce. -
Helenius is the player who will be a 2nd line centre in a few years. Kulich is a winger as is Cozens.
-
What an amazing concept. Bring in a seasoned vet who can still produce and not force a kid to magically figure it out in the pros. This should have been the concept 5 years ago for this team instead of the washed guys they have paraded in here year after year. Zucker has been great so far. Zucker McLeod Greenway has been a very good 3rd line for them

Worst start since 2017 as Sabres predicted faceplant comes true
Flashsabre replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
The 2nd line centre has 4 points in 13 games. The 2nd line RW has 2 points in 12 games. Here lies the biggest issue with this team having any type of consistency. The 1st line has been a good 1st line. The 3rd line has been tremendous and the 4th line has been solid. The 2nd line has been a complete black hole that this team canât overcome. I have no idea what is wrong with Cozens and Quinn but if they donât fix it soon they need to address it outside the organization. No more excuses and growing pains. -

STOP THE RUN!!! This is the Baltimore game all over again

When people point to Adams for this failure instead of Pegula ask yourself what other owner would put a guy with no front office experience in charge of their franchise. Pegula doesnât trust NHL people so he put in charge the guy who was running the rink that would listen and do whatever Pegula says. There is one constant in the going on 14 years of no playoffs, ownership.
-
Change the HC. Reshape the bottom 6, nothing has changed at all. Cozens and Quinn are completely lost. IDK what the answer is. Just not good enough yet again. A new owner and FO would be a start. Bringing back Ruff and keeping all the other coaches was the first red flag that they arenât serious about winning. All the cap space is the second sign. Either Pegula is handcuffing Adams or Kevyn is incompetent. Problem is who would take the job? Adams does and says whatever Pegula wants and Terry doesnât trust NHL people so whatâs the answer? Moving Adams to another position and making Karmanos the GM seems par for the course. No extra money spent. Just donât Adams make a panic move and trade Helenius or Wahlberg for and underwhelming vet. Its just so hard to stay invested at all when this team gives you no reason to.

Bowen Byram- After a tough start, continues to improve
Flashsabre replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
So this thread isnât about how good Bo Byram is or isnât. itâs about people being pissy that Mitts was moved. Got it. Make the thread about that then. Saying Byram isnât a good player is just a bad take. -
Well good to hear that Adams is looking to add. What he is able to add is the million dollar question. The teams around the Sabres all seem to be stalling out. If they can fix the 2nd line they have as good of a shot as anyone to make a run to the playoffs. I prefer a 2nd line centre but an impact winger would work too. If the Isles continue to slide does Brock Nelson become available? UFA after season.
-
Itâs not about the poor results of late itâs that he doesnât have the smarts/hockey IQ to be a 2nd line centre. When he has to think with the puck on his stick it is a problem.
-
Isles shut out 2-0 by Columbus Wings lose 6-2 to Jets.
-
What we really need is a 2nd line centre and move Cozens to the wing.
-
I agree. The teamâs failure has been in hiring quality people to run the franchise. The problem is when you let failure last too long then it becomes a cycle you canât escape. Players like ROR, Eichel, Reinhart were and are great players but they have to be in the right situation, surrounded by quality players who make the team successful. They were not put in that situation here and then timelines donât match up and players want to move on. This is probably the first year in a long time that the FO tried to actually build a team that can be competitive night in and out. Why, because Lindy came in with a vision and they followed it. The only thing that gets Buffalo off no trade lists is winning and stability over a long period. Itâs going to take a lot of work.
-
The other factor is the draft. In the NFL you get an entire crop of new talent to walk in and join the roster each season. In the NHL you draft a crop that is 2-3 years away from a potential roster spot. NFL can plug holes much easier than NHL teams and as others have said, itâs easier to get rid of players you can cut mid contract.

GDT: Panthers @ Sabres 10/28/24, 7:00 PM EDT; MSG, ESPN+, WGR

Panthers D corps is their weak link. Get in on the forecheck and pressure them. Play physical. And keep the PP results coming. -
Man Jets fans and prognosticators are going through it right now.đ Listened to a few of them and reality has set in.
