  1. I wanted Rossi too but Quinn is a star prospect as well. 52 goals in junior driving his own line. If the guy can be a 40 goal scorer who is strong defensively then that is a star player.

  3. The link is much stronger than that. “The Red Wings, of course, have the fourth pick despite having by far the league’s worst record this season. The team already has a relationship with Perfetti. Detroit’s amateur scouting director, Kris Draper, is partners with Brandon Bordeaux, whose family has billeted Perfetti for the last two seasons, Wings senior vice president Jimmy Devellano and former Detroit goalie and Red Wings TV analyst Chris Osgood have an ownership stake in the Spirit. And Perfetti has been working out with former Detroit conditioning coach Pete Renzetti.“
  4. Drysdale has also interviewed 3 times with Detroit

Which goalie are you trading #8 for? Which goalie is worth a top 10 pick and is going to singlehandedly propel this team? There are a ton of quality goalies available this offseason. Sign one or trade for one from a team trying to dump salary. Fix the defensive structure and the team will be much more successful.
  6. Whoever the Sabres pick at #8, some people will bitch about the pick while others will complain they should have traded it😀

From Elliotte Friedman I wouldn’t get my hopes up for those wishing the Sabres trade#8. They will improve the team without moving #8. DRAFT DEALS A pseudo “trade deadline” arrives somewhere around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Teams holding picks in the top half of a draft that features multiple prospects with high-end potential aren’t making those selections available via trade, but there could be some movement in the bottom half. Toronto (15), Montreal (16), New Jersey (18 or 20) and Ottawa (28, plus four more picks in Wednesday’s second round) are among those willing to parlay a pick into immediate help if it makes sense. Those are valuable commodities in a league where cap space and controllable assets have become king. With a flat cap of $81.5-million for the foreseeable future, we’ve seen the likes of Olli Maatta and Nick Bjugstad basically given away in recent trades that freed up more operating room for Chicago and Pittsburgh, respectively. Actually parting with an asset? That should land you an even bigger name.

Who is this mythical player you are trading #8 for?
  9. Lehner signs 5 year deal with Vegas. No one is touching Fleury at $7 million. They might have to buy him out. The goalie market is absolutely flooded this offseason. Definitely a good year to upgrade in net.

“The primary goal, from an amateur scouting perspective, is simple: Select the players who best project to make an impact at the NHL level. Within that objective exists a goal to find players who fit Adams' organizational vision - namely, high-character individuals who are invested in reaching their potential.” With the 8th pick the Buffalo Sabres are proud to select from the Ottawa 67s, Marco Rossi.
  11. Debrusk and Rask’s names are out there and apparently Adams likes Matt Gryzlek. Maybe Bruins are trying to move salary to bring Krug back.
  12. If the stars align and the Sabres draft Rossi at 8 I have a feeling he could play this year behind Eichel and Staal. Craig Button stated Lafreniere and Rossi are the two players he sees playing in the NHL next season. The kid would be a great long term line-mate for Skinner. Tremendous playmaker and very good defensively. Could let Skinner freelance. Great the face off dot.
  13. I see a ton of people saying Rossi won’t be around at 8 but I can see it easily. Rossi has been my guy and the one I hope they take. If both Drysdale and Rossi are there at 8 that would be something. I would be disappointed if they passed on Rossi but not furious if the pick is Drysdale.
  14. Has anyone watched Marc Staal play the last couple years? Just because he is Eric’s brother doesn’t mean he would be a good fit.

The Sabres just turned over their entire front office and scouting. Wheeler has no insight on what they are thinking.

Who is saying that? Adams says he loves hockey sense, character and skill. Rossi has all of them in spades.

The Ducks I am most scared of taking Rossi. NJ has Hughes and Hischier. A third small centre seems redundant. I could dee them going for a dman or sniping winger for those two centres to play with.
  18. Hypotheticl: Vegas calls and wants to trade Fleury to open up cap space. They will retain salary (How much can one team retain) and take hutton. What is the sweetener to make it happen? Ideally for me: Fleury (salary retained)+Tuch for Hutton+middling prospect or mid round pick. Probably a non starter but if we are helping them wih Fleury I want something of substance back. I would be willing to move Mitts if Vegas retains enough salary and included Tuch. Tuch, Marshessault and McNabb are pieces I could reasonably see them moving on from for the right offer.

Perfetti is a heck of a prospect but I always prefer Rossi because he is responsible in his own zone, great at the faceoff dot and is incredibly driven to get better.
  20. Goaloffson played some RW in Sweden. Having his one timer on the right side would be a benefit at even strength.
  21. Or they could get both: oloffson Eichel Kessel Skinner Staal Reinhart Kahun Cozens Fast Kessel isn’t my first choice but for Laaksonan and a 2nd I would take him. Playing with Eichel he would bounce back. He didn’t have a great centre in Arizona to play with. And moving Reinhart to play with Staal and Skinner would give them 2 solid scoring lines.
