  1. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/insider-trading-sabres-mulling-a-variety-of-trade-scenarios-involving-taylor-hall~2171089 Dreger talks teams looking at a trade and then extension for Hall. Sounds like return would be higher. Don’t count out that 1st rounder yet.
  2. This is when they need to be talking to his agent, today. Is he interested in staying around? What does a contract going to look like? If the answer is no then you shop him now. He will return a pretty good piece and teams (Leafs) would be looking for him for a playoff run. I like him but if he is intent on walking out the door then get an asset for him. If this whole thing is going to be blown up then he isn’t going to stick around or really be necessary if it is rebuild 2.0.
  3. Sabres have $1 million in cap space. Ghost costs $4.5 million. Who is not doing simple math here.
  4. When you watch him play he reminds me exactly of Quinn
  5. Rick Dudley, Mike Gillis, Eric Tulsky leaving Carolina to join the Sabres and after watching Justice League, Adams using a mother box to bring Sam Pollock back to life and help lead the front office.😁
  6. But you have to remember that Rutherford was trying to win a Stanley Cup during Crosby and Malkin’s peak years. Moving draft picks/prospects for known talent that can help you win now is what they all do when they are a contender. Rebuilding is a totally different situation and strategy. Rutherford’s role here would be to shepherd the organization, making sure everything is running smoothly. Adams would still be GM. Rutherford brings a ton of respect around the league. People will look at the Buffalo organization and not say “complete tire fire” but rather that they have a lot of vet experience overseeing things and I might be open to joining them now. That holds a lot of weight with players, agents, scouts, front office people, coaches you want to try and attract.
  7. Bringing in a Rutherford would also open the door to a larger amount of quality scouts willing to come. He probably knows most of the vet scouts around the league. Rutherford and Karamanos would bring respectability to the front office and would change the narrative and view of many from tire fire to those guys know there stuff, I am more willing to consider going there now. Having these guys to support Adams would be big.
  8. I typed this on another site so I’ll put it here too. A general recap of the podcast: on his podcast he says Karmanos is coming but Rutherford is in negotiations to come in in a senior advisor role. The negotiations are about the Pegulas stepping aside and letting Rutherford and Adams run the hockey dept. Also said he heard apparently that there are more people joining the front office but he didn’t have names yet. He said Adams would still be GM and make the hockey decisions. I think Rutherford, Karmanos+ would be a home run. They desperately need vet. Experience and respectability around Adams. He mentioned that he heard it from one source then an NHL scout he speaks to said the rumour around the NHL is that it is a Rutherford-Karmanos package to Buffalo. He said Rutherford doesn’t want to commit to multiple years until he sees ho the relationship with the Pegulas goes. Probably got burned by Penguins ownership which led him to quitting there. stated that Rutherford has contacts with everyone from League officials to agents, to players to coaches and would be huge for helping with the coaching search. To summarize: Karmanos is a go, Rutherford is negotiating, put it at about 80%, and that other people will be joining as well.
  9. Hall, Montour to Florida for a 1st, good prospect and Rick Dudley😜
  10. So he is washed up hot garbage yet he should have got a lot more for him. You will be lucky to get a 1st for Hall with retention
  11. Karamanos was hired after the first interview. The second interview was him asking if he could leave.😜 1st and Klim Kostin from the Blues. Make it hurt a little😀
  12. Bob’s list is from Dec 15, before the WJCs even took place. I wouldn’t even worry about the top of this draft, take the guy you want, no one is on another tier then then the others.
  13. There is no consensus #1 and there might not be by draft time. You can’t compare this year to any other because of Covid. A lot of rankings get finalized based on playoffs but some leagues haven’t even started, some are truncated, Michigan with the big 3 was pulled from the Frozen Four. This year will be about projection and who the teams like at the top of the draft. After round one will be the ultimate crapshoot because lack of games for a ton of players. This is a draft where scouts will make their reputations. You know the perfect year to chop your scouting staff to almost nothing.🥺
  14. “Even though we have traded Staal we still don’t think there is any room on the roster for R2 to get a look. Give me CJ Smith, R2, Fogarty for the rest of the season. They have nothing to lose. Fogarty atleast is the type of player they want “a Sabre” to be. Plays with some grit and passion. Cozens, Mitts, R2, Sheahan should be the centre spine moving forward. Let’s see what they have got. What is the worst dat happens, they lose a couple games.😉
  15. I don’t think there will be a ton of moves. Teams are against the cap. Some teams will be looking for super cheap depth, others for dollar in dollar out type deals. Who would of thought JJ to the Ave would be the first deal? I hope Adams looks for some young players ready to step in that bring it every night. They definitely need a goalie. That is why I would ask Boston for Vladar. That kid is ready to start in the NHL.
  16. This year there really isn’t a clear cut#1 and some of the draft sites have him #1. The problem with some of the kids not playing this year is that we don’t know who would have broken out with a huge draft season and establish themselves as a top prospect. Quinn wasn’t considered a top draft prospect last year and then he had a huge season with 52 goals and really established himself. That and the fact that there is no McDavid type runaway top pick makes it interesting. I think Beniers is the guy out of the top group of players that the Sabres really need moving forward. If he was ranked around 10th then it would be an issue but he is ranked Ming the top guys in the draft.
  17. If the Sabres end up with #1 after the lottery and don’t take Beniers then Adams speel about what a Sabre is was a complete load of garbage. The kid looks like a bigger, much better skating ROR. Kid competes all over the ice every shift. A lot of the scouting reports compare him to Toews at the same age. Slam dunk pick to me. Wouldn’t be the sexiest 1st OA pick but would have a big impact on the team moving forward.
  18. The problem is Kevyn doesn’t need an assistant GM. He needs someone with more experience to help guide him. A Mike Futa type or a Mike Gillis as Senior Advisor type.
  19. To start the 3 rd period Lindy comes out behind the Sabres bench and Ralph to the NJ bench. Sabretooth removes his head to reveal it is Darcy. The gang is back together in Buffalo!😛
  20. For all the people saying Ralph will survive the season can you imagine 29 more games of this?
  21. They are blowing it all up! Trading all the players not nailed down and bringing in Leaman to build a program from scratch.🤯
  22. “Hey Rod, Kevyn Adams, Buffalo Sabres. Remember when yo ran Jeff Skinner out of town because he didn’t buy in to your system? Well we have him locked up at $9 million for the next 7 years, you want to jump onboard as coach here?” LOL
  23. Leaman was interviewed to take over Rochester but decided to stay in college instead. Leaman is a good coach, has a good track record but bringing him in to this situation would be another mistake. This situation is screaming for a Boudreau. Leaman makes sense if they intend on blowing the whole thing up, trading Eichel and the others, and starting from scratch. But knowing the Pegulas as we do, they will hire Leaman, keep this group together and scratch their heads when they are still in this position 2 years from now.
  24. Someone who can drop the gloves and some size, heart and physicality in the bottom 6. A competent goaltender would do wonders. Move Cozens to C permanently. Bryson, Borgen and Samuelsson should all be in the lineup on the backend.
  25. Sounds to me like Ralph might be tapping out here. Your comment sounds right. Like he is on HNIC panel commenting on the team rather then admitting that his system is a complete and utter failure.
