McKenzie says that Beniers is the only player in the top 15 that projects as an NHL centre.
-
This is why winning and not having the first pick is the best route. START UP THE ANTI TANK. Of course this is the year they will finish fourth and win the lotteryđ

Bruce Boudreau was on one of the NHL shows and he said when a coaching change happens it takes 2-3 weeks for the team to acclimatize to a new coach and system. So looking at it that way, Granato has them playing really well coming out of the tail end of the 18 game losing streak. overall I think they are much better in their own end. Not fantastic, but much better positionally and night and day breaking out of the zone. As far as defensive play and special teams, again Donny doesnât have his hand picked staff with him. With his staff in place and an off-season to plan things would look different there.
-
People have to remember that Granato isnât doing this with his âstaffâ either. Ellis and Girardi are skill development coaches with no experience behind the bench. It is not like Granato picked people he is comfortable with. It is something that has to be considered. Not saying Ellis and Girardi havenât been positives but just pointing out he doesnât have an experienced staff to lean on at the moment. If the kids finish the season strong then he has to be the favorite. How many coaches does this team need to go through? You have a guy in place getting them to buy in and playing their best hockey as individuals and as a team I think you stick with it rather then bringing in someone else and hoping he gets the same results from the players. I have a feeling if Granato is coach then Eakin isnât here next year which might be worth it by itselfđ

There wasnât a need for Samuelsson to play today. This is a trial to see if he is ready next season. If he passes with flying colours then I think Jake is gone. McCabe is injury prone and is up and down. He was playing well before the injury though. Matthias would be a bigger, steadier, much cheaper option. That money could be used on Reino, Ullmark, Dahlin Joki etc.
-
They have a pretty good handle on the talent pool but that doesnât mean kids wonât develop. Quinn didnât have great pre draft year but in his draft year exploded for over 50 goals. There will be players like that this year for sure.

Why would the Sabres trade Eichel if he doesnât want out?
-
Why do people keep saying they shouldnât trade Eichel then? It IS NOT the Sabres idea to trade Eichel. This trade will only happen IF Eichel forces his way out and refuses to play here anymore.
-
The worst draft comment is from NHL scouts he spoke with. That doesnât mean there are no good players, means no superstars at the top and the depth of players isnât very good. You are right though, some kids are being undervalued because they didnât play and have the chance to have a âbreakout seasonâ.

https://youtu.be/bxXrPMwuypA Beniers as an underager at the 2019 U18s. Kid was just electric. I have watched most of his film this season but this was a nice treat. I just imagine him and Cozens blowing by players all over the ice each game.

FFS that was brutal. Irwin can go to the practice squad immediately. One year left at $6 million, I have thought for a while something like your idea might work. Get Okposo to retire for his health. Give him a role like Matt Ellis, skill development, pay him his salary but free up $6 million in cap. Drake Caguillia who they claimed off waivers from Arizona.
-
Again people need to realize that the Sabres arenât looking to trade Jack. It is only an option if Jack forces his way out.
-
I agree I was just mentioning Turcotte fits that mold. If it were a serious trade discussion I am going after both.
-
You have got to be kidding me. We are at the point where Okposo needs to have a serious conversation about his future. He was playing well too.
-
Somewhere, Ralph Krueger threw his remote control through the television, got up and rage quit the game!đ
-
I missed what happened to Okposo. Good to see Ullmark back. Looks like The Drake will get the death spot when he is good to go.
-
If they draft Beniers and IF they traded with the Kings and Turcotte was part of the deal then Adams would be on track with his âidentityâ for the team: Cozens, Beniers, Turcotte would be the poster children for Sabres âfast, skilled, high effort, high character, 200 foot playersâ

There is a lot to unpack. 1) The Sabres donât have a desire to move Eichel. It will. E a result of him wanting out if it happens. 2) His no trade kicks in next summer. If nothing is resolves and he demands out after it is activated then you are stuck with a Hall situation. Eichel only wants to go to Boston, Boston lowballs you knowing you have no options. 3) Donât just dismiss the Dregers of the world. They are mouthpieces and agents know how to use them to get info out there. 4) If he is moved, L.A. is a great team to have interested. West Coast, you only see him a couple of times a year, and lots of young high end talent: Byfield, Turcotte, Kupari, Akil Thomas, Bjornfort, Kaliev, high draft picks. I think Eichel is sick of losing and there being no hope at the end of the tunnel. That may change if this team keeps improving. I think Eichel has no problem staying if things turn around here next season.

Like your idea. Only thing I might tweak is putting Bjork with Jack. They are friends who played together growing up. Bjork has the wheels to play with him and if Jack and Sam turn him into an offensive scorer then that is found money: Bjork Eichel Reinhart Skinner Cozens Ruots Asplund Mitts Tage Agree that VO would be the guy to move and see what you can get. Ruots adds everything he does at a fraction of the price.

I think Samuelsson grabs a spot by the throat next season. He is exactly what they need back there. Big, strong, physical, can skate and headman the puck. A true leader. Him and Borgen could be a McKee-Warrener type pairing for Buffalo. Bryson I see like McKenzie from the Bills. Electric player but you donât want him in every play. He would be a great 7th dman that you put in the lineup to change the pace, give a different look. I do like him.

I would like to hear what really happened with Chris Taylor. That is the only thing I see as pointing to âbad personâ but we donât know the details there.
