Sounds like the Rags have to clear cap to extend goalie Igor. I agree with others that Kreider would be a great pickup. Leadership, power forward and net front presence. No idea what the Rags want though in return. They are 12-6

Jiricek is not good enough to play in the NHL right now. He would be a project acquisition. If they make a move right now I want to see a vet acquisition that can help win games right now. If they want to make vet moves as well as acquire a Jiricek for the future I have no problem with that but he can’t be the big move right now to help this team.

I think he will be elite offensively. He is showing signs already. He’s never going to be as physical as Dahlin but hopefully that part will improve over time.

SJ is going nowhere. Granlund is having a great season with 24 points already without a ton of support, after having a very good season last year. 32 years old, ufa after season. He could fit as 2nd line centre and move Cozens to wing or play LW with Tage and Tuch and reunite JJ Cozens Quinn. Interesting name to look at if rumors are true Sabres are calling around for a top 6 player.

I’m not going to compare the players to each other but in the 70s the Habs built a dynasty around a big 3 on D with Robinson, Savard and LaPointe and filled the D corps around them. They would have one or 2 of those guys on the ice at any time. Buffalo is setting up to have a similar model with Dahlin, Byram and Power. A big 3 that can play a ton of minutes. Fill the rest of the D corps in with Clifton types that can play physical and have a defensive consciousness. Im seeing growth with Power not just offensively but blocking shots, being more aggressive in his defensive play. These guys are still very young but the future is very bright for the big 3 lead by Dahlin.

I agree they need another top 6 forward. I would see if there is a legit scoring winger to play with Tage and Tuch. Move JJ down to reunite with Cozens and Quinn and get them going again: legit scorer Tage Tuch JJ Cozens Quinn Benson McLeod Zucker Greenway Krebs one of Lafferty/Malenstyn/NAK

I will say that the player that has benefited the most from Ruff as coach has been Tuch. Looks like a different player, total leader talking to the bench stepping up with clutch plays. Such pride playing for Ruff. Reimer was fantastic. Solid goaltending will go a long way towards this team taking the next step. Best game Cozens has played in a long time. Let’s hope this is the beginning of him returning to form. Clifton has been playing terrific hockey of late. Ruff is getting through to them. Hopefully Tage comes back soon and they can keep rolling.

Through 14 games this season UPL’s numbers are almost identical to last season. We are starting to see a true number 1 emerge.

Even when Tage returns the Sabres need a proven scorer/offensive threat on the 2nd line. I’m not sure who it is but someone that brings offensive acumen. Benson is going to be a heck of a player but he is not there yet offensively. Cozens is still struggling. Quinn is starting to take some strides. Last night I was impressed with Zegras’ playmaking. Definitely something that the Sabres lack. Not saying he is the guy to bring in but that type of playmaking would do wonders for a guy like Cozens and help the PP immensely. I know Zegras name is out there and he has struggled offensively but the skills are there. He wouldn’t be my first pick but I wouldn’t be upset if they acquired him.

Hard to know what you have in a goalie til about 24-25. Good to see he is having a good start. Some people didn’t like the pick so will go out of their way not to be impressed with anything the kid does.😛

Big win in a game they would absolutely collapse last year. hats off to Clifton and Benson, team showing team toughness. Liked Krebs a lot tonight. Zucker has been a great pickup so far. Lindy has them playing a lot better defensively. Overall the structure is greatly improved. UPL is a number 1. Power really coming on of late. I really like the idea of one or two of Dahlin, Byram and Power being on the ice most of the night. No letdown tomorrow. Got to sweep the trip. Pens lost tonight.

Cozens, Quinn, Kulich, Levi would you do that deal for Brady? There are certain people clamouring for Brady but to get Ottawa to trade their captain in division it would hurt. And I don’t know if those pieces would entice them.

If the Wild offered Rossi for Cozens would people consider it? Rossi has 15 points and is +7 right now. Cozens has struggled. Rossi played junior in Ottawa with Quinn. I’m not sure how I would feel about that deal. I like Cozens but he has continued to struggle and I don’t see him as having the hockey IQ to be a 2C. Rossi has the brains and skills but does not have the size/speed combo Cozens has.

Tuch hs impressed me this season as someone who looks like the leader of the team. He has upped his consistency under Lindy and seems a lot more engaged all over the ice, including taking face-offs this season.
