I’m bummed about this. Still a big fan of Cozens and think this roster just being poorly constructed impacted him - needed linemates to elevate him not the other way around. Now …. I do think a lot of that is on Cozens. This trade also tells me Adams felt like if there were any players that checked out after the Donnie firing and bringing in Lindy - it was Cozens. Maybe Dylan was ticked Adams said they don’t work hard enough and Cozens got offended by that. Being lumped in publicly as a team that lacked accountability. I think next to Brady Tkachuk is the exact perfect landing spot for him. Just disgusted we couldn’t find a version of that type of player to get into our top 6. Not as good as Brady but that caliber.

I truly believe this group did not lose the fans because of the on ice failure they’ve been. They lost the fans the way they handled the fire Donnie chants. The stupid salute the fans stuff in the aftermath. The stupid way they handled all that. I think they loved Donnie. Adams fires him. States essentially the reason why was because of accountability issues - that essentially they don’t work hard enough. The players all responded to the Ruff hire echoing everything Adams said. Not bc they wanted to but because they had to. They lost respect for Adams. The fans lost respect for the players that pouted. And the players in turn play soft, stupid, uninspiring hockey far too often. If Adams isn’t fired it’s imo bc Pegula won’t let it be bc of the players. That could be the reason he went to Montreal to give them the “pep talk” (riot act the players probably couldn’t care less about.) Donnie was fired and they never got over it. Mentally weak team. With a pathetic GM who handled the firing of Donnie poorly, and then made everything worse with his palm trees and taxes whining. Total disaster.

So, because the young guys we forced to play so soon are now officially stunted as far as their growth - most should be traded. Because no one on this team of significance knows how to win. So I’d be making a lot of trades for players under team control and draft assets and completely start again. You need a core to build around. Here is my core I’d keep: Dahlin Benson Kulich Ok so knowing that I’d trade everything else. And if Rasmus wants no part of it then I’d trade him too. We can completely rebuild a good team in 2-3 seasons. Maybe emerge with a few top 3-5 picks in the process. This all has to be done under new management of course. Add to the kids playing well in Rochester. That’s how I see it.
