Personally I’ve been against it, his analytics kind of turned to garbage and the hip injury is worrisome But emotions will have to take over logic if it actually happens, I’d be excited and eat my words. At the very least hopefully he’d help fill the arena and just be a little more useful version of Olofsson

seems like this has gained quite a bit of momentum in the past 2 hours

Off topic from Mitts himself, but the amount of discussion around pull-ups in that thread and the assumption that they’re easy is a sure sign of a lot of people that have never actually attempted a pull-up I’m not a professional athlete by any means but I’m mid 20’s, workout 5 days of the week weight lifting, weigh about 205, bench 235 and row 185, played sports all my life — I can only do 8 pull ups on a good day. Was he at the biggest interview for future professional athletes and maybe lacked some preparation? Sure. But let’s not sit behind a computer screen and keyboard and act like pull-ups are some exceptionally easy task when they’re actually pretty difficult and require a good bit of strength that a 160 pound 17 year old might not have. I don’t know why that irked me so bad but it did lol As far as Mitts, it feels like the asking price goes up with every game. If the intent is to sign him and have him as part of the core, KA has to get it done sooner than later. It seems like he’s played himself into the Tage/Cozens contract range, but if KA waits all season before resigning him he may play himself well past that range into an area that doesn’t seem feasible for our long term plans

Theoretically, What does a McDavid trade look like?
elijah replied to elijah's topic in The Aud Club
Aw man, that hurts my heart. It’s too bad that this theoretical conversation has to end because he realistically isn’t getting traded 😔 -
GDT: Wild @ Sabres - Nov 10, 2023 - 7:00pm, MSG-B/ESPN+📺WGR📻

Ryan Johnson stays, Mitts needs to get extended sooner than later, overall we ‘stole’ a win. 4-1-1 in the last 6, keep it rolling. -
Theoretically, What does a McDavid trade look like?
elijah replied to elijah's topic in The Aud Club
Surprised by how many responses in here include Tage/Dahlin, that’s not even a thought that crossed my mind Feel like at the point that McDavid is getting traded it’s a prospect haul type of trade, not an exchange of elite players If I’m Edmonton and it comes to trading McDavid, the last thing I want to do is add another elite player and more B prospects to a roster that clearly lacks the depth to win -
Unlikely to ever happen (or is it?), but a slow Oilers start along with not winning anything this far in to his career makes for fun speculation. Was having a conversation about it with my friends and it just seems like something that’d be impossible. It seems like the Oilers would be crazy to take the highest offer any team could reason to send their way, and visa versa that any team would be crazy to offer what the Oilers asking price would be. My best theoretical offer would be Cozens + Peterka + Kulich + UPL + ‘24 1st + ‘25 1st + ‘26 1st for McDavid, and that just seems like it’d be too little for the Oilers and too much for the Sabres. A little off the wall and definitely just a useless exercise, but with the Oilers down to the Sharks in the battle for last place, it was a fun what if conversation that came up. Curious what SabreSpace thinks about it. Not even just in terms of the Sabres but with any team in the league

If you’re going to discount Wednesday’s game as getting beat by the Flyers, surely it’s only fair to acknowledge that yesterday the game was actually quite even, if not the Sabres slightly better, despite the score saying otherwise right? As far as the different focus, maybe it’s not showing as well on the ice as we’d hope for but I think through media interactions and glimpses of play that DG is trying to develop the guys into more defensively sound players after letting them fly free all last year. It’s an adjustment, it’s going to take a little time I’m not saying it’s got to be all sunshine and flowers, the start is actually enough where I’m getting a little angst that maybe the playoff expectations may be a let down. But that being said, it’s just the slightest bit of a worry because after all it’s only game 11. Can we give it until your Christmas benchmark before the collective meltdowns among fans start to happen? There’s 71 games left. They went on an 8 game losing streak last year and recovered enough to be alive through game 80. There’s things to be concerned about surely, I won’t be as ignorant as to say there’s no reason to complain. But the reaction and sentiment in this thread specifically just seems to be a bit premature for where we’re at in the season
-
this thread is quite dreadful it’s game 11 with a young team playing with a different focus than last year, there’s some growing pains i don’t know how confident i am that they’ll make the playoffs but the tone in this thread i’d say is a bit over the top and alarming, let’s see 30 or so games before we decide that the seasons going nowhere imo 🤷♂️

Has anyone listened to the KA clip or just read the quote? Actually listening to the clip, it’s really just standard GM talk and no strong hint, or hint at all for that matter, at Michkov

With this draft considered to be so deep, I’m curious if anyone here has their own or has seen somewhere do a consolidated rankings with both this years and last years prospects?
-
I forget who said it, but someone associated with the team essentially said being young they rely on crowd energy a lot to get their energy. On the road they like silencing the crowd in the spotlight, and at home they have no one to play for I’m sure there’s other factors involved, but I think this could definitely be part of the issue

Just yelling at clouds here, but I wish all of these things waited until actual deadline day and then deadline day was just 7 hours of woah wtf just happened, rather than a slow roll all week just for very minor things to actually happen at the deadline Idk just seems more fun that way As for the Sandin trade, the Leafs were doing so well trading this year but my god what was that 😬

Can’t find the tweet now, but I saw a tweet earlier Rumor has it that conehead (one of the concession guys for all of Buffalo sports, well known in the area I’d say) told someone that Tuch’s injury is a broken foot and to expect 4-6 weeks. Take it for what it’s worth, it’s a rumor to begin with and even if it conehead did in fact say that it’s essentially a glorified fan claiming to have insight But hey, he does work in the arena every game, maybe he’s right 🤷♂️

the tweet says: My prediction for the Sabres deadline is that they trade for a defenseman and it’s not someone we have been discussing at all If you don’t follow the original account that jeremy responded too I would go ahead and give it a follow, one of my favorite accounts on sabres twitter

I vaguely watched the Sabres in my childhood, I’m 24 so I watched as a casual fan (pretty young one at that) while they enjoyed their success from ‘05-‘10. Once the drought started my fandom wasn’t strong enough to stick through the bad years really and they became more than irrelevant to me. Then they drafted Eichel and I started paying a little bit of attention again. Right around the Skinner trade I kind of hit a point where I was like, well, I’m a diehard Bills fan, I’m a diehard sports fan in general, and I’m from Buffalo, why am I not paying attention to the Sabres? Problem was, being a diehard sports fan in general it drove me insane that I didn’t understand hockey and was just watching casually understanding that goal = good, goal against = bad. When I watch the Bills, I’m able to digest on field play and the offseason and roster management at what I would call an above average level. With hockey, I had zero idea and I couldn’t stand that so I needed to learn more. At that point I had just made my account at TwoBillsDrive and came across SabreSpace. It seemed like the majority of the community here were intelligent and understood the game (definitely more so than over at TBD 😬) so I lingered and just read and observed to digest and try to learn. I did that for probably about 2 years before making an account. Now I’ve had the account for about 3-4 years and have watched 90%+ of Sabres games for 5-6 years. I still don’t contribute around the boards much, but I think I’m at a point where I can confidently digest roster management and am slowly starting to actually see the gameplan, individual player peformance and coaching impacts develop live on ice during the games. You sick f**ks did it to me. It’s no longer 1.) Bills …………………………………… 2.) Sabres, it’s now 1A.) Bills, 1B.) Sabres. I’m fully addicted, and right as I escaped one drought, I was strangely deranged enough to jump on board another drought lol

Who’s Next to Re-sign and how long and for how much?
elijah replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I keep seeing Power estimates around $8M-$9M, doesn’t that seem a touch inflated? Genuinely asking, I’m foreign too and still learning the ELC/bridge/long term contract world Also, has Mitts moved himself from whipping boy to extend early this off-season in hopes of a bargain deal before he continues to build his game next year? -
I think you could walk that “steal” number right up to anything under $10M tbh
-
My guess independent of the Thompson & Cozens deals: 8x$11.5M My optimistic hope with Thompson & Cozens deals in mind: 7x$9.75M My middle ground with all context added: 8x$11M

As a relatively fresh hockey fan, and more so Sabres than NHL, I haven’t watched a contending team (closely) yet so I don’t know how the roster gymnastics work. But our 13th forward currently has 26 games played of our 50, provided the rookie next year isn’t Savoie due to whatever rules his league has, couldn’t the rookie ‘earn it’ in that 50% game share bouncing back and forth between AHL and NHL? Or are there rules - i.e.) number of call-ups and send downs maybe - that would prevent that?
