Is there a good recent analogy of another team that has successfully navigated a very similar strategy to the one we believe Adams is undertaking? How long did it take until they were a playoff contender? If there’s another thread where this has already been discussed, let me know and I’ll read through it.

With regard to Covid, is there a statistic somewhere out there that would demonstrate that Buffalo has been affected more adversely than most teams? Isn't everyone dealing with it to some degree?

If they could just create a schedule where it’s a different guys assignment to do it each game, we might be on to something.

I fear you’re right. Regarding the bit that they’re coached not to be overly physical, what is the theory behind that? That we’re going to win on speed, strategy and shooting skill alone? That we risk taking too many penalties that we can’t effectively kill at a high %?

I’m intrigued by that too. Is it that they are coached not to? Is it the type of players on the roster? Is it a symptom of where they are as a team competitively?

I agree, but I think most of us were expecting PROGRESS, even if it’s in the “two steps forward, one step back” mode. Are we seeing the progress most of us were expecting? I’m not just talking about tonight, for the record.

This is where I am. Whatever happened to the team back in the fall that “might not win a lot, but they’re going to be tough to play against every night”? Did that only apply to that particular collection of players? Was it not a new organizational mindset? And this is a home game. That’s what concerns me most.

On a scale of 1-10, how concerned are you with the impact of prolonged losing and lack of progress on the young core?

Like you, I have EXTREMELY low expectations for this season, but what bothers me most is the difference in the compete level recently vs the beginning of the season. I guess losing can do that when you lack veteran leadership (and a relatively consistent lineup with NHL-level talent). I just hope we don’t kill the youngsters’ enthusiasm and hope. No easy answers, still.

Not watching but catching lowlights on NHL Network. They were killing the Sabres for lackadaisical back check on that second goal. “That’s called hanging your goalie out to dry”.
