  1. James Cook contract dance part deux
  2. IMHO he plays passive hockey because, in part, he's not naturally tough.
  3. A big jump in toughness? I just don't think it's in his DNA. If it were, wouldn't we have seen at least glimpses of it by now?
  4. Nope, not gonna hang my hat on any single player to improve the overall team. If we had landed a bonafide star in the off-season, that person would probably have gotten my vote.
  5. I would have voted for “He will be better than last year but I don’t expect an eye-popping breakout season”.
  6. Agree. And Benson on the top line gives me pause. Fine player, but first line? Not yet, IMHO.
  7. It baffles me to this day that he went 1OA. Was that draft class that weak?
  8. As I get older I’ve realized that setting high expectations on things over which I have no control is a recipe for a lifetime of frustration. As fans, we can stop buying tickets and merch and scream into the void on social media and message boards, but other than venting, it doesn’t actually do anything, especially when you have ineffective ownership and management. It’s (unfortunately) their expectations that matter most.
  9. I’d add Benson to that list. He’s not a big dog, but he seems like a willing ankle biter.
  10. This. If he isn’t one of the lowest paid GMs, that is even more damning of Pegula’s judgment.
  11. Can’t imagine this presentation took multiple days, but maybe.
  12. Out of curiosity, what type of player wouldn’t be a “typical Sabres pick” in the late rounds? Can’t the same be said for every other teams’ late round picks? Are there too many rounds in the draft? Should they just leave the draft after the 3rd round?
