Which... hard to motivate people when the game doesn't matter at all and the crowds absolutely dead. Agreed - i hope they don't wait to make a move if something opens up.
-
My brother always reminds me that Green Jelly is from Buffalo. They had a little moment in the sun: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Little_Pigs_(song) As a big tool fan, there's some fun tool connections there too.
-
Then you just need to find your PK pairings. Assuming you keep power and johnson as one, that'd leave maybe muel and clifton as the other with Dahlin as a floater if any of them are in the box.
-
I wonder if they're rotating Johnson in there in practices. If they split Samuelsson from Dahlin to go L-R, i wonder how joker would play with Muel.
-
He's not ready to play though. He's recovering from hip surgery which has ended some careers already. So while possible, i don't think anyone's signing him until he has shown to be recovered from the surgery.

MSG's Sabre Games: No Cable Needed Next Season
Drag0nDan replied to That Aud Smell's topic in The Aud Club
Whatever channel is needed to watch the guardians. I've just given up on baseball the last few years because I can't watch my team even if i wanted to pay for it. -
The summer doldrums of hockey. Propose an NHL rule change.
Drag0nDan replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
My rule change? Shootouts and penalty shots get a timer. Don't know how long its supposed to take, but they should be able to find a balance. The boring drift-in move needs to go as its just not hockey and its a massive disadvantage to the goaltender. -
MSG's Sabre Games: No Cable Needed Next Season
Drag0nDan replied to That Aud Smell's topic in The Aud Club
I'm a guardians fan, even with the MLB package i wouldn't get their games as i'm "in market". I have the 2nd highest fios package for channels (because i wanted MSG), and i don't even know what channel i would need or if its on the highest package. -
I would say the backchecking up the middle needs to improve across the board. Too many transition shots from the high slot without getting our stick or body in there.

Annual expectations thread 2023/24: #25 Owen Power
Drag0nDan replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I'd like him to shoot more. He's the QB on PP2, let em rip for tips. Find that high slot and just blast them. Sometimes he's just always looking to pass and it ends up slowing down the tempo a little bit, play faster, get the pucks on the net, and have forwards get to dirty areas etc. -
I mean they kinda block the entrances during play. The TV's in the concourses are also comically small, and half of them are broken in some way. It also makes the area seem larger instead of these cramped gathering areas.
-
I wouldn't be opposed if he passes a physical. That likely wouldn't be until January though.
-
From concourses - many newer stadiums make it a point that... if you are walking the concourse you can see the field, ice, etc. At least some level of window there.
-
It's a start - my big issue is if you arent in the club section, you can't see the ice in the slightest and i don't think they can really fix that. Screen and sound is terrible in there. Hopefully upgrading sound will improve the TV sound too because its terrible. I never get pizza at bills/sabres games because its overpriced, cold usually, and terrible. Bills games - fingers bucket, sabres - a weck if i don't eat beforehand. I never thought they were THAT bad (they weren't good though), but if they want to improve it i'll pay the extra dollar.
-
Thats what i meant with physicals though. Can he play at a higher level than he did with the injury, and can he match some of his play from before that? My assumption is no, as most people with bad hip injuries tend to retire. I suspect he gets signed, gets injured again, and retires.
-
Well... he was injured last year and played through it... He was greater than a point per game the previous 4 seasons. To me it comes down to physicals, can he still play?
-
So he has been dealing with a hip injury for a long time, and hip injuries have proven career ending for lots of players.... Ryan Kesler, Andrew Ference, Brent Seabrook. We'll see on Backstrom and Kane though, i think kane gets a 1yr deal halfway through the season somewhere with LTIR space or something like that.
-
I suspect they'll partner with a streamer as some sort of add-on service as these local sports networks slowly go belly up. ESPN+ is this much - add in a single team package for X more.
-
It'll just be subscription regional broadcasting if i had to guess. I think 30/month is absurd for MSG+ though. For that much... can they fix the broadcast so the sound is in sync?
-
I'd like to see Tage backchecking through the middle more effectively. You watch boston and it seems like the high slot takeaways is where their offense comes from.
-
I also don't see him cracking 40 goals - if he didn't do it shooting 16% (like 4-5% higher than career average). I also don't see it happening now that he's become more injury prone, and isn't really a PP goal threat.
-
He's in that wheelhouse for sure Mcdavid, Matthews, Draisaitl, Mackinnon probably make up the top 4. After that you have Point, Hughes, Tage, Crosby in some order. If bergeron plays hes in the top 10. Then I'd put Petterson, Eichel, Malkin, Zibanejad, Stamkos (and probably some others like Tavares Larkin and Hischier) in that next tier. I can't argue much there. Aho always scores on us and he's one that i forgot.

Defense remake underway! Who is moving on?
Drag0nDan replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Some improved back skating and back checking would go a long way to improving team defense. There are WAY too many wide open shots from the high slot, and a guy like VO or Skinner just sort of drifting behind the play looking to turn up ice. I think all 4 of the centers need to prioritize this as well as something that just can't happen. On the PK i think they can do a better job at the blue line on making zone entry more challenging, they also got caught puck watching way too much as the season wore on. Seemed like teams figured out how to attack us down-low on their PP's, and we just gave up a lot of space. Backdoor cross crease passing was also just wide open for business, and there wasn't a tandem that did a great job there clearing that out. -
GDT: Sabres Prospect Camp: 3v3 Tournament, Sabres.com, July 6, 2023

I always felt like 3 on 3 was just... a different game. Basically man coverage and simple plays and cycling to create space. -
i dunno what that means but they definitely smoke a ton of weed? If i had to guess, there's probably some other more party-focused drugs going around as well.
