Smart organizations target guys who are undervalued because of outdated thinking/market inefficiencies. It's actually something that Bill Bellichek was great at and why the Pats were dominant for two decades in an era where that should've been impossible in the NFL.

Seriously. Same for the Barzilla.

History lesson: in the early 90's a young Yankees prospect drew the ire of George Steinbrerner and he ordered his GM (Gene Michael) to trade him ASAP. Stick told him he would not do so because it would be a terrible mistake, and eventually he talked The Boss out of it. Good thing for the Yankees he did because you know who that kid was? Bernie Williams. Botts needed to do what Stick did but he bottled it and as a result will live in infamy.
-
But as I pointed out elsewhere: What good is clearing out spots for developing prospects when you don't have any serious prospects to develope?
-
That was among the finest kickings of Botterill's GM corpse I have seen yet, well done!

Like this team will even make the playoffs this decade.

I became a Sabres fan on April 14th 1997. What happened on April 13th? I said goodbye to the team that I loved more than any other team who I have ever rooted for and was just about the most painful day of my entire life. Decided to support the Sabres because they were based in NYS and were the only one of the 3 remaining Adams Division teams I didn't hate. Also loved Nolan from his days as a Whalers assistant. So of course he was de facto fired after the season. Favorite Sabre: But before Tage it was Captain Crunch: At that period of time I was really close to just checking out of the sport altogether. Honestly I will probably never get over losing my Whalers and there isn't a day that goes by where I don't think about them and just how much I miss them. But those late 90's Sabres were the reason I didn't just give up on the sport. They were a blue collar team that punched way above their weight and nobody else epitomized more than Mike Peca. Most exiting moment: Really that whole 99 run to the finals. Most frustrating: Game 7 vs Carolina. Seeing that slimy disgusting lying bastard Karmanos get his filthy hands on the cup at our expense made me sick beyond words. At least karma got that SOB in the end and his own kids hate him. How to improve the current situation: I quote the legendary Bobby "The Brain" Heenan on how he would've fixed WCW: "I would've got everyone who was running the place in a room and rolled in a hand grenade".

At this point giving the Pegulas the benefit of the doubt on anything is very unwise. Imagine being bigger failures and more incompetent as an NHL owner than Melnyk.

What assets? Therein lies the problem...

We should be praying to God that Sanderson rises into the top 7 to push back someone who is a forward which is what we desperately need.

Stupid Published trade Rumors/Proposals Involving the Sabres
sabremike replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Someone posted elsewhere that he said we would be offering our 3rd rounder this year as part of it. If he indeed said that it would be the most hilarious thing ever for obvious reasons. -
If Kevin Lowe gets in there's no excuse for Butch Goring not being in. Lowe was just a guy on those Edmonton teams, Butchie was the key final piece of the puzzle that lead to the Isles dynasty.
-
Mogilny being snubbed again is a freaking disgrace alone, but over ***** KEVIN LOWE????? Are you ***** kidding me???? But what do you expect from a group that put that vile scuzzy dishonest lying creep Karmanos (AKA Father of the Year) in?

hEs NoT a LeGiT tOp SiX fOrWaRd AnD pArT oF tHe PrObLeM. *****. The problem is that we have far too few good players like Sam and too many godawful useless players like Vesey. Get rid of the players who are garbage, not the precious few good ones we have. And yes, this team has me in a mood where I don't suffer fools gladly right now.
-
Apparently the lesson about running good players out of town based on stupid narratives and the severe consequences that follow has not been learned.
-
I am in no way exaggerating when I say the people advocating getting rid of Sabretooth are literally worse than Hitler. What is needed is a second mascot to help cheering in the sections Sabretooth isn't in. My idea:

This is the important thing that is very troubling: There is absolutely no chance in hell that Adams would've even been bought in for a interview for any other GM position in the entire league. This is the most ludicrous GM hire since Garth Snow went from Isles backup goalie to team GM. The fact the Pegulas made yet ANOTHER insanely high risk hire shows they have learned absolutely nothing.

While it's accurate about her and her husband's incompetency in running a hockey team it needs to be stressed that they have been every bit a complete and utter failure in the non-hockey part of the operation as well. That is actually far worse because you can have a team that sucks but doing things like promotions, having a ticket department that runs smoothly, treating fans well ect. is completely 100% controllable.

I did chuckle at him scolding people over not promoting a healthy discourse when his post was as useful at promoting it as a drum kit in Anne Frank's attic.

I'm curious: the Pegula Sabres right now are a historically bad organization. Nine consecutive seasons missing the playoffs, constant incompetence at every single level of the organization, Melnyk levels of PR incompetence and being tone deaf, kept a GM who has done nothing but step into rake after rake after rake with the biggest being one of the single worst most disastrous trades of all time (a move that was completely indefensible the second it was made and looks even worse in hindsight), provide one of the most awful gameday experiences in the league (Forget NHL, most AHL teams do a better job) and have essentially done nothing right. What is the argument against that being true? What is the contrarian argument for the Pegulas not being really bad owners? Citing the Bills is an apples to oranges comparison because the NFL and NHL have virtually nothing in common. They have shown no sign whatsoever they are capable of running a successful NHL organization because they never learn from their mistakes and just keep repeating them while expecting different results.
