Other than the Skinner unicorn I can't think of any since we became the undisputed laughingstock of the entire sport. Remember how Berglund had to get sharked by Armstrong for him to get traded here? Simmonds, who is so washed up they may as well pulled Rayzor out from his announcing gig and used him instead.

Cap space isn't nearly as useful to have when you are on every single no trade/no move list in the entire league.

The only positive thing he did was put together a team so putrid they won Dahlin. He is on the list of all time worst GM's with Ed Johnston (The undisputed worst of all time, only GM in history to literally kill a team through his idiocy), Milbury and Chia. If there was a grade lower than F that is what Botts deserved. Came into a bad situation and managed to somehow make it ten times worse. Put together a team that failed to qualify for a 24 team playoff despite Jack having just about the greatest season in team history. A chimp throwing darts at random names on a dartbord would've produced better drafts. Left us with a shockingly poor prospect pool and a terrible NHL roster that requires a coach who is a magician to get something out of them. Hired a coach who is anything but a magician, an improvement on his previous hire who was among the worst and most inept coaches in league history who was comically out of his depth. After lucking into playoff contention but falling apart at warp speed refused to fire said incompetent coach, let a once promising season go down the toilet and belatedly fired him the day the season ended. And of course the strong contender for worst trade in league history, that too.

Why don't people understand that Dahlin looks bad in comparison right now because those other guys play for credible NHL organizations with NHL quality coaching and NHL quality rosters while he has the misfortune of playing for what is an NHL organization in name only?
-
They are going to trade Sam and it will end up another ROR level disaster because this organization and it's rancid and inept ownership never learn from their own mistakes, they NEVER NEVER learn.
-
Stop and think: Do you realize just how crazy of an overpay we would have to make to land Pieterangelo? If the dog somehow caught the car it is all but certain we would be regretting it very soon thereafter.
-
I am of the belief that this whole rumored trade goes belly up because the other team has playoff success and backs out.

The problem with Casey: The embarrassingly incompetent GM and Coaches decided to keep the poor kid on the NHL roster when it should've been painfully obvious he didn't belong in the NHL. Instead of sending him to Rochester to work on his game so that he could get to the level expected they basically exposed what was wrong with him by keeping him up for a year and a half. Now there's a great chance they have already wrecked his career before it even began through stupidity. Basically the organizational incompetence destroyed his value.

The problem isn't firing all the people who were failing: it's eliminating most of the positions in the scouting department entirely. Video scouting can be useful but there are things you can see live that you might not notice on tape.

All I can think of is the story of how Punch picked the teams colors as the blue and white of the Leafs while adding gold to signify that unlike the Leafs the Sabres would be a class organization. Welp...

Hockey Gods- No. Giraffe Gods- Yes.

If Adams wants to win me over he will find a way to acquire Tyce The Baby Giraffe from the Devils.

Just a hunch: Having the greatest basketball player ever fall straight into their laps probably helped. So if Jack ends up being the undisputed greatest player of all time Adams will probably work out. Unfortunately the odds of just about the most incompetent owners of all time who have done nothing but step on rakes being able to see that a guy who no other team had ever even though of as being a GM candidate is the real deal when nobody else in the sport sees it seems awfully remote.
-
The last time an NHL team made a move comparable to this it was the Charles Wang Islanders hiring their backup goalie Garth Snow as their new GM. I can tell you for a fact that is not good company to be in.
-
The executive experience was entirely on the business end.
-
So if he scored 10 extra points (which given that the team had fallen completely off a cliff is anything but a given) he would've increased his total from last year by 6 points. That doesn't fail to change the fact that failing to utilize one of his biggest strengths was completely stupid. And here is a narrative that is NOT made up: Despite Jack having one of the greatest seasons in team history (that would've been a serious Hart candidate had he played for an actual NHL quality team) the team failed to qualify for a 24 team playoff, and had the season not halted there was an excellent chance of a bottom 5 finish (which would've been even more impressive given the unusually high number of simply flat out awful teams this past season).
-
Also remember that Kreuger made the baffling decision to have Dahlin not go forward on rushes/attacks, essentially neutralizing one of his biggest strengths which is why his production fell this past season.
-
Here's the problem: we have a GM who literally has the same amount of experience as a pro hockey executive as every poster on this board. The odds of him being able to shark Tampa (or really anyone in the league) are insanely remote (which is why only very stupid teams hire unqualified yes men for the GM position). In fact I absolutely expect Adams to get destroyed when he makes his first big move and dig the hole even deeper.

The only job in pro hockey Botterill should ever be allowed to have again is as a hot dog vendor in the stands.
-
The problem is actually far far worse: We don't have nearly enough good players on our roster or in our organization to even get on the road. And one thing about Carolina people don't understand: from 2015 on they were actually a good team that got murdered by off the charts horrible goaltending. Not fixing that is what caused Ronnie to lose his job despite having done a real good job at putting together the rest of the roster and prospect base.

I miss Roy Rogers the most. Only exist in thruway rest stops these days. Would go there after mass in as a kid and go to the all you can eat fried chicken bar, it was awesome.

The Pegulas literally did a PowerPoint presentation to their employees telling them that a pillar of PSE was allowing them to maintain their lifestyle. I mean that should've opened everyone's eyes wider than drinking an oil drum filled with expresso.
