So who here subscribes to the theory from some at Two Bills Drive that the Bills are more likely to be swept by Miami than sweep Miami and that the Bills are more likely to split with New England and New Jersey than sweep them? No, really, some posters seem to really believe that.

Every time I see the string "BET", I always think of the punchline to a cartoon from The Boondocks, where the young kid refers to Kwanzaa as "The BET of holidays."

I once specialised in mathematical biology and neural networks because I was very good at neurology in biomedical engineering. I have a very hard time watching football because of my knowledge of CTE and what the NFL did to that Pittsburgh neurologist.

Fear not: I am a fan first. I started musing about how these data could be quantified back in the late 1980's when I took courses in Operations Research, where they try to quantify things like leadership or motivation. I have always maintained that you could partially quantify how hard someone backchecks or how good their hockey sense was if you took in and analyzed the right data. It is only after 2010 that we have had the computing power to do this effectively.

Good question. I also question the wisdom of breaking up the season. The only reason that I can think of is that they figure more people will watch because they will already be engaged in hockey mid-season.
