  1. It boggles my mind that even if he keeps it up for a bit, he might be the third best player on the Sabres behind Dahlin and Power in a couple of years. Addendum: maybe include Samuelsson too.
  2. If the Wild move Dumba, then they are not moving Spacek if the GM has any brains.
  3. Last 2 games.
  4. Age 32. Cap is $6.25M through 2025-6.
  5. According to Detroit fans on HFBoards, he is in some kind of NHLPA support program. That may or may not be a massive red flag.
  6. That is a reasonable analysis. Not my bias, but I get it. Could someone who understands the SPC chime in here.
  7. Let us think this through. Let us assume that Pekka-Luukkonen keeps playing well, as I expect him too. Reasons below. There is no way that we will carry only 6 D if at all possible, so we need to cut back at F or in G. We have been extraordinarily lucky at forward with respect to injuries. We could send, say, Hinostroza down and carry 3 goaltenders and hope that nobody claims him and that we continue our injury luck. We can trade Comrie, probably on the cheap. That is almost as unappealing as carrying only 6 D. We can ask Anderson if he wants to be traded. He did not want to last year; I can't think of a reason that he would do it this year. You can send UPL back to Rochester. Now, I think there is something about Mike Bales that keeps UPL focused on his strengths and works with him mentally that he just does not get in Rochester. I do not believe that it is an accident that he plays better in Buffalo than he does in Rochester. That is not a criticism against Rochester's goalie coaches; it more speaks to how Bales explains things to UPL that just clicks for him. Now, I am willing to send UPL to Rochester for 6 weeks and then call him up after the TDL. That is just my estimation of the likeliest needs of the team before then. I might be wrong.
  8. This makes sense to me. Probably low cost and fills a need.
  9. I do. Cost. As with Chychrun, the asking price for Horvat is currently absurd. Moreover, he turned down a contract from Vancouver with an AAV above Thompson's. There is no way I would pay the price to get him, let alone keep him into his 30's. What I want is what I wish Mittlestadt and Olofsson were as opposed to what they actually are. IMHO, I would play Asplund and Hinostroza over them starting tonight.
  10. We can send UPL to Rochester and let him know he will be back up no later than the TDL.
  11. Something about how fantasy has affected sports. One example will explain why I lament their influence on player and team analysis. I never play them and why I am aggressively ignorant of players' fantasy stats (i.e., I go out of my way to avoid even hearing about fantasy sports). The 1999 NFL season was one of the early years of fantasy football. The Buffalo Bills defence were apparently a terrible fantasy pick. Aside from having no pro-bowlers, they were the #1 in points against, yards per opposition drive, and opposition 3-and-outs. Would I have preferred more turnovers and flashier plays more often? Sure. But leading the league in those stats is great for keeping the team in games.
  12. Welcome to the board!
  13. FYI: If we win our 4 games in hand on the NYR and NYI, we would be tied with them.in points.
  14. If this keeps up, then maybe the Sabres can be more choosy about what deals to make to improve the D. This might be satisfactory for the short term: Samuelsson-Dahlin Power-Jokiharu Clague-Lyubushkin Bryson-Fitzgerald
  15. Crud -- my phone is not charging, so I am going to lose it early in the game. It is only 2 months old, so I think it is reasonable to expect it to work with the charging cord.
  16. This is what concerns me about the Sabres tonight.
  17. Maybe they respect our defencemen and goalkeepers that little.
  18. Nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat, eh? Know what I mean?
  19. The thing is that we don't need to be flashy. A 2nd pair defencive LHD to put Power on the 3rd(!) pair so that he does not burn out could be it. Just having sufficient depth would have got a few points when Samuelsson was out.
  20. The city got hit way harder than the northern suburbs. I am not surprised it is taking longer for the city on this go-around. There are more roads, more cars parked in the streets, etc. The one criticism I have is that the driving ban needed to have been started at Midnight Thursday-Friday with only those at work being allowed to go home -- and that needed to be county-wide.
  21. The asking price for Schenn starts at a 2023 1st. That's too rich for my blood, particularly for rental. I would ask about Jensen, but I think Washington will keep him unless they need a forward from us. Rutta makes sense to me.
  22. Who qualifies as a Samuelsson-type D who might be available a decent price and in a good age and/or salary and/or term?
