  1. Because I remember Gerry Desjardins collapsing mentally in Game 5 of the 1975 Stanley Cup Finals and never having confidence in the playoffs again. I am not against getting him. I am just wary of the price and the possibility that his problem may not be fixable; it could be a combination of injury, confidence, technique, and shell shock from backstopping Vancouver's horrendous defence. Thus, before we consider acquiring him, I need to know that Bales is confident that he can fix whatever Demko's problems are this season.
  2. This is where I am. It might come down to price and whether or not Mike Bales thinks that Demko's problems can be fixed.
  3. In my case, it is more that Demko's trouble this season scares me. He has been Tokarski-ish this year.
  4. Meier is low probably by $600k. Dahlin is low by at least $500k. I have not seen a plausible, let alone convincing, reason for Cozens, Dahlin, and Power to take the minimum of what they should get when Meier is getting near his maximum.
  5. Demko has not been good this year. Vancouver rightly views his performance as an aberration and have priced him accordingly.
  6. Welcome back!
  7. My problem is the inflationary effect Meier's salary would have on Cozens, Dahlin, and Power. I am currently budgeting $27M. That probably jumps to $33M for them. Add $9M for Meier puts a real crimp on roster building.
  8. Welcome back!
  9. It's the $9M+ that drives me away. I want be able to afford 8x$8M for Cozens this year and 8x$11M next year for Dahlin and 8x$8M next year for Power. That drives the costs of the others up so that I can't sign them all.
  10. To be fair, a couple of defencemen told Dahlin how lucky they felt playing with him. Dahlin said that really boosted his confidence. I have always theorised that it was backhanded swipe at XHCRK.
  11. No more for me, thanks -- I'm driving.
  12. And, for the first time in over a decade, it does not look like the headlight of an oncoming train.
  13. No interest in Boeser for what the Canucks apparently want: 1st and top prospect.
  14. Sabres win Cup! 4th liner Jack Eichel fulfills his destiny by scoring the Sabres' Cup-winning goal in the 6th overtime of game 7 with the primary assist from the retiring Sam Reinhart.
  15. So the Poincare Duality of "Sides of the Concept Of"?
  16. Are you suggesting that Ukko Pekka-Luukkonen or Eric Comrie will become Patrick Roy? 😉
  17. Welcome to the board! That last week bothers me. 5 in 7 is very rough on the players.
  18. I think they keep Hinostroza as a reserve for the playoffs. You always have injuries and he is a proven NHLer. That still confuses the hell out of me.
  19. You do recall correctly. I have forgotten all the details after all these years, but that is the gist of it.
  20. Weird feeling, isn't it? I had almost forgotten what it felt like.
  21. Just as the playoffs uncover those bottom line forwards with a penchant for scoring big goals, it also shows guys who play bigger overnight (cf. Brian Campbell). GMKA may just wait and see with such a young roster.
  22. On the other hand, if the Sabres make the playoffs with that schedule, it will announce to the league that they will not be a push-over even from the #8 slot.
