Now if only the sports gambling sites could have this problem. I am sick of all the betting talk during games.

Damn. He was a big part of my youth. RIP, Paul. You can also thank him for all the April Fool's Day stuff the Sabres did years ago. -
I still maintain that the best strategic and tactical coach in the NHL is Lindy Ruff.

Jakob Chychrun scratched for trade related reasons

This is important. Tage is sometimes a complete disaster in the defencive zone. The top line gives up an awful lot of goals when matched up against other teams' top lines; he is where most of the positioning problems start. He has not learnt that part of the centre position yet. Luckily, a lot of what is wrong with him is learnable. However, he may not make it too much farther than Skinner for defencive awareness and, unfortunately, we might have to accept that. -
So long, and thanks for all the fish!

I just read that it is possible that Chychrun requested being sat because he was getting higher ice time than most 1D's. -
I hope he got there beforehand.

Substitute "stupidity" for "balls." -
I have not heard this in ages. Thanks for the snorkeling device.

Could be North Korea and Russia too, among others.

Apparently, the Cowlumbus BJs will do the same with Gavrikov. -

2011-2, even though they just missed the playoffs. -
Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?

What I have seen the last 4 games is that the youth is getting exposed. They do not have the experience to adjust to what veteran players have figured out from their patterns. Example: Marty Biron had a nice clip of how LA was taking away the passes between Dahlin and Thompson on the power play, but neither of them adjusted to attack the yawning chasm between the 2 nearest guys in the diamond. Moreover, the man in the slot should head towards the crease to pull another defender to him while the player opposite Thompson should attack the defender in front of him and the low forward should head for the back door. Example: in the last 4 games, the wily veterans have been getting into every passing lane from the defence up to the forwards, thus stalling rushes and causing turnovers. It has appeared that the only Sabres players who can pass the puck up ice consistently are those who know to simplify their game. It also appears that the rookies and sophomores are tiring. The are just a bit too slow processing the game to my eyes. IMHO, the team can make the playoffs, but the players have to adjust to the grind and the scouting reports catching up to them. -

I think it IS Cal Petersen. I just read something about Arizona needing a long-term back-up for Vejmelka. -
It is a lot easier for even mediocre receivers to get open when the offencive line can man block for 4 seconds. Beane and McDermott have to get it through their skulking skulls that they can't keep the defence together at the expense of the offence. The offencive line has the #1-3 needs this off-season in both free agency and at the draft.

I was wondering that myself. This is one of those time where I wish we still had Hinostroza up here. As a point of fact: currently, Buffalo has 2 of the top 40 points percentage jumps in North American professional hockey history; the 1972-3 jump is still in the top 10. From 1971-2 to 1972-3, their GF went up a bit, but they cut GA by about 1 per game. For most teams in the top 50 now, the biggest gains were young teams cutting GA by at least 20% the year after their GF soared. So Granato's apparent plan of growing offence this year and probably defence next year is normal. The best gains would be a couple of stylistic changes in the middle 6 forwards and a veteran defencive top-4 D.

Does anyone know how I can get my Verizon Fios TV to display on a Roku TV? I can watch games on my tablet, but I have a large TV going to waste.

Welcome back! They need to experience all of it: the style of play after the All-Star break; the importance of playing in spite of fatigue; the pressure of a playoff push, and then the playoffs themselves. In particular, they need to learn ensemble defence and how to beat ensemble defence; the last 2 games have exposed both deficiencies. I think it is important to make the playoffs to find out what players reinvent themselves like Brian Campbell did. The team and the players would be that much better for it.

According to Spector's Hockey, Lance Lysowski tweeted that Adams is looking to bolster defencive depth. I imagine that means that he is well-aware of Bryson's deficiencies.

The Sabres seem to have no answer for Calgary's defencive structure on the rush.
