The only reason not to is that I don't think he wants to be traded. Reminder to self: UPL is still only 23; he could still be a couple of years away.

I also agree that Adams is missing an opportunity on defence. I want Dahlin, Samuelsson, Power, and Jokiharu to learn what happens during this crunch time amd for Lybushkin to help them with his experience. But unless they surprise me, I am not interested in seeing what the others bring. I think a veteran #3 LHD would help immensely and would help the group to mature. One point lost in this discussion is that another veteran in the line-up would also be a voice pushing the forwards to think more intelligently about leaving the zone with possession and on defencive awareness. I am thinking about how much Gil Perreault and Rick Martin improved in 1972-3 when we added Tim Horton. Not only was he instrumental in the growth of Schoenfeld, but I definitely recall the young forwards improving in both positional back-checking and timeliness of zone exits.

MSG's Sabre Games: No Cable Needed Next Season
Marvin replied to That Aud Smell's topic in The Aud Club
Will there be a way to access it via Center Ice? -
Schwabl's, Charlie the Butcher's, and Anderson's all do me well.

I thought Jense just signed an extension with Washington.

I never went to Twitter, particularly after my late friend who was employee 75 jumped ship to Snowflake told me how horrified he was at what it has wrought. I am just writing about what Buffalo sports media people are posting and retweeting.

I actually think they are too excited to being at home, whence they go on offence (adrenaline rush) too quickly and get too much into the puck pursuit game (another adrenaline rush). Both defencive awareness and patience waiting to turn up ice are rational processes which are honed with experience. Bluntly, this team does not practice them enough and it looks like the coaches are teaching offence first. I expect that next year will see a more thorough commitment to team defence as most teams which rise quickly from the bottom with young rosters did it this way. Better defencemen and goaltenders would also help immensely.

Agreed on both the goalkeepers and the lack of defencive awareness by the forwards. We are shockingly bad in our own zone.

If you acquire Chychrun and pair the players Samuelsson-Dahlin, Power-Jokiharu, and Chychrun-Lyubushkin, you can roll a top-pairing defender on every pair. That would be quite difficult for any team to handle.

From what people are saying about Sabres Twitter, that is worse. All 3 2022 1sts and 2023 1st for Chychrun. "Adams has to play the inflated prices for a rental now because he was cheap over the summer and didn't sign a few high-end UFAs. Either that or he and his staff should be fired." That is a direct quote. "Buffalo is the new Arizona except Arizona's new owner is willing to spend." Another direct quote. Has anyone noticed that we have only seen quantity-for-quality trades so far? Sabres fans will overpay in quantity and quality just to make a deal.

<vent> I am getting fed up with people on other Sabres boards who want to massively overpay large chunks of the high-end prospects for comparatively little gain. I see multiple pieces of Peterka, Savoie, Kulich, Östlund, and 2023 1st plus one or more of Olofsson, Mittlestadt, and Jokiharu for Chychrun or other players out there in proposals by Sabres fans. These overpayment sometimes put Tim Murray in the shade. People are so desperate to win now that they are willfully blind to the problems down the road. Now, I have seen people saying Dahlin will only get his QO because the Sabres will forever be a cap floor team, so the Sabres should load up now and then, presumably, trade him in the off-season. Girgensons to Pittsburgh for a late round pick. It is ridiculous. </vent>

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?
Marvin replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
See the 1980 Sabres. They had an 11 day layoff after sweeping Chicago and they were sloppy as all get-out in games 1 and 2 against the Islanders, which they both lost narrowly. Had they won 1 of those, they might have been Stanley Cup Champions instead of the Islanders. -
LeBrun apparently said that the ask for Ekholm is 2 x 1sts or equivalent. What say you?

Sabres trade for Defenseman Riley Stillman in exchange for Josh Bloom
Marvin replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Just a thought: does this imply that Dahlin may need to go onto IR for the week? -
Point of fact: Dave Pagnotta said that goalies traded mid-season often under-perform on their new team because the are not used to the system being played in front of them. So we are probably better off waiting for goalkeeping help in the off-season.

At the beginning of the season, who had the Sabres as buyers at the trade deadline? I sure didn't. -

In that case, I apologise for the false alarm, everyone. -

Arizona should be looking at Buffalo's gaping hole in goal and be smart enough not to trade Vemejlka unless he wants out. -
Sabres sign Michael Houser. He has cleared Waivers

TBH, I am all for trying him up here. -

I just read on HFBoards that the Sabres have an offer on the table fo Chychrun which Arizona is evaluating. -
This is the interesting position on Chychrun for Buffalo. Have 3 pairs who can all play 20 minutes, but go to 2 pairs late in games when you are behind. How do people feel about that option?
