Buffalo Sabres Are Not The Worst PK In League Today

The reason I lean towards believing GMKA's account of what was going on with Arizona is that the Kings' GM gave a similarly negative review of his dealings with Arizona.

We all saw how those end up after seeing Hamilton.

I very much appreciate you owning this. 😀

Seriously? That arena is the sticking point still?

Boy, are a lot of fans upset about GMKA not getting Chychrun. The assumption is not that Armstrong was trying to strong-arm Adams, but that Adams killed the trade in a fit of pique. HFBoards has several fans just dismissing the Greenway trade out-of-hand because of this. Then again, a couple of those people were willing to move all 3 1sts from last year for Chychrun.

C. Liked Greenway. Wanted a solid defenceman.

Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel!!!

Agreed. I wish he has spent a pick on someone like Gudas. I wonder if part of the issue with Chychrun was that he saw that he was #3 of offencive defencemen here, so he would be less productive before his next contract, so he discouraged his GM from trading him here. And I am not surprised that other GMs were trying to induce GMKA into overpaying in desperation to reach the playoffs this year.

Anyone else feel a bit better because we were, marginally, buyers for the first time in aeons?

My calendar does not say that it is 1 April. What am I missing?

On trade deadline day, WGR has NFL combine coverage for the 2 hours leading up to the deadline. Just ducky.

Eichel and a 1st in 2023. 😉

I think there is an argument for a little selling, but I have a hard time coming up with a player whom I would move who could return anything but mediocre futures and not a developing defencive prospect. I hope you are right. A player like Saros would patch a glaring hole on the roster next season.

Reminder: the performance of even a good goaltender is often sub-par after a mid-season trade. Goaltenders rely a lot on their familiarity with the skaters' tendencies to handle extra-man rushes, puck movement when exiting the zone, etc. Moreover, the coaches and skaters need to adjust to the goaltender's idiosyncrasies, which can take months. The best time for a goaltender trade is in the off-season.
