  1. Maybe the idea is to temporarily blind the opponent when light strikes it at just the right angle? I can't think of another reason for wearing it.
  2. I am a fan of Tears for Fears, so yes, I do. I was just commenting on the cheesiness of 1980's videos as I remember them.
  3. It wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!
  4. How cheesy do they need to be before you lock it up again? 😉
  5. I agree that we need more guys who will take punishment in dirty areas, but I think you are decidedly underrating the chasm between the 2 teams in quality depth. The gulf is particularly obvious in goal. It is still hard to miss on defence, where Buffalo's regular 3rd pair would at best be Boston's 4th pair. And Boston's forward depth is far more experienced and, more importantly, savvy than Buffalo's.
  6. Both are true. Unfortunately.
  7. Rather pathetic that I can count on 1 if not 2 softies going in each night.
  8. One very important difference between today and the losing streak is that the soft goal happened in the third period rather than the first.
  9. I don't know one way or another. Please explain.
  10. You would think that fans of a team that had Mike Peca on it would know better.
  11. Is its first name "Oscar"? 🙂
  12. It looked reasonable until your last request. 😞 I personally think Lindy Ruff will have a field day showing his players how to exploit our defencive woes. And considering that his Sabres chased something like 5 goaltenders from the NHL, I expect UPL to see wide-open forwards coming down the slot in his nightmares tonight.
  13. Third option on Marchand: Wonder why the NHL does not enforce its rules.
  14. Why would you write stuff like this? Why would you assassinate the characters of everyone here who are are supposedly fellow fans of a team you seemingly ostensibly support? Did it ever occur to you that the emojis are designed for quick takes rather than thoughtful responses? I've been using them since 1983 on rec.arts.drwho. I do not have the time for thoughtful responses for every post I agree or disagree with. I assume that those who give me the negative emoticons either have expounded on them in detail beforehand, will respond indirectly later in further posts, or will require me to clarify my post. I assume most posters are in my boat. We have been using them as a stand-in for actual responses for 36 years that I know about. I am not surprised by it. I am not nearly intelligent enough to figure out why you are, so please indulge my stupidity and explain your surprise to me.
  15. I would like it, but why would Calgary do that?
  16. False. By the last CBA, teams must give their players something like 5 days off a month. These dates are pre-approved by the NHL and the NHLPA before the season begins. The only exception allowed is for a rescheduled game.
  17. Well, we certainly have learned about what happens when you have very young players learn in the NHL. I hope management has.
  18. The two points about the rules evolving or changing after the All-Star Break and the players being so inexperienced work together to make their current slide more precipitous. Most of them have no real idea on how much officiating changes at this time of year. (Recall that last year's team was more of a veteran team.) It is really a flaw in the NHL's system that officiating standards change so drastically and these guys are, in part, learning to deal with that frustration. It is part of their growth.
  19. Until Adams proves to me that he will value goaltending, I am assuming that we will see more of the same until Levi arrives.
  20. However, if I am correct, then it does mean that he thinks that dumpster diving for interim goaltenders is good enough until Levi is ready in 3-5 years and the team will make the playoffs in the meantime.
  21. My theory is because his Cup ring came with inferior goaltending with no clear #1, not to mention immense bad luck in injuries by Montreal, Buffalo, and Edmonton, that GMKA just does not value goalkeeping as much as he should. If he fails as a GM, I would bet heavy money that it will be because of this apparent blind spot.
  22. UPL is 24. He should not have played a game in the NHL yet. Maybe UPL works in a few years.
  23. Even though I think that this is a quasi-satirical thread, I can make a rational argument to change the PK coach. I can't think of anyone else.
  24. Housley's 2nd season.
