  1. I am trying to figure out how Salt Lake City supports both the Jazz and the Coyotes running at the same time.
  2. Huh? I had season tickets from 1995-2004. In most of Hasek's years, the Sabres played an all-out offence because they could trust Hasek to cover their ***** while the forwards cheated towards offence because our top scorers got HALF of what other teams' scorers got. I used to laugh at how many odd-man rushes and how much zone time that the Sabres would concede -- particularly in the 2nd period on the road.
  3. The one it might hurt is Savoie if the Sabres determine that he is not getting enough out of Juniors. He can't be in Rochester next season.
  4. According to their fans, Krebs and Mittelstadt are below the minimum the team would want. You are probably talking 2023 1st, Rousek, and something else if he comes with an extension. On the other hand, they might take Olofsson to keep the team quasi-competitive. The other thing that works against a potential deal is how long would Helleybuck want an extension for? He could probably get top dollar for a lot of years if he finds the right spot. I can't see the Sabres giving him that.
  5. He asked out the previous summer, but Pegula and Adams helped bring in guys whom they thought would get the team into the playoffs. On paper, the acquisitions made sense. On the ice,...
  6. If he deserves it, then good for him.
  7. Thanks for the heads-up. I have been listening to both games.
  8. St. Louis: Gateway to the West
  9. Aren't most of guys in Toronto's core UFAs after next season and thus need a bunch of extensions this year?
  10. I see the Bandits won.
  11. Columbus, Ohio is Cow Town. Detroit, Michigan is Motown. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is Steel City. Denver, Colorado is Mile High City.
  12. I HATE that rule. It should be just like an icing.
  13. I personally would deal best with a Rochester sweep so that the question becomes academic.
  14. The real question in Philadelphia is not who these guys are, but what the owner wants. He does not like rebuilds.
  15. Interesting: he has Axel Sandin Pelikka over Reinbacher.
  16. Even with their effectiveness becoming more limited, I would prefer Girgensons and Okposo at decent contracts over Kane here at the veteran minimum. They play the game we need more of.
  17. He keeps his rocking chair at centre ice.
  18. One reason I wanted GMKA to push for the playoffs was so that he could be a bit more cold-blooded with Girgensons and Okposo if we had made it because they would have got their reward for sticking with the team. He may be a little too loyal to them this off-season. I think moving Olofsson is inevitable. His 2-way play fell off a cliff this past season. I can see Savoie and Rousek coming in for him and Hinostroza. My question is what to do with Jost. He played OK, but he was abysmal on face-offs. I would like to get a better 3C than him next season who wins face-offs and kills penalties.
  19. Welcome back!
  20. No. No. No. No. No.
  21. See, I think grit means other things. No one hated Jay McKee, Chris Drury, or Mike Grier, but the all of them fit any definition of gritty that I can think of. Pay the price to screen the goalie on the power play. Stick up for your teammates if someone delivers a cheap shot. Take a hit to make a play. Battle for possession along the boards. Battle for positioning. Block shots. Get into passing lanes. It's doing all the little things that get your hands dirty to win.
  22. I wonder, even at 19, if there exists any rationale to keep Kulich in Rochester. On top of that, I can't think of a reason for Savoie to stay in Juniors or Rousek to be in Rochester either. That complicates my line-up projections for next year. On top of that, I have no feel for what kind of UFA we could sign. Could we get a JT Compher? Does anyone else think that GMKS has targeted Matt Roy out of LA? Skinner-Thompson-Tuch Peterka-Cozens-Quinn Mittlestadt-Krebs-Rousek Girgensons-Compher-Greenway Savoie, Kulich Samuelsson-Dahlin Power-Roy The UFA D from Boston Whose Name Momentarily Eludes Me-Lyubushkin Stillman, Clague Levi Comrie Pekka-Luukkonen Subban EDIT: with thanks to @French Collection, Clifton is the D I was thinking of.
  23. I put it on crumpets and English muffins too.
