I don't think so.

What about generic meltdowns over GMKA not trading picks?

A Top 4 Defenseman is Adams Top Priority per Lebrun
Marvin replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
No. Wrong type of player, wrong salary, probably too high a price. IMHO, we just needs few guys who play a boring, steady game. Oh, and welcome to the board! -
Figured it was Mogilny and then Miller; not exactly surprised it was flipped.

Bill Hajt would make sense. Unlike Schoeny, he did not break an ankle when he blocked shots.

You mean at the Chief's fashion show? -
If you know the Connery Bond movies really well, Austin Powers is that much funnier.

I don't think it was Guevremont. I was thinking it might have been Rene Robert.

No. I am asking a straight question. I personally would be the GM saying, "you can afford to lose Kulich or Savoie, so suck it up." And as long as the offers from other teams were comparable, I would take one of the other offers and then let the public know that the Sabres were being cheap and exaggerate the players offered. The idea is to undermine the support of an irrational, desperate fan base and to sow discontent among the younger players who would hear, perhaps erroneously, that the team had given up on them. I want to know what you would do. I personally would overpay somewhat if need be. I also would be more likely to overpay a bit to a rebuilding team out west. I also expect that until these holes are plugged, GMKA is going to have some tough negotiations with players on contracts and GMs on player prices because our weaknesses are so glaring.

This is a great idea. You can draw attention to more causes that way. -
This is what worries me with potential trades. GMs are going to ask for a massive overpayment because "Buffalo can afford it with its prospect pool." That could make a decent trade impossible. What should GMKA do if every trade he tries starts looking like the Chychrun negotiations? Some people here will love it because lose-lose for the Sabres is win-win for their desire to whine either about the failure to make a move or bad asset management. For the rest of us, what would you do if every potential trade counter-offer is on the order of Quinn for Hanifin or Cozens for DeMelo?

I will speak for myself. Pesce is #5 in Carolina and will be #4 here. If we are unwilling to clearly lose a trade to get what we need, as appears to be the case, then we need to value Pesce that way as well. I think too much about how much Peterka grew last year to trade him for Pesce. If I am trading Peterka, I want someone back who projects to what I think he is or is already near that level. When it comes to predicting what players will become, I am reminded of the following saying: Prognostication is very difficult, particularly if it is about the future; therefore, he who lives by the crystal ball soon learns to eat ground glass.

No way on Karlsson. He is more of the same type of D and gets a lot of points on the power play. Would you really want to bench Dahlin or Power from the PP?

As I think about it, the Bruins are rumoured to not even give Frederic his QO.

I would not get Gibson without a lot of backing documentation about how he can and why he should rebound.

Mal Davis? Really?

According to Pierre Lebrun, Sabres have interest in Brett Pesce.

Would a second and a lower-tiered prospect OK with you? -

The Bud Light boycott was the first one of its type to work since the anti-apartheid boycotts. From what I read across the political spectrum, corporations are spooked by right wing boycotts because they make it across the Republican political campaigns. -

The problem is that the NHL is worried about a Bud Light-type boycott in emerging markets. -
The NHL needs to open on 1 October at the latest.

A couple of Sabres fan sites in my news feed are also on this bandwagon. I am far less confident. That is why I think the off-season is a partial failure if a senior goalkeeper for Levi is not signed by GMKA.

How much does John Muckler's opinion of him matter? I think the hockey media might defer to him saying that Mogilny was not the most defencively conscientious in Buffalo and that would be the end of his chances.

Jody Gage did not play enough games, did he?

I think it is neither. As currently made up, the team has no young guys coming in who excite the current players while the existing team, like Winnipeg, could be stuck in mediocrity without a rebuild. If you are on the older side with only 1 or 2 years left, wouldn't you prefer to get moved to greener pastures. Question: I have read that the Western Canadian teams have directives from on high not to ever do a true rebuild. Given the loyalty and passion of the fanbases, that seems very short-sighted is this true?
