  1. This is mine.
  2. It should be noted that, whatever else people like, the Sabres played better in white uniforms last year.
  3. Did you know that people held that against him?
  4. You can't handle the truth!
  5. This screws up Wing Fest, doesn't it?
  6. Listening to these old games reminds me that I hate, hate, hate the trend of chatter during game play.
  7. Crozier, Daley, and I think Dryden.
  8. I just found a UK broadcast of that game and of a Sabres-Jets game from the middle of 1985-6. And now the Montreal game that eliminated the Sabres from the playoffs in April 1986.
  9. I was watching a playoff on, I think, ESPN and I saw the Sabres up 5-3. When I saw that they lost, I swore so loudly that I was thrown out of the campus bar.
  10. And, in the words of Mike Grier, "the Sabres 'travel well.'" There is a reason even bad Sabres teams got a lot of national broadcasts: the US ratings are higher when they are on. The Sabres are pretty safe by this metric.
  11. And I hope that he has learnt the lesson well.
  12. When I have heard him, Weiland has always been candid in his commentary on the state of the Sabres.
  13. Paul Wieland.
  14. For the remodeling, could they widen the seats because I am, er, uh, we as a country are getting, um, burlier? I barely fit into corner seats on the 100 level when the arena opened.
  15. Now that is trivia.
  16. Luce wore 20. Standard NHL dimensions is 200'x85'.
  17. On my tape which I can't find, of the "Thank You, Sabres" game, Rick was with Paul Wieland on the radio. Rick worked with Pat Hannigan on cable.
  18. Gilbert and Carmen knew my parents at PTA -- but only because my mom was fluent in French. I recall vaguely my mom saying that was the only reason she got to know them at all.
  19. For those in Musk-verse, is it daily or weekly?
  20. I really miss that.
  21. There are videos of HNIC on YouTube with Foster Hewitt's early work, where he is pretty stilted, to the Summit Series, where he is old and gets winded in long periods of action. He is at his best in the early 1960s. I liked Bob Cole, but Hewitt, Kelly, Gallivan, and Jeanneret are a clear tier above -- which says something about how good they were.
  22. Rhett Warrener for Mike Wilson for you youngsters. Similar lower-key acquisitions like Jochen Hecht and Mike Grier would apply here too.
  23. I had a late friend who was something like employee 75 at Twitter. Before he passed, he mentioned how much Twitter had twisted what they had hoped it would be -- just a good way for people to stay connected with friends.
  24. That was the one that I saw in my news feed before posting my question!
  25. Water is wet too.
