Welcome to the board!
-
My head says that the last one has to be Joe Daley.
-
Let's go, Buffalo!
-
Fair enough.
-
No. Miller and Numminen are really the only 2 candidates that I can think of. A Buffalo Cup win could have put them and possibly Drury in.

I read this somewhere last night. If someone could post a link, I would be much obliged. I have a hard time coming up with any team that was 1st overall without a Hall of Gamer. What do you think?
-
Those could age very poorly.
-
You are sooooooooooo lucky.
-
So a non-corrupt version of Alan Eaglesom?
-
So the two HoFers who played for the same team their entire career while it moved also played in both the US and Canada. That feels very much against the odds. Oh, and Red Green as a name always reminded me of a player from post-WWI era named Rocket Power.
-
I had forgotten that about him.
-
If memory serves, the first one was Floyd Smith. The third one was Tony McKegney.

Sabres on Sportsnet in Canada 2023-24 schedule - 28 games

Welcome back! -
One thing that just hit me is that the Penguins really turned up the intensity after the Krebs-Crosby fight and the Sabres did not match it. On this front, no.

How concerned is Sabrespace about the defense and goaltending?

Welcome back! -
One thing that all the experimenting in the preseason has done is keeping players from developing chemistry. I saw a lot of hesitancy in the passing the last few games because players were unsure of where they should be, where they should go, and where others should be. What worries me the most from the above is how often players got lost in their assignments. For instance, on the first goal, it is some forward's assignment to drop back when Dahlin goes deep in the zone. But no one did, which indicates a lack of communication or a lack of awareness. When they executed their system at both ends, they were very good -- but there were a lot of breakdowns.

An easy one that I want to ask this so that people will try and find some older Sabres games on YouTube. Who was "The Voice of the Buffalo Sabres?"
-
That is not an answer to my question. I want to know where he should be in the Sabres line-up in the regular season. "In the press box" or anything similar is not an answer. I am asking that if we assume he is one of the 12 forwards dressed, where is the best place to put him?
-
Question: if Benson is on the opening night line-up, then where does he belong?
-
The first one is Dahlin. The second one is Billy Inglis.
-
Do we need "Don't Panic" written in large, friendly letters at the top of the website?
-
One thing that I would have liked to see was a more work on defencive positioning from the entire line-up. Some forwards clearly lose their place in the defensive structure far more often than others. It is clear that they are practicing a more sophisticated defencive structure than last year, but not everyone has absorbed their lessons yet.

Annual expectations thread 2023/24: #28 Zemgus Girgensons
Marvin replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I give Kyle Okposo a lot of credit for helping Girgensons and Larsson reinvent themselves by partially reinventing himself to avoid more head injuries. Like Kyle, Zemgus does all the necessary but boring and unnoticed things really well. Every team needs guys in the locker room who embraced the role of doing all the dirty jobs that everyone hates doing. -
The players of those teams would disagree. I called Jim Schoenfeld on with Paul Maguire on the Budweiser Sports Line and asked what Tim Horton's acquisition and death meant to the team. He choked up and then gave a very passionate explanation on how that team grew up because of Horton and Crozier. I remember him saying that after he died, "we would look down the bench for help from Timmy, but he wasn't there." I also remember Schoenfeld and others weeping openly during the moment of silence after his death.

Does covering up Olofsson's weaknesses by putting him out there with Girgensons and Okposo make sense? They create chances that they usually can not cash in, so VO might be useful there while having them compensate for his shortcomings.
