I roll Zemgus out there in all tough situations to insulate Mittlestadt and Cozens. He has the mental toughness to handle the role (cf. The Tank Season), is defencively responsible, and can handle the load. I might try Skinner-Girgensons-Okposo to help maximise the insulation for the youth; Skinner can cash in all the rebounds the other two produce.

Just thinking on what would it take for a trade before training camp. In an Eichel trade, what ways are there for other teams to mitigate their risk because of Eichel's injury? All I can come up with are: Conditional picks. Quality players with injuries which have long recovery times. Once I hit on that, I have to ask if either is acceptable to GMKA and T&KP.

Cynic's view: he's trying to help Eichel out by undermining the Sabres. He picked his side a few weeks ago in another interview. The media and players are really trying to help other teams get Eichel for an ROR deal.

In all the off-seasons before the years you mentioned, the Sabres made key moves which helped and also got some luck. Let us hope something like that happens soon.

With all the talk of goaltending, what is up with Mike Bales? Surely he had some input into whom the Sabres signed.
