  1. Having something like the LOG line to drive the other teams' best line nuts can be very important. I absolutely would try to do this.
  2. Every time someone refers to basketball players wearing goggles, I always think of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from "Airplane."
  3. Las Vegas has to be regretting their coaching change plus dumping Marc-Andre Fleury -- not to mention their current injuries.
  4. @mjd1001 The problem is that we're fans. Even coaches and GMs have longer time horizons than we do.
  5. I just realised that Anderson is over DeLuca 0.500 with this team. That is about as impressive as Ullmark last year. GMKA really needs to get this right for UPL, Levi, Portillo, and Subban.
  6. I personally would move only 2 players or so and only as favours to them. IMHO, you can make more changes over the summer because players should expect a few guys at locker clean-out day to not be here next season.
  7. Can we get to the same number of wins as the best March since the last lockout? That would be surprising, but cool.
  8. No. It was aliens. Get your conspiracies straight! Now, let me put on my tin foil turban...
  9. At the time, I heard rumours that Krueger was who Botterill wanted when Housley got the job, but XHCRK could not get out of his contract. His name came up again when Housley got fired. Moreover, it seems unlikely to me that the Pegulas brought in Krueger on their own or, even less likely, over the GM's objections. IMHO, at the absolute least Botterill was OK with Krueger being brought in for an interview.
  10. Skinner, Thompson, Tuch, Krebs, Cozens, Mittlestadt, Dahlin, Jokiharu, Samuelsson, and Bryson make 10. Some people they bring in next year will stay. I don't know what happens with Okposo, Girgensons, Hinostroza, et al. I actually expect at least one of them to be here. Maybe Asplund, Hayden, Jankowski, etc. shuttle between Buffalo and Rochester. That is still a fair amount of continuity. I also expect the players should anticipate there being changes. 50% turnover in a rebuilding team over 2 years is hardly outlandish. If I were GMKA, I would ask each player who really helped them keep going when there was adversity and emphasise keeping them if at all possible. However, performance matters and the players know it. No matter how popular someone is, that person is likely to be let go if he is doing poorly enough. And GMKA may not trade everyone who might be movable at the deadline for late round picks -- he might figure that it would be easier for the team to deal with players leaving after locker clean out. Indeed, it would be a blunder to trade, say, all 4 veteran defencemen and a slew of forwards at the deadline for late picks or deck shuffling at the bottom of the roster.
  11. I also don't see 50% of the roster changing. Skinner, Thompson, Tuch, Krebs, Cozens, Mittlestadt, Okposo, Girgensons, Dahlin, Jokiharu, Samuelsson, and Bryson are nailed in place. For the prices being thrown around, I expect Hinostroza, Olofsson, and Asplund are staying. I imagine Hagg, Pysyk, Butcher, and Miller to draw varying amounts of interest, but at most 3 are moved. A hockey trade may be in the cards, but I don't see 10 people being changed between now and next season. Indeed, I expect there to be a lot of continuity aside from a veteran RHD being added.
  12. I would argue that the Risto trade was a positive because I don't have to watch all his gaffes. IMHO, every Sabres D this year has been better than he was. But as you said, he has some very stern tests coming.
  13. Ouch. That has got to hurt.
  14. I was thinking of Hinostroza, Girgensons, Asplund, Ruotsalainen, and Jankowski as candidate tentative 4th liners next year. I would send Bjork to Rochester. Maybe we drop Okposo here if Peterka or our 1st round pick make the roster.
  15. This line-up and the ones of the other teams of the XGMTM and XGMJB eras are a scathing indictment of their abilities to create full NHL line-ups.
  16. They can't. Stone is having problems recovering from his injury. He's on LTIR for real for the moment.
  17. The NHL highlight video of the game in my YouTube feed has the play-by-play from SportsNet rather than TNT. That is a damning critique of the TNT broadcast.
  18. You Da MAN!
  19. Are you arguing that they were worse than Dunleavy and Ray?
  20. Go to WCMF. WGR play app has a bug.
  21. I think he's referring to the style of hockey the Leafs play.
  22. The same way that Al Smith "saluted" the Knoxes and Imlach when he was passed over for Don Edwards?
  23. If memory serves, that is the original uniform of the team which became the Toronto Maple Leafs.
  24. Welcome to the board.
