  1. If he's this good relative to his peers while being almost a full year younger, I would give him a serious look a bit earlier than his ranking would indicate. That bridge is often difficult to overcome at his age.
  2. It once was who got possession. I don't know what it is now.
  3. Welcome back to the board.
  4. There has to be a meme for the LVGK fustercluck, right?
  5. From what I have seen, Eichel has played decently. But LVGK has no depth scoring, their team D is prone to breakdowns, and their goaltending is suspect. And they can't activate the players they need from LTIR who would improve these things.
  6. This reminds me of an old sketch from "Dave Allen at Large": It is approaching sunrise and Dracula is making haste back to his coffin. He makes menacing noises and gestures at anything that disturbs him, like an owl hooting. He makes it back to the crypt. As he returns to lay in his coffin, on the screen, we see in horror-movie lettering, "The Curse of Dracula." Then he closes the coffin, but accidently slams it on his hand. Dracula flings the coffin open, grabs his wounded hand, and yells, "AH, <censored>!"
  7. Sorry to be someone diagnosed as clinically thick, but what does this mean? Check your eyes?
  8. Does KORN radio have a streaming service?
  9. I see that Jiricek and Nemec are both right shots. Hmm...
  10. Some of the best country music performances ever were on that programme.
  11. (Apologies to John Barry, Leslie Bricusse, Anthony Newley, and Shirley Bassey.) Goaltenders. They're the men -- the men with the Midas Gloves. While catching pucks. Feel free to delete this post.
  12. Maybe -- but the inside-out version looks like a Bruins jersey to me.
  13. People have known about Georgiev pouting and whining for weeks. He's also been terrible this season. We would be better off with Tokarski and Houser next season than Georgiev.
  14. I don't like Georgiev's attitude in New York. Whatever we do, look elsewhere. We need at least 0.910 save percentage.
  15. By points percentage, the top 8 in the East haven't changed since NOVEMBER. Wow.
  16. He, Hasek, Johnny Bower, and a few others were the exception, not the rule. I just would not take that chance.
  17. As it is now, we have FOUR young goaltenders who need at least a couple of veteran mentors. I believe Tokarski is signed for next year, so he would be one of them. Meanwhile, relying on a 41-year-old goaltender as even a frequent back-up in the NHL would be mind-boggling at best. We need something much more sure and much younger to tide us over for at least a couple of years. (This is why I was OK with signing Ullmark at a fairly high salary for 4 years.) Ideally, Pysyk is #7 behind Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, Jokiharu, and a pair of new, veteran, top 4 RHD. Alternatively, he rotates with a new top 4 D and pairs variously with Power and Dahlin, only getting lesser minutes. I personally expect Pysyk and Hinostroza to be here next year while a couple of other guys are moved.
  18. I can't recall any ever. For a long time, so many teams made it in that there was always a race somewhere.
  19. What we learned is that the Sabres' treasure are other teams' trash. If a good locker room guy like Cody Eakin is traded for a conditional 7th (my maximum value for him), how does the rest of the team react? I know I would take it pretty hard -- I look up to him, but everyone else in hockey looks down on him, so what does that say about me? That kind of thinking has to be in their subconscious.
  20. I never have.
  21. As I reflect what GMKA might have been thinking about when assembling this roster, I think he went out of his way to not get some bigger fish because of what happened with Taylor Hall and Eric Staal last year and that a lot of them might have come off like mercenaries. Indeed, Hall in particular came off as a mercenary to me, which can't have been good for an already dysfunctional locker room. That is probably where "wants to be here" originated -- no mercenaries allowed. That is not to downplay the financials. After spending almost to the cap for The Failure, erm, Tank, I imagine when GMKA said the word "rebuild the culture and the roster" to the Pegulas, they said something like, "could you not overspend then?" After all, they took a financial bath on the team last season. The fans' antipathy towards last year's team and the lack of season tickets sales probably warned them that there would be a lot less money coming in this season, so a lower payroll would have been welcome. I also think the Pegulas know the terrible reputation the franchise has in hockey circles, so rebuilding the culture would have been high on their "to do" list.
  22. Let us see. Assuming just internal promotions, the roster next year (warts and all) looks like: Skinner-Thompson-Tuch / Peterka-Krebs-Quinn / Cozens-Mittlestadt-Olofsson / Asplund-Hinostroza-Girgensons-Okposo-Ruotsalainen Dahlin-Bryson / Power-Pysyk / Samuelsson-Jokiharu / Johnson-Fitzgerald Pekka-Lukkonnen / Levi / Portillo / Subban / Tokarski Glaring weaknesses: 1 RD, 2 RD, 1 G, 2G Problems: forward depth, defencive defencemen, proven NHL goaltending. Overloads: LD We might need to move a pair of LHDs for RHDs. Ideally, Pysyk would slide to #7 for me, although maybe he's the short-term partner for Dahlin or Power. I feel very funky about having Tokarski on the big club. UPL is still iffy for me. Levi and Portillo are a few years away. I don't know where or if Subban fits anywhere. Let's have at it...
  23. I scoured the reputable rumour mongers over the weekend and only found one mention of Colin Miller (Spector's Hockey). I imagine his long-term injury damaged whatever value he had.
  24. I personally would have moved Miller for a D for Rochester. JMO.
