I'm always surprised how this team plays counter to conventional wisdom (CW). CW says they should be tired and easy to exploit by a Montreal team that plays an annoying, but good, style of trap and go hockey. My guess is the Sabres will play decent in the first when by all rights they shouldn't. Divisional teams have been our toughest foes this year. If Montreal wants to catch the Sabres, they need this game. They'll be motivated, we'll be tired. The Sabres will have to steal one to get a win tonight.

Fantastic game tonight. Time to get out the worry beads though. This is NOT the type of game you want on back-to-back nights with a travel requirement as well. They have to be tired with all the effort exerted in the 3rd and OT to pull this one out. Having to go to Montreal after the game and play a rested team provides room for concern. KOTALIK saved VANEK bacon tonight... Remember when the Sabres were feared for their short handed goals. Now we watch in fear as teams burn us at least once maybe twice every week shorthanded. Back in the points lead. Anaheim lost to Calgary and Nashville was idle. Wow Anaheim was 2-6-2 in their last ten before they lost tonight. Do you think they miss Pronger and their goal tenders?

Seems to me that Roy is taking a bunch of penaltites in the last several games. Sabres down again to start the third.

I was watching the CBC telecast yesterday. I thought the CBC guys were very complimentary to Buffalo and their game.

Great bounce back game. Marty played well. Too bad he let that 3rd goal in off his glove. He saw it all the way. Glad to see the Leafs go down. Montreal lost to the Rangers, and the Devils took care of Ottawa, so this was a good day. Buffalo is now the point leader in both conferences and the first to 30 wins... :worthy: :beer: :worthy:

I wish we could play Pittsburgh more. This is my style of hockey.. How many pucks have been lost in Sabres skates in front of the goal in the offensive zone tonight?? Another couple of inches and Vanek would have jammed that bounce off the boards into the empty net. That was soooo close... I agree, Roy is flying tonight... I'm officially worried. We haven't had such a dominating period in a long time and we got nothing to show for it. Ottawa took our best effort and withstood it. I suspect that the Sens will get many more chances in the second.. Hope I'm wrong... Played 4-3 and their 3 outplayed our 4 badly.
