  1. A 2017 review found that there was no evidence that ban had a significant effect on firearm homicides. A 2014 study found no impacts on homicide rates with an assault weapon ban.[29] A 2014 book published by Oxford University Pressnoted that "There is no compelling evidence that [the ban] saved lives." A 2013 study showed that the expiration of the FAWB in 2004 "led to immediate violence increases within areas of Mexico located close to American states where sales of assault weapons became legal. The estimated effects are sizable... the additional homicides stemming from the FAWB expiration represent 21% of all homicides in these municipalities during 2005 and 2006." In 2013, Christopher S. Koper, a criminology scholar, reviewed the literature on the ban's effects and concluded that its effects on crimes committed with assault weapons were mixed due to its various loopholes. He stated that the ban did not seem to affect gun crime rates, and suggested that it might have been able to reduce shootings if it had been renewed in 2004. There’s a lot more info in the link below. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Assault_Weapons_Ban I want this crap to stop as much as the next person… I truly do. But I really think that it needs to be a combination of several things… And not just a broad sweeping Generalization that is ignorantly politically charged. And something that is long lasting and multipronged. And not ONLY the taking away of a gun. In part? Yes. The only answer? No. I find nothing disingenuous about calling a criminal a criminal the moment they walk into a school with a gun. Once they pull that trigger and kill more than one person… Then they would be considered a mass murdering criminal. at least that’s how I see it. And I don’t find anything disingenuous about that statement at all. Agree to disagree I guess. if need be, make soft targets into hard targets. If that’s what it’s going to take. In part… If that’s what it’s going to take to help in keeping people safer. And I stress… As part of a multiprong solution.
  2. The moment they carry a gun in the school, they are criminals. The moment they carry a gun in a school and pull the trigger they are criminals with the intent to kill. So yes criminals are carrying out these mass murders. You see it one way I see it the other. So be it. and it’s a mix of getting the guns illegally and in the “underground network “ AND getting the guns legally in the states that allow it. it’s not 100% one-way or 100% the other way. you see it one way and I see it the other. So be it. and I’m not arguing anything… And I’m not belittling your or anyones opinion. I’m giving peoples opinions what it deserves. Respect. Sure I can go down an ugly Road and do name calling that does nothing. But I personally don’t want to go down that road. Do people seriously not have the ability anymore to give an opinion without name calling the other opinion? 😔
  3. Not at all. It’s smart. As long as “assault rifles” is very exact and specific, I’d probably be totally for that law. At the same time can we pass legislation that says if a (now illegal) assault rifle is used in ANY crime you instantly get life in prison without the possibility of parole? OR if the criminal kills with it, they get the death penalty that gets carried out within 2-3 years of being convicted? Something that has some major teeth (punishment). Compromise give and take legislation. Just Possession of the (now illegal) assault rifle gets you 15 years in prison without the possibility of parole. Again, something that has major teeth. Compromising on both sides can work. Well I typed what I meant. And I didn’t type that. Sorry if some want to take it that way. 😔
  4. Did you just put words in my mouth about not trying? I hope not. Let’s not get angry with each other. That’s silly. 👍🏼
  5. WASHINGTON, D.C. -- 32% of U.S. adults say they personally own a gun, while a larger percentage, 44%, report living in a gun household. Adults living in gun households include those with a gun in their home or anywhere on their property. Gallup has tracked both metrics of gun ownership annually since 2007, showing no clear increase or decrease in gun ownership over that time. https://news.gallup.com/poll/264932/percentage-americans-own-guns.aspx https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2021/09/13/key-facts-about-americans-and-guns/ https://americangunfacts.com/gun-ownership-statistics/ Both sexes, all political spectrums, all sexual orientations, all races, all ages own guns in the US. The criminals will get guns and use them even if tomorrow all guns are banned in the United States. Banning any and all guns from US citizens is a fantasy solution. I think a combination of many ideas from clear minded, common sense, compromising lawmakers is the only thing that well lesson The frequency of this type of thing happening… It will never 100% prevent it no matter what happens. Too many sick and driven people in the world. At least that’s how I see it. The amount of people that illegally possess (unregistered) guns in the United States is freaking staggering from what I remember. i’m looking for that information now, if it’s even out there. Because it’s not really tracked. I remember reading a couple articles about that a year or two ago.
  6. I’ve personally never used Facebook marketplace… But I know plenty of friends who have… And they’ve had success. I have personally used craigslist… And I’ve had success. If you have a smart phone there is also an app called OfferUp. That’s very easy and convenient to do… And I’ve had success selling things on there too. Just do yourself a favor and no matter what you do don’t ever give out your phone number to anybody. And if The furniture is movable without too much difficulty… Meet somebody in a public area… like a store parking lot. Not your own home. Or if worst case scenario… Put the furniture in your garage… So they are not walking in your home. At least those are my experiences and Preferences. i’m currently in the market for a used gas stove in very good condition… For my rental property. So I’ve been looking on Facebook marketplace and craigslist and offer up for that.
  7. This sounds like something taken from the Rachel Maddow show 😂 But seriously … name-calling does nothing on either side of the political aisle. And only the ignorant eat up those name calling labels. Things are much more nuanced and contextualized than broad stroke brushing of an issue that the media and politicians love to do on either side of the political aisle. Both parties are pretty ugly for various reasons. I love hearing and watching long formatted Conversations that are respectful, void of ignorant name-calling, and both sides give concessions to achieve a solution. The best thing you can hope for is both sides don’t like what the final solution is, because it often means that the solution is a combination of both sides giving up something to achieve the greater good or best solution. Common ground. But the problem lies when one party thinks only their ideas are the greater good and must be right. Which of course is very shortsighted and ignorant. At least that’s how I see it. Politicians who score political points on the backs of dead innocent humans is an ugly thing. But you’ll see in the 24 hour news cycle… Plenty of news outlets giving a voice to those ignorant politicians to score those ignorant political points. And sadly a good chunk of the public will eat it up and spit it back out to anyone who will listen tomorrow. And defend it without knowing what they are doing or saying. At least that’s how I see it.
  8. Responsible legal gun ownership. By and large, Not the problem. mentally disturbed people. It’s a problem and help and treatment is severely underfunded. It’s very sad. illegal gun/stolen gun ownership. There is not hard-core severe punishment and penalties for illegally owning guns or possessing stolen guns. there’s too many slap on the wrists with those who have stolen guns in their possession or illegal guns. That may not deter The mentally disturbed individuals… But it certainly would deter a good portion of those who are not, and intend to do harm with those illegal or stolen guns. I bet everyone of those parents in the school shooting… And every family of the slain individuals and Buffalo… Wish there were more armed individuals to immediately eliminate the threat as it happened in that moment of real time. I know that if I was a parent of one of those school kids I would want more responsible gun owners in that school and are willing to take on any immediate threat to the safety of my kid and all kids. and I know someone who has a friend and their family member died in the Buffalo shooting. And that is exactly what they said… That they wish more people were armed at that time in that store at that moment to eliminate that immediate threat. Before the police even arrived. And they were not the only family members Who had loved ones die that day, to expressed that thought. most of the time… when there is an active shooter, You cannot wait around for the police to save the day AND keep the body count as low as possible. I think the solution is a combination of a bunch of things… But the politicians spouting ONLY more gun control and the ignorant masses who agree with it… I don’t think is the solution. It’s gotta be a combination of a few things. There aren’t enough hard-core punishments against those who have illegal guns, or stolen guns just in their possession… Let alone in the commission of a crime. Start there. Better mental health evaluations and checks. Start there also. Then see if that helps with this ugly scourge. And if those two things don’t do it… Then move on and look at other solutions. At least that’s how I see it.
  9. I can’t root for the Candy Canes (unless it’s vs Boston or Toronto). So this round it’s the Rangers for me.
  10. The hubris of that scumbag to call himself governor and not former governor.
  11. I don’t mind players who play with an edge… I mind when that edge turns to dirty play or intent to injure. Sample of Why I never liked Nazem Kadri. And like the scum bag Marchand, never will.
  12. Blaming a win or a loss on one player on a team sport… Is the lowest hanging fruit and intellectually dishonest.
  13. The hockey gods want Tampa to lose this game 😂
  14. FL is hanging on for dear life. They need to capitalize on their chances, as rare as they are. ….. Doh!
  15. “Evander Kane's salary is $1,375,000 and his cap hit is $2,108,696 for the 2021-22 season. His salary is comprised of $625,000 in signing bonuses and $750,000 in base salary. He is a 30 year old left wing who was born on Aug. 2, 1991. He was drafted 4th overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 1st round of the 2009 entry draft. He has signed 4 contracts worth a total value of $91,175,000. Over a career that spans 13 seasons (with at least 1 NHL GP), he has a total 545 Pts in 812 GP, and 23 playoffs Pts in 38 GP. He will be a UFA at the end of the 2021-22 season when he is 30 years old.” Oilers took a gamble … and it’s paying off right now.
  16. Many many were saying that THE YEAR they were drafted. Maybe even in their sophomore year. But NOT beyond that. At least not that I remember. And yes…. McDavid is quite fun to watch work his magic.
  17. This is a decade old, but I imagine this is still relatively valid still … if it’s not someone post more updated info.. ”There is an agreement in place between the NHL and the CHL (Canadian Hockey League, the overarching organization beneath which stand the OHL, the WHL, and the QMJHL) which exists primarily to protect the CHL. The rule is as follows: Players drafted and playing for CHL teams are ineligible to play in the professional minor leagues (AHL, ECHL) until they are 20 years old (by December 31st of that year) or have completed four years in major juniors.” https://www.stanleycupofchowder.com/2012/8/1/3213217/bruins-nhl-chl-ahl-agreement-CBA-talks-2012
  18. Good fast paced 1st period
  19. Nice goal by Reinhart
  20. Updated OP … if I missed something please let me know 👍🏼
  21. Well, what exactly makes ya’ll have that opinion?
  22. It’s not. Not to mention rumor is Tkachuk is all about Tkachuk. Some like to ignore that. If that is in fact true… I want him nowhere near this current Sabres team.
  23. Good god the goaltending sucks for both teams. And the D. It’s like freaking pond hockey. i’ll predict no other game this series will be this crazy as far as the amount of goal scoring.
  24. 11 goals so far?!?! Is it that the goalies suck? The defense on each team sucks? The coaching systems suck? all the above? 😂
  25. Did you also use the word “impatient”? 😂
