Could someone try to dig up what other broadcast teams do this. Are Sabres the ONLY team doing this?

I must have a unique view of Krebs. I think he sees the ice like Reinhart, has terrific passing (not as good as Reinhart but developing towards it), and is a hard worker who wants to get better and has shown improvement from when he was with the Vegas franchise. I have confidence he’ll continue to improve in the coming months and years. I couldn’t care less if he turns out to be an NHL center or a winger. I’ll just be happy happy if he develops into a solid contributor on the team. Just the way I see it.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office announced that a former member of the Buffalo Sabres, 64-year-old Anthony “Tony” S. McKegney, was arraigned in Buffalo City Court on July 8, 2022. He is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal contempt. The district attorney's office said between April 2, 2022 and April 8, 2022 McKegney allegedly placed multiple phone calls and sent e-mails to the victim knowingly in violation of an existing order of protection that was issued by an Erie County Family Court Judge on March 25, 2022. McKegney was released on his own recognizance and the case is pending before Buffalo City Court Judge Diane Wray. He is scheduled to return on October 4 and if convicted of the highest charge he faces a maximum sentence of four years in prison. McKegney played five seasons with the Sabres from 1978 to 1982. He played in 363 games across those five seasons and had 127 goals and 141 assists for 268 points.

That’s something I personally have noticed DG doing. He likes keeping two guys together more times then not, and swapping out the third guy to help with chemistry or who’s hot at the time. It’s not an absolute practice, but I seem to remember this happening often last season.

Like many early preseason games… This will be a prospect/AHL team vs. prospect/AHL team. I am personally not drawing very much from it good or bad regardless of the score. but overall hockey is back and it will be nice to watch (in my case listen) the sweaters flying around the ice again.

The Sabres have a rich history of naming someone captain and within 1 to 3 seasons … that captain is no longer a Sabre. So it’s certainly not out of the ordinary, if they’re named KO captain for one season. And the Sabres absolutely will not retain half of his salary in order to move him. So that point is moot. KO will be a leader this season regardless of a letter being slapped on his jersey.

The last few years… There have been Jumbotron feeds with online streaming. Not every game. Just some. And sometimes you get the Jumbotron feeds and PxP from the opposing teams broadcasters. I long for the day where every single Sabres preseason game is at least streamed on sabres.com. We haven’t gotten there yet…

Exactly. I don’t understand how sometimes people want to read so deeply into players comments, coaches comments, or GM’s comments and make more out of it, or misinterpret them to twist to their own agenda or hopes. And it happens all the time. People put too much faith into what “public figures” say to media.

I have a sneaking suspicion they don’t want a $2.2 million popcorn munching press box vet who only gets the occasional game. Not to mention, the coaching staff and GM value him and view him as much more than a JAG. Sooooo it’s not gonna happen the way it seems you are hoping it happens.

I think the Sabres make it to 81-89 points this season. Unless the goaltending and D fall off a cliff, which could happen.
