The driving ban in Buffalo will be lifted tonight. Or early early in the morning. There will not be an issue of the teams playing or the fans attending. The only issue is limited parking because of the snow removal/moving.
-
That is one idea that could have helped. With the 100% knowledge that this storm was gonna be very very nasty days in advance ⦠Another is issuing movement orders to the National guard on Wednesday morning to get staged locally in key areas with equipment. And if they werenāt needed, so be it. And if they are, they are already staged and ready to help Friday afternoon/evening. I have it on good authority, this idea was talked about and decided to take a wait and see approach. It also would not take much planning and execution to designate some schools or churches as disaster relief locations with modern dual fuel generators. Or designate larger buildings those that have large wood burning fireplaces. I know a few restaurants, country clubs, and institutions that have wood burning fireplaces that could house between a few dozen to several hundred people. I know itās a multi idea approach that a few posters have mentioned. All good to great ideas! A chain is as strong as itās weakest link. Find those weak links and fix it.

Media asked the Mayor if heāll resign as Mayor. Mayor snaps back and says āI donāt crumble or lose my mind in a crisisā grab your popcorn
-
Oh I agree. But the main āleadersā of the state, county and local failed the public to a degree. Itās not only the Mayor of the city. Itās embarrassing and sad on all fronts.
-
The county executive is going to talk to the governor about taking over future plowing responsibilities. Essentially taking it way from the mayor of Buffalo. The glass house finger pointing has begun.
-
Besides the snowmobile volunteers, Imagine if Erie and Niagara county shared a half dozen or so of these snowcat machines. They can be used. No need for brand new ones. They would have helped immensely with the medical emergencies for the last 4 days.

There are a lot of things āsnowā cities do better than Buffalo. This is definitely an easy no brainer. Not only Buffalo but the suburbs and all of Erie and Niagara county. This is just one thing out of a few things, the state, county, and local āleadersā can implement. They are so arrogant in thinking they know whatās best. And continue to fail when true leadership is required.
-
Bummer. But understandable.
-
Yes Iām glad they were ābetterā prepared this year compared to 45 years ago. Iāll just say, from what I know is different than what I think I know. And what I know is, leadership on all levels are doing a massive CYA maneuver and not being fully honest in press conferences. But what else is new with politicians and elected officials. No back pedaling or excuse making will change my mind on the incompetence the state, county, and local āleadersā have proven to me. It could have been handled much better. And wouldnāt have been difficult.
-
Without going into it, there were critical failures in the lead up. State level. County level. Local level.

Itās also verified itās not just food and medicine in many cases. Itās disgusting. ā¹ļø Price gouging going on in a few corner stores and plowing services. Sad. A couple elderly people were quoted $400 to clear a shorter driveway in Buffalo. Sick⦠There has also been heavy criticism from towns around the country who get a ton of snowfall. Asking the local āleadershipā, WTF are you doing? Very poor planning and execution before the storm even hit.š
-
Where are you in Amherst? Im in Williamsville near transit and Sheridan and we have approx 32-35ā end of driveway plow height is approx 45-48ā Just walked the neighborhood streets for 30 mins, and many people are clearing out or already cleared out.
-
Sad to see the death toll at 25 in Erie county so far ā¹ļø Neighbors starting to dig out more and more. Disgusting to see scum bags looting. WBEN is a great resource for updated info and for people to call in if they are in dire circumstances. Many stories of neighbors helping neighbors once they heard of their issues on WBEN.

Couldnāt they fly out at like 12:30-1:00 on Tuesday? Get to the game, do a warmup skate and play by 7:00? Or is that 100% unrealistic?
-
Spent another 90 mins outside snowblowing. Have most of my driveway done all the way to the street. Probably just in time for a plow to come down and bury the end of my driveway again š Going back out in a couple hours to do more picture is of my street about 3 hours after a plow came down once. Itās roughly 30-32ā deep. The ends of driveways are roughly 45ā deep.

Power came back on sometime overnight. Thank god.
