As long as it’s a reasonable contract that fits in with your typical third line type of money… I wouldn’t mind keeping Casey around for 3-5 more years. If his production is roughly 45-55 points a season and he isn’t a black hole defensively… That will be a very fair contract for both sides.

So what? the Sabres made the playoffs in their 3rd year of existence. the Golden Knights made the playoffs in their 1st year of existence. the Penguins made the playoffs in their 3rd year of existence. the Panthers made the playoffs in their 3rd year of existence. the Hurricanes made the playoffs in their 4th year of existence. the Sharks made the playoffs in their 3rd year of existence. I could go on and on with many more teams who have made the playoffs in their first, second, third or fourth year of existence.

You could do much much worse than Levi / UPL or Levi / Comrie. Hutton / Tokarski Lehner / Johnson That said, it would be nice to see a solid well liked vet who is willing to come in and teach/mentor/help for two years and split the net knowing they may get paid well, but the team may or may not be a serious contender to do damage in the post season. But who knows what could happen.

I think that’s the blindspot of a lot of fans. They ignorantly think the GM is doing nothing. And therefore is a failure because he’s doing nothing. Or they ignorantly think the GM is doing everything, but it just hasn’t gone his way yet. Then they base their opinions on those two extreme viewpoints. The thread I made a couple years ago regarding everything KA has done, definitely is in contrast to the mindset that the GM is doing nothing. Because “nothing“ and “not enough“ are two different things, but sometimes they get mashed together to mean the same thing by some fans. At least that’s how I see it.
