This team will look a lot different when the list needs to be submitted. Hopefully JB exposes the least “vital” pieces and we only lose a 3rd/4th liner like we lost Carrier. I bet almost half the “at risk” players today in June on the list won’t be on the list when the time arrives.

I think this is good criteria. Judge and include / discard players based on the following only. Do a Sabrespace poll with this as the basis. Take feelings and opinion out of it. Conversely, if a player completes the season of his 24th birthday without passing those milestones, then that player will no longer be considered a prospect by Hockey’s Future, regardless of the player’s status with his NHL club. An NCAA player who signs his first contract at or above the age of 22 has three years to meet the above criteria (65/45), while those NCAA players that turn pro under the age of 22 will be subjected to the criteria above. European players who sign their first NHL contract at or above the age of 22 have three seasons from the time they sign that contract to meet the above criteria. Those European players below the age of 22 that have signed a NHL contract will be subjected to the criteria in section one. Section one is the meat of the criteria as it will govern the majority of players that vie for a NHL roster spot. Sections two and three are simply an acknowledgement that some prospects arrive on the scene a bit later than their peers, thus needing some time past their 24th birthday to develop into an NHL-caliber player. The graduated list on team pages will consist of players who are considered graduated to the NHL. A skater prospect may sit on the graduated list until he has played 130 games in the NHL. A goalieprospect may sit on the graduated list until he has played 90 games in the NHL. NOTE: These are general guidelines and should be followed the majority of the time but certain players may still be listed as prospects if circumstances warrant. Also, for players that are close to either the 65-game (skaters) or 45-game (goaltenders) benchmark but have also clearly "arrived" as NHL players, HF reserves the right to remove these players from consideration as prospects and instead consider these players graduated.

Not opinion. well I think this and I think that and this is what I feel and that’s what I feel. Take opinion out of it. Go by what the NHL has set fourth as what constitutes a rookie. Even if some fans disagree. Too bad IMO. maybe I’ll make this poll idea I said in a prior message if no one else does it.

^ that’s exactly the list this board should draw from. Just add this years draftees. Someone make a top 10 list. Poll style. Then everyone gets one vote who they think the top prospect is. They also say who they think should be on the next list. The prospect with the most mentions gets added to the next (#2 prospect) poll. Fans can only draw from the list from Kris Baker (and the just drafted ones). it goes on and on until we reach #20 in prospect depth. So 20 separate polls. Each new poll created has a growing list of the “prospect/winner” of the prior poll.

So, there’s the NHL definition of a prospect. And then there’s the “this is my opinion of what a prospect is” definition. Ok then.... I guess that eliminates the chance for a group of fans to judge on the same level and rate our prospects from #1 to #20. It would be nice if there was a set in stone (no opinion) definition that everyone can base their rankings on. Oh wait, I think there is.

I also don’t think Cozens makes the team next season. One more year of developing for him before making the big club. Any line combo predictions shouldn’t include him. I hope JB grabs a 2nd line center.

You are right. On June 22nd, we don’t. However, I’m referring to Oct. 3rd. I guess that’s why I’m not really concerned now.

PK Subban. He’s got a boatload of talent. So, why is he moved after 3-4 years on a team? Cap hit? Big personality? Lockerroom/teammate issues? It’s odd...

This is where I’m at too. A new coach and 3-4 new players on the roster will HOPEFULLY pay dividends in the standings.
