  1. I think JB (rightfully so) is considering (key word) 10-12 guys currently on the roster to move. Not just Scandella, Risto, Miller, ERod, and Olofsson. Not to mention a lot of the Amerks and prospects in lower leagues. But if you don’t have a trading partner, you need to keep trying until something is fair. So I know some fans like to fantasize about JB sitting on his hands and not doing “anything”, but I’m comfortable knowing that’s not the case at all. I’m firmly in the boat of “make a fair trade when it’s there and makes the Sabres or Amerks better, and not do a trade that makes the Sabres/Amerks worse, just because fans want it”. Mentioned as in “his name is out there” no other context.
  2. Show me a team full of Barnaby’s, Rays, Mays, Kaletas, and Shoenfelds. And I’ll show you a team in 2019/20 that lose 95% of their games. But hey, at least we’ll see some fights every game! If the game was based on how many fights won, we would win the cup. Seriously, I get the desire for a “tougher” team. It’s character. Do we have enough character guys willing to battle and have each other’s back. But In today’s NHL, it must be a mix of not only character to battle hard and be a thorn to play against, but also talent to find the back of the net too. If fans just want a few meatheads to play 5-6 mins a night and go around looking for a check to deliver, that’s such a waste. And not today’s NHL. At all. JB and RK need to either find it on the roster, or infuse In one or two who have grit. Grit who score. Tom Wilson, Brady Tkachuk types. I hope Alplund develops into something In that vein.
  3. Is Cernak a repeat offender/has been suspended in the past? if no, he’ll get 3 games or less. if yes, he’ll get 3-5 games. or the DOPS can be typical and unsurprising and just fine him a couple thousand bucks.
  4. I see a lot of “living in the past” type comments. That’s not an insult. It’s something 2019 NHL and coaches just aren’t that way anymore. Maybe Tortarella. Maybe. Maybe Sullivan. Maybe. i would love the passion of younger Ruff or younger Shonny. But those types of ranting and raving super passionate borderline “intimidating” or “scary” type coaching or coaches, are getting rare, not increasing. granted, it would have been nice for RK to say something a little more passionate, yet not get fined or whatever. Agree to disagree on caring about the consequences of RK or any coach going off on the Refs or whatever.
  5. Easy. I don’t. I miss the passion, not the coaching.
  6. Meh. I’m upset with the loss, but I’m not ready to throw RK out after 7 weeks. I’ll leave that desire for the (IMO), knee jerk fans. Every fans different.
  7. Our broken toy ... take as much time as he needs and then some. Don’t come back too soon.
  8. Harrington was, is. and will always be the Matt Ellis of sports journalism. It’s amazing people still read his drivel.
  9. This team (and few if any NHL teams) isn’t built that way. Nor will it ever be.
  10. Sabres on the PP lately ...
  11. Dare I say it ... the criticism is ... obnoxious. There’s a clear difference between criticizing his current play. And making broad sweeping definitive statements on his overall ability or talent. Good grief...
  12. No thanks. I think I’d like to see how the JUST turned 21 year old develops over the next few years before I give up and want to trade him.
  13. Exactly! It will only be 4 goals... Geesh! ?
  14. Rinehart you beautiful B!
  15. Risto you stupid %#*&
  16. This afternoon, the Buffalo Sabresannounced that their team Skills Competition would return for a second season. The event will take place on Sunday, January 5 at KeyBank Center. Last year, the more than 10,000 fans were in attendance for the contest which featured special blue-and-gold uniforms, autograph signings from past players, and of course, the skills competition itself. This year, a new set of special jerseys will be worn by the players which will commemorate the 1978 NHL All-Star Game that was held in Buffalo. The contest will feature several events like the hardest shot competition, accuracy showdown, and shootout challenge, just to name a few. “The team had a great time at last year’s Skills Challenge, and we’re excited to face off against each other again this year,” Jack Eichel said, per the team’s official press release. “We’re all pretty competitive guys, so we’re looking forward to showing off our skills in front of some of the best fans in the league.”

  18. Yikes ..... double yikes ... What a bozo ...
  19. At a bare minimum I hope he doesn’t hurt his line… And it would be nice and promising if he came in and really impressed in his first game.
  20. I’m going to Wednesday’s game with the wife. She wants to arrive early ... now I know why lol.
  21. In fantasyland ... I would want hardcore punishments on headshots. 1st intentional head hit ... suspended without pay for three months. 2nd intentional head hit ... suspended without pay for 82 games. 3rd intentional head hit ... suspended without pay for three years. 4th intentional head hit ... expelled from the NHL as a player for life. ”intentional head hit” is judged by the commissioner, the head of DOPS, and all the GM’s (except the GM of the opposing player) get a vote. 2/3 vote is needed to to rule that it’s an intentional hit. After 5 years, As a player, if you are “clean” after you have an offense, then the one offense is “wiped off” your record. Any money “collected” from the players would be paid to a charity or players foundation. something along those lines, I think would curb a lot of head shots.
  22. Coming off a 5-2 win over the Florida Panthers last night, the Buffalo Sabres will close out their three-game road trip tonight. The Sabres take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena at 7 p.m. on MSG and WGR 550. Join us for the Buick Game Night pregame show at 6:30 on MSG. Here's what you need to know. With a win tonight, the Sabres would sweep a Florida road trip for the first time since earning wins against Tampa Bay and Florida on Nov. 10 and 12, 2015. It would be their first time doing so on consecutive nights since Jan. 29 and 30, 2008. This is the third of four meetings between the Sabres and Lightning this season. Last meeting: Tampa Bay defeated Buffalo 5-3 in Stockholm, Sweden on Nov. 9. Next meeting: Tuesday, Dec. 31 in Buffalo The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Lightning; 2-7-1 on the road. Victor Olofsson's goal and point totals currently have him on pace for the best offensive season by a Sabres rookie in decades. If he maintains his current pace, he would finish the season with the most goals by a Sabres rookie (29) since Donald Audette's 31 in 1991-92 and the most points by a Sabres rookie (61) since Ray Sheppard's 65 in 1987-88. With 14 goals in 23 games so far this season, Jack Eichel is already halfway to his previous best goal total (28), set in the 2018-19 season. Eichel's output through 23 games currently has him on pace to finish the season with 50 goals and 103 points, which would be the highest goal and point totals by a Sabre since Pat LaFontaine (53+95) and Alexander Mogilny (76+51) in 1992-93. Sam Reinhart has recorded 10 points (8+2) in his last nine games against the Lightning, including four two-point outings.
  23. Hmmm .... I wonder how true that really is. Sounds made up to me. I wonder if a second source can verify this. But I’m a very skeptical person when it comes to salacious stories that sound like they belong in a tabloid.
  24. I know this is nothing to those who only care about NHL hockey. For all the others who like the sport of hockey and appreciate it when GM’s make small trades too, this isn’t a bad move. It’s called depth. Every team needs it. Every team. And it never ends.
