  1. Celebrate the 50 th anniversary of the NHL awarding the City of Buffalo a franchise with us tonight when the Buffalo Sabres host the New Jersey Devils. Coverage on MSG will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the GMC Game Night pregame coverage. There will then be a pregame ceremony with the Knox Family, the Sabres' original owners, at center ice, followed by game coverage at 7 on MSG and WGR 550. Here's what you need to know. Be in you seats early for the pregame ceremony, but make sure you arrive at KeyBank Center before the ceremony for birthday-themed festivities to mark the occasion. There will be a pregame happy hour in the main Labatt Blue Zone bar with $5 beer specials, food sampling from various corporate partners, and live music. The main pavilion will be decorated for the celebration. Fans will have the opportunity to take a photo with a Sabres-themed 50th birthday cake and sign a giant Sabres birthday card in the 100-level concourse. We'll also be debuting a new episode of "Beyond Blue and Gold" that focuses on the Founding of the Franchise, so stay tuned for that. After winning the first meeting between the teams this season by a score of 7-2 on Oct. 5 in Buffalo, the Sabres are looking to clinch the season series against the Devils for the first time since 2013-14. A win would also give the Sabres wins in three straight home games against the Devils for the first time since they topped New Jersey in all four of their visits to Buffalo in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

  3. Ouch! Glad it’s not career ending.
  4. I wanna know who was the closest for last months prediction. That info would be nice to add to the OP.
  5. Best Defender. Born in 1981. 1st rounder.
  6. If he (and the team) earns it. He’ll be there. And it will be a sight for sore eyes.
  7. Yep. He was pretty solid. I didn’t care for Skinner tonight. I thought he could have buried one of his many many chances. I thought Scandella had a nice jump in his step. Asplund is getting more and more comfortable. Girgensons was slipping and tripping more than his usual 198 times a night.
  8. So that sounds like you expect him to be a “franchise goalie”. i don’t. I certainly hope he is. I just don’t expect it. Saves me from massive disappointment ?
  9. 3 on 3 OT has always will always suck
  10. Sheary did everything right. Great save.
  11. Would JB do Skinner and Asplund for Hall straight up. Assuming an extension was in place.
  12. Who is judging by a snapshot in time and who is judging in months or years being an NHLer?
  13. So are you basing your opinion on +/- and points? Nothing else?
  14. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/BUF/2014.html That roster. And they moved Vanek in October 2013 of that season. And Miller and Ott in February 2014 of that season. Leading up to the summer of 2014. Where Reinhart was picked. And they moved key guys and didn’t sign/acquire high end talent to finish the year well. In fact I remember being at games in December thru April of that season, and myself and fans around me were yelling to “lose for Reinhart” as they dropped the puck to begin the game. So full blown tank? No I guess not. But it was 99% of what a tank is. oh and in March 2013 they moved Leopold. In April of 2013 they moved Pominville and Regehr. In April 2013 Hecht “retired” from the NHL. In June 2013 they moved Sekera. Some players came back in those trades, but nothing “better” than was traded away. Tanking is not the inability to win games. It’s when management moves good talent out, for lower talent and draft picks. Hence the result then, is losing games and grabbing rock bottom on purpose. Weather some like to admit it or not, the Sabres did begin the tanking process in March of 2013, and by March of 2014, they decimated the talent. On purpose. Leading up to drafting Reinhart. Then of course we all remember (well I guess i shouldn’t assume that) the tanking for McEichel.
  15. Just think of the poor shmucks who refused to watch the game! ? I hated the four goals we gave up, but the Sabres came to play tonight. Great perseverance.
  16. The Sabres and the Leafs will face off today before heading to Toronto for the second half of a home-and-home series tomorrow night. It's the first home-and-home series between the teams since Nov. 15 and 16, 2013. Buffalo has not lost the home portion of a home-and-home series with Toronto since the first such series (a 4-2 loss on Dec. 20, 1970). The Sabres are 10-1-2 (two ties) all-time in the home portion of their 13 previous home-and-home series with the Maple Leafs and 2-10-1 in the road games. This is the first of four meetings between the Sabres and Maple Leafs this season. Last meeting: Toronto defeated Buffalo 4-2 in Buffalo on March 20. Next meeting: Saturday, Nov. 30 in Toronto The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Maple Leafs; 5-4-1 at home. The Sabres are 19-5-2 in their last 26 home games against the Maple Leafs. Toronto has not won four straight games in Buffalo since the Maple Leafs won each of their first six visits to Buffalo.
  17. Agree. I’ve always felt it’s rather sophomoric to compare the two leagues. It’s full of strawman arguments and attempted comparisons.
  18. A system to grow into with the 5 year old and have a huge selection of used games from a local GameStop so you aren’t blowing $50-$60 a game ... I’ve owned nothing but PlayStations. There are free game downloads as well on the PS network. I would recommend PS4. Look online as to the pluses and minuses of the Xbox vs. PS4. You’ll see what works for you and your family. Between the two systems, you can’t go wrong.
  19. Yea. The thought that he’s literally “doing nothing” in regards to him trying to better that Sabres, are either just exaggeration for effect, or just pure ignorance. I like to believe it’s just exaggeration. It takes two to tango. And while others may doubt, I don’t doubt that he’s talking to a handful of GMs about acquiring and/or getting rid of a few players. Hopefully some of the talks become more than just that.
  20. In the loosest sense ... everyone has a trade price. Even Dahlin. In the strictest sense, I think JB views his core as Dahlin, Eichel, Reinhart and Skinner. And everyone else besides those, he’s open to a discussion of trade value etc... If JB puts the right pieces around those four players and has solid goaltending, this team I believe will be winning more. I don’t think the weak link TODAY is coaching staff or the GM or even the owner. I want a stronger goaltending duo, and another dangerous top 6 forward with grit. Just starting there ... will do this team wonders I believe. Timely saves. A goaltender that can “steal” a handful of games a year. A gritty top 6 who’s grittiness will be contagious with a few already on the team. That, I think will do this team some good. Every team who doesn’t win the cup is a work in progress. Sorry but they just are. Sabres too. Who the heck ever expected this team to ever be a finished product? I know I didn’t. Hopefully JB can pull off a fair trade to address one or both of those issues. And no, I think another bottom 10 finish doesn’t get JB fired. Especially IF he’s made a couple good moves, but injuries prevent them from climbing out of the basement. BUT if he doesn’t make good moves AND the team finishes poorly, then I can see him getting let go. Injuries or not. JB is 100% safe for another few months ... at the very least. The JB haters know this. They hate the idea, but they know this.
  21. Meh. I’m pretty confident they know the fans aren’t happy. Most home games aren’t sellouts. I imagine the season ticket waiting list is very small. (It used to be over 2,000 on the list 5-6 years ago). I imagine the merch sales overall are lower compared to years ago. Eichel, Dahlin, and 50th anniversary jerseys are only part of the picture. I’m sure the market researchers and even the coach and GM and probably owners tune in to radio shows from time to time to hear the discontent from fans. Although a lot of callers are rather disconnected from reality and logic and just call to vent frustration. The overall sentiment is obvious. The request of some fan manifesto to be written is old news. Every fan base for every major sport in every city has wanted to do the same thing. It’s not unique. When the actual act of writing it and submitting it to news outlets is put on the shoulders of one fan, it always sputters out and goes nowhere. Just like this idea will. Part of the reason is because so many have a different way to write. Some want to be professional, respectful, yet get points across. Some want to be fire and brimstone and be quite rude, blunt and borderline mean spirited to get points across. And some just want to vent and cross the line and throw insults and expletives thinking that’s the only way to communicate their points. Again ... it won’t happen. So messages boards like this one are so popular for fans of every sport to discuss and vent. Just another part of the “sports entertainment” realm. Just my take ...
  22. And if I couldn’t care less about Twitter? I’ll just read what others post here ? and the oven mitt is nice but completely non functional ?
