Tonight at KeyBank Center, we're throwing it back to when the Sabres called Buffalo Memorial Auditorium home. It's Aud Night as Buffalo hosts the Nashville Predators. Faceoff is at 7 p.m. with pregame coverage on MSG starting at 6:30. For fans attending the game, they'll find a commemorative Aud Night T-shirt at their seat with the color representing one of the levels of The Aud. Nearly 20 alumni from the 1980s are in town as well. They'll meet fans in the 100 level and in the Seneca Sports Lounge before the game. Be in your seats by 6:55 as they'll be honored on the ice before a special video open plays. Before the game, the main Blue Zone Bar will host a happy hour with $5 Labatt drafts from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and live '80s music. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will also receive a special edition jersey koozie, courtesy of Labatt. All fans in attendance will find a T-shirt at their seat, and its color (red, blue, gold or orange) will correspond with a seating level of the Aud. The following alumni are scheduled to attend: Dave Andreychuk Adam Creighton Mike Foligno Mike Hartman Val James Uwe Krupp Kevin Maguire Phil Myre Wilf Paiement Brent Peterson Larry Playfair Daren Puppa Dave Schultz Dave Snuggerud John Tucker John Van Boxmeer The Sabres are 9-3-3 (.700) through their first 15 home games of the season, putting the team on pace to tie its ninth-best home record in a season. Buffalo has a plus-17 goal differential at home. Jack Eichel enters today's game on a career-best 14-game point streak that began on Nov. 16. He has 12 goals, 25 points and a plus-16 rating during the streak. Eichel's streak is the longest active point streak in the NHL and the second-longest streak in the league this season, one game shy of Patrick Kane's 15-game streak from Nov. 2 to 30 (11+13). The streak is the longest by a Sabre since Tim Connolly tallied points in 16 consecutive games from Dec. 23, 2009 to Jan. 25, 2010. Only four players in Sabres history have recorded a point streak of more than 14 games: Dave Andreychuk (2x), Tim Connolly, Rick Martin and Gilbert Perreault. Perreault holds Buffalo's franchise record with points in 18 consecutive games from Oct. 24 to Dec. 4, 1971 (10+21). -
But but but I thought the AHL doesn’t develop players. Or is it, the AHL isn’t a developmental league for the NHL. Or is it, it only counts if the player was drafted high (or is it low), but went to the AHL for “conditioning”. I’d hate to see Mitts go to Roch, but perhaps that is the right thing. He can safely go down without a waiver issue, right?

Aside from the Sabres memories ... As a kid and teenager ... Seeing Buffalo Stallions a few times. sitting in the oranges or standing room. walking the ramps. Going to an Ice show, and during the show, a sound baffle fell from the ceiling and landed on the ice. The skaters didn’t miss beat, grabbed it and skated around the ice for a couple moments with it like it was part of the act! Then pushed it into a corner out of the way and continued on. Every game, The guy at one of main entrances yelling “Peanuts, cracker jacks!”

Ok. I’m sure your joking but ... I wouldn’t want JB or anyone to die in a fire for a poor sports trade... breath ...

If anyone wants to do the homework ... what’s the average salary for 2nd line center currently playing? then add on another 15-20% because UFA’s almost always cost more to sign. my uneducated guess is $6-8 mil. for a solid 2nd line UFA center. Sabres are moving out salary in the summer. But will it be enough for a high priced 2nd line center UFA? Hmmmm

Hmmm ... and not everyone uses the same definition or weight when using a word. My vocabulary would go something like this ... Chris Drury was a great player. But not Elite. I watched him from the time he was in Colorado thru his time in Buffalo and NY. Jack Eichel is a great player on the cusp of elite. I need to see more (time and consistency, not necessarily more talent), before I throw elite or generational or whatever clarifying words fans like to throw around when describing players talents. Elite > Great > Very good > good > Ellis > gragnani > Delmore > Peters > Scott > Vinz ?

So, you say ... Sabres games have been on it a few times already. So ESPN+ doesn’t stream every Sabres game?
-
If we are going to add grit (or as some like to call it “toughness”), I want a guy who can contribute more than 5-7 goals a year and 100 pims. Good grief. Way more points, less pims. Reaves and Foligno would be a freakin joke. They would in short order become the fan favorite in Oct and Nov... followed by being the whipping boy/strongly disliked by Jan thru Apr.

So perhaps Thursday or Saturday

Ah ok. Yea. I have spectrum internet and cable. Looking to see the options after I drop the cable. Looks like Fubo is it for my situation.

I don’t think this way, but I see that a certain chunk of fans do ... so I’m asking, not out of snark, but only out of pure curiosity.... why does it matter so much to some fans, that a Sabre “gets respect” or “gets recognized” by the league or by other cities or other fans. For me, personally, I couldn’t care less about what the league recognizes. Let alone other fan bases or publications/sports journalists Etc.... Not saying you ... but some fans put so much stock in what others think.

Goaltending should be the first fix, but won’t be.

If no team picks him up, yes. Hutton is staying here. For at least 4 more months. -
Hey, thanks for replying! So, I looked at the whole Spectrum steaming thing. But when I looked at what stations were available, I didn’t see MSG or MSG-B. So I dismissed it. But from what you’re saying it IS available thru spectrum steaming. It’s just poor quality. furthermore, everything I’m seeing keeps pointing me to Fubo (thru Roku) as the only option (besides paying extra for NHL.tv or center ice). I don’t think YouTube TV is a viable option Due to blackout rules. I’m learning as I go.

.500 road trip. I like it.

All of them. How many will he “look good” in? 50-60% of them.

The Buffalo Sabres will look to close out their three-game road trip on a high note. They're in Edmonton tonight to play the Oilers at Rogers Place. It's an 8 p.m. ET faceoff with the Buick Game Night pregame show kicking things off on MSG at 7:30. Buffalo's next home game is Tuesday against St. Louis. That game will air on NBCSN. Here's what you need to know. This is the first of two meetings between the Sabres and Oilers this season. Last meeting: Edmonton defeated Buffalo 7-2 in Edmonton on Jan. 14 Next meeting: Thursday, Jan. 2 in Buffalo The Sabres are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Oilers; 6-4-0 on the road. Tonight's game is the third in a three-game road trip through Western Canada for the Sabres. Buffalo is 13-7-4 against the Pacific Division since the beginning of last season, including a 3-2-3 record in 2019-20. The Sabres are 26-40-11 all-time against the Oilers but are 11-6-1 against Edmonton since 2005-06 and 4-2-0 against them in the last three seasons.

What is your immediate action plan assuming NO trade?
Zamboni replied to nfreeman's topic in The Aud Club
If fans want to buy better goaltending this season, right away, then that takes away from the ability to sign higher end talent. I didn’t say prevent. so we trade for goalie XYZ who carries a cap hit of 6 mil. For the next 3 years after this season. Ok, well, we had to trade away significant talent to acquire him. now he’s our “starter for the next 3 years. Ullmark is the backup. Ok, so when UPL is knocking on the door, what do we do? Trade away Ullmark? What if Ullmark is a damn good backup? Trade away UPL? Trade away the 6 mil. starter we traded away significant talent for just a year or so ago? Instead of stomping feet and crossing arms and just yelling that you want a player, or coach or GM gone, how about you come up with a reasonable, logical well thought out plan that not only makes sense short term, but long term as well. Not accomplishing short term feel good decisions at the expense of long term success both financially and professionally. Some think in terms of sprints, when they should be focused on marathons. i look at the money for Price and Bobrovsky and I just laugh. Laugh and say no thank you to that team building concept. (Paying a ton to goaltending). -

I would want JB to think this way in order of most important... 1. 2nd line center 2. Gritty top 6 winger 3. Gritty bottom 6 guy try to move two of Scandella, Risto, Bogo. Then try to move two of ERod, Vesey, Miller. IMO, Goaltending will not be changed at all this season. Build around that duo. -
Well since the streaming threads were closed for some reason, I’ll ask it here ... a family member who lives in SC suggested if I cut the cord with spectrum (only keep internet), I should just get YouTube tv to watch the Sabres games. Being in WNY, is this true? Can I watch the MSG-B broadcasted games via YouTube tv? What about NBCSN Sabres games? i see that Fubo has MSG available, but is it MSG-B? And can I get MSG-B thru Fubo if I live in the WNY area? I just bought the latest Roku express. Haven’t hooked it up yet. Gonna do it around Christmas. Trying to learn as I go here ...
