WTF! No game day thread? The boys are in Filly tonight (12/19/19) at 7ET

As if it wasn’t already .... maybe this game will be a catalyst for JB to push even harder to get a deal done. Seeing how flaccid the Sabres are without one important player on the team. -

I just heard that! Did they say why? I didn’t catch that part -
And yet, like almost all the “on pace” discussions, he won’t get near 61pts. I can see him ending up with 42-47 points. Which would still be great!

Not to mention the ol pesky oral cancer thing ...

So, reading the comments, it looks like he’s pretty unmovable. Not impossible. But very hard to move that bloated contract with all things considered. Paying him 6 mil. to play on the bottom six, is Matt Moulson territory all over again. Ugh. I like KO, I really do. But that’s gonna be a hard pill to swallow for the next 3 years after this year. And I would hate to give away good prospects or a good roster guy just to rid ourselves of his contract. We’re stuck.

The Sabres are in Philadelphia tonight. They'll take on the Flyers at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Center. Pregame coverage on MSG will begin at 6:30. Eichel enters tonight's game on a career-best 17-game point streak that began on Nov. 16. The streak is the longest recorded by an NHL player this season. The streak is tied for the second-longest in franchise history and is the longest by a Sabre since Dave Andreychuk tallied points in 17 consecutive games from Oct. 18 to Nov. 14, 1992. Gilbert Perreault recorded an 18-game point streak in 1971-72. And after scoring in each of Buffalo's last four games, Eichel is currently on the longest goal streak of his career. Eichel has totaled 11 points (8+3) in his 11 career games against Philadelphia, including at least a point in each of the last five meetings (5+2). This is the first of three meetings between the Sabres and Flyers this season. Last meeting: Philadelphia defeated Buffalo 5-2 in Philadelphia on Feb. 26. Next meeting: Saturday, March 7 in Philadelphia The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Flyers; 2-7-1 on the road. Ray v. Domi' to re-air tonight "Beyond Blue and Gold: Ray v. Domi" will air again during tonight's broadcast on MSG. The two-part documentary sees former enforcers Rob Ray and Tie Domi sit down with Sabres alumnus Andrew Peters to watch all 13 of their NHL fights against each other. -

Sabres bounce back 4-2 Skinner, Johansson, or Reinhart with a goal. Eichel gets an assist to extend the points streak. -
So because we don’t hear anything coming out of JB’s camp, he’s doing nothing? That’s rich. I would safely assume almost every, if not every GM in the league is making and receiving offers of all shapes and sizes for not only their NHL teams, but also their farm teams. It takes two GMs (who don’t want to be fleeced) to make a deal.

Last night a half assed convo happened in the GDT about if Kyle Okposo has any trade value and what it would be. https://www.capfriendly.com/players/kyle-okposo 1. Kyle is signed for three more years AFTER this season at a cap hit of 6 mil per. 2. Kyle has had four concussions in under three years. And that's just with the Sabres. 3. Kyle will be 32 in April, so his current contract takes him to 35. 4. Between age and injuries, he has obviously lost a signifiant step in his speed and production. 5. Kyle has a Modified NTC, which makes it tougher to move. Trade debates ... Is he 100% unmovable when considering all factors? Is he almost unmovable? Is his salary moveable IF the Sabres add draft picks and/or prospects? Is he moveable if the Sabres retain a portion of his salary? Can the Sabres afford to retain a portion of his salary? Can the Sabres realistically waive him in hopes a team would pick him and his salary up? Is there really any way to shed him and his salary? My thoughts are, he has an almost unmovable contract due to his age, injury history, current production, and his bloated contract.

Skinner is a streaky scorer, hockey fans who follow the league (not just Sabres) knew this when he played for Carolina. It was also known when he signed his big contract with the Sabres. It’s pronounced more lately because he doesn’t have a high quality pivot on his line. You get a better 2nd line center, and he’ll warm back up again.
-
Mojo didn’t have it there ...
-
He said. Listen Kyle, you can’t play your way off the team. You are stuck here. You know it. I know it. Just go out there and score for us! ?
-
I wasn’t. Let’s move on eh?
-
Exactly. Like 3-4 years at a minimum.
-
Good. Agree I won’t argue with one either.
-
No. A team won’t. Again ... not with his cap hit, and Injury history. They can get younger. Better, healthier players. And often do. He would be a black hole in the playoffs anyway.
-
Yep. It’s often overlooked by the Reinhart haters. Or even the Reinhart “Luke warm” fans.
-
As I said ... ignoring the pucks comment ... And you didn’t at all address the concerns of any team to take on KO. Nice ...
-
Ok I’ll bite and debate ... they don’t trade pucks. Change my mind ...
-
Skinner is here to stay. Full stop. Get him a very good 2nd line center or get him with Jack, and he’ll flourish.
-
Ignoring the pucks comment. Eating half his salary on a cap strapped team, and try to get as good a player back. Good luck with that. I agree he’s a shadow of his former self. I just don’t think most fans who want him off the team, truly think it through, and consider all the logical facts regarding his age, injury history, and salary/cap hit. He’s almost unmovable. Unfortunately.

Kyle Okposo has an almost unmovable contract.
