I wouldn’t quit my job unless I had another job lined up. I wouldn’t merge into traffic unless I knew I could safely do it. I wouldn’t have non emergent surgery until I got a second opinion that agreed with the first opinion. I wouldn’t fire my hockey GM unless at the very least, I had a list of 3-5 candidates I felt could do a better job and wanted to interview. To the chagrin of a few fans, JB has his job 100% secure until at the very least April, and most likely into next season. Unless unless unless, he makes zero (nada, zilch, no) roster moves before April. Then I could see a case for him potentially (key word) getting sacked for doing nothing for an entire season. Of course fans are allowed to complain about the GM, coaches and players. But just like a roster, if you want someone traded or fired, you must think about who you want coming in to replace him. Saying “I don’t know” or “fire fire fire” solves nothing and adds nothing to a meaningful discussion about the logical direction of a teams staff (players, coaches, GM). My personal opinion is, I’d like to see JB stay with the team for the rest of this season, AND the next season. UNLESS he does absolutely nothing or next to nothing in regards to improving the NHL roster of the Sabres.

Again, it’s not at all about whether he’s “failing”. It’s about if you want him fired, fine. Want him fired... Cool. Who would you like in his place that has a good chance to do better? Dont get me wrong, that’s not saying he’s the end all be all GM. I just think if he gets fired, a logical legitimate some semblance of a thought should be proposed as to what comes after said firing. Who gets hired? And not just spewing “fire fire fire” like a bevis and butthead cartoon. Have a plan for godsake. I don’t view that as a crazy off the wall way to think. Firing without a list of potential replacements, is. It just rings hollow. Shortsighted.
-
Of course you’re not obligated. And I’m not obligated to take the requests for JB getting fired seriously since it hasn’t been thought through past the “but but but I just want him fired” phase. And no, he certainly isn’t Irreplaceable. It just rings hollow. Yelling at clouds.

Ok you are obviously entitled to your opinion. my take ... For what Erhoff did prior to becoming a Sabre, his contract was understandable. He was at the time of the trade, one of the if not, THE top guy to grab. And for a 4th round pick.. He was a solid point producing Dman for a few years leading up to the Sabres acquiring him. Contract at the time was not terrible.

Huh? not talking hockey presidents. I specifically said JB. I know that posters on here and other forums are not “casual average” hockey fans. I give posters on most forums, more credit than that. And yes, most posters should know an answer to the potential replacements for JB, IF they want him fired right now, today. Spewing hatred for the man (firing) without listing his replacement is a rather weak argument that holds no water. At all. It’s just spouting to spout without a logical well thought out answer. It just rings hollow. List his replacement!
-
Probably shoulder ... Hey, maybe this will light a fire under JB a little more to replace a top six winger. But now it’s a position of weakness and he may not get fair value/worth for what he may get.

Not even close. Ville Leino was much worse.

Now make up the D and goalies. Now ... Does that team realistically fit under the cap?

Exactly. no need for the dramatics and made up stories of being torn away from his poor family and forced to spend Christmas In a hotel room watching The Christmas Story on repeat all day while eating stale Christmas cookies out of a box and crying into the box of rough tissues from the bathroom while his kids and wife FaceTime him showing him play by play of all the presents they got. (the preceding was a dramatic reenactment for effect and not based in any true reality whatsoever)
-
Oh I’m certainly not getting my hopes up other than hoping he starts playing better in the AHL. Small expectations.
-
So some fans want to fire JB now. Like right this very moment ... Instead of spewing your wishes of just half of the move, complete your thought of who exactly will replace him. I bet half the “fire JB” crowd all of a sudden, fall silent and don’t have a logical answer. And a strawman answer like ... “replace JB with anyone” is a weak one IMO. So what does that say?

Good to hear/read reports that Mitts was much better this game. Instead of things like “he’s awful”.
-
Yep. That’s what it looked like

Ugly hockey right now. For both teams.

Had Almond Milk Eggnog instead of the regular dairy based type. Pretty good!

Nice PK!!!

I always wonder if a team does well. Until Ray tells me the team did a good job after most periods. Now .... I’m lost without him ?

The Buffalo Sabres are back from the holiday break and will play the Boston Bruins tonight. The GMC Game Night pregame show begins at 6:30 p.m. on MSG. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on MSG and WGR 550. This is the second of four meetings between the Sabres and Bruins this season. Last meeting: Boston defeated Buffalo 3-2 in Boston on Nov. 21 Next meeting: Sunday, Dec. 29 in Boston The Sabres are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Bruins; 1-6-3 at home. The road team has won six of the nine games between these teams in the last two seasons.

I’m usually optimistic. But I can’t with this game. The gang had too much eggnog and cookies. 5-2 Bruins. Johansson, Vesey, or Joker with a goal.

I just saved this post for future reference. We’ll see what this just turned 21 developing professional hockey player does in the coming years of his development. Because saying his game “won’t translate well” sounds to me like you don’t expect him to have a career in the NHL, OR you expect him to plateau and be a bottom player/#13 depth guy. My expectations are of a solid middle Six guy in the NHL. It just may take him years to get there.

Dead Team Walking - Are the Sabres Even Fixable?
Zamboni replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Experienced 2nd line center. Don’t count on Dylan “green horn” Cozens next season to be some answer. Kid will need 2-3 years at least before he’s a (assuming everything goes perfectly, and rarely does) legit option at 2nd line center. I hope he develops well. Grit on the bottom six. Not some meat head fighter. Although those are really a thing of the past anyway... Keep the Ullmark, Hutton combo for now with the hopes that UPL develops well and comes in for the 21-22 season to backup Ullmark. If Ullmark regresses, then rethink the duo. -
Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch

Binging on Master of None. I’m six episodes in. I think it’s pretty good. I want to like it more. Solid 6.5 out of 10. It’s missing something... -
From July 2019 ... July 2019 – Mattias Samuelsson is coming off of his first season in the NCAA. In 35 games played for Western Michigan University, he tallied 5 goals, 7 assists and 37 PIM. Samuelsson has worked on discipline as he took far fewer penalties last season than he did in his 2017-18 campaign with the USNTDP, but he still has work to do. Aside from discipline concerns, he is showing improvement in his overall game. Samuelsson has good positioning, solid physicality and decent hands. Even though he tends to be more of defensive defensemen, he will get involved in the offensive zone and will pick up the puck and attempt to spark scoring chances. The only issue with Samuelsson is his skating. When you watch the World Junior Summer Showcase game tape, you will see how sluggish and slow Samuelsson is at times. In addition, he does not utilize his outside and inside edges. Samuelsson needs to beef up his edge-work and work on his turns. While he does have some work to do skating-wise, his transitioning from forwards to backwards is quite solid. Josh Tessler Like his father, Mattias is a big defenseman (6’4”/220) who does not shy away from laying his body into opponents. After getting into the US National Team Development Program, he added around 22 pounds to his body. “When I arrived, I was just skin and bones” he said to NHL.com in November 2017. Aside from his big frame, Samuelsson has developed his game with the puck and improved his skating, given his size. The left-handed blueliner is mostly praised for his ability in the defensive zone, but is getting more and more involved in the offensive side of the game, picking up twelve points (including five goals), during his first year with Western Michigan University which ranked him third-best among the team’s defensemen. After serving as captain for the United States at the U18 WJC in 2018 (where his team ended up with a silver medal), just like in last years WJC, Samuelsson will get another big role in the upcoming season as he is slated to get a ‘C’ sewn onto his jersey at Western Michigan. Given his continued development in the NCAA, where he made strides in his game overall last season, he looks like a potential top-four defensive defenseman, just like his father. Like all prospects, he’s a work in progress. No big deal. Some try so hard to Dig up any “negative” or “concerning” sentences when it comes to developing young prospects Any perceived weaknesses are absolutely nothing to worry about at this early stage of his hockey career. It would be great if he developed into a combo of his dad and Risto.
