Yea I understand all that. And he makes an intriguing case for himself. I have my views on the man. I hope he improves. I just have this nagging feeling that if he had the lions share (55-60 games) of an 82 game season, he wouldn’t improve. He would get worse. But like so many things on a team sport, a lot of factors go into him being meh, good, or great. Just my O.

I don’t think Ullmark today, right now, is #1 status on almost every NHL team. He’s a very capable #2 on a deeper team. I’d want a goalie of better talent/ability to be considered the #1. Ullmark isn’t that. However if we had a better coached team and a couple Dman upgrades, Ullmark all of a sudden could look much better in net. But, that’s a big IF and wishful thinking.

No, I was basically looking to see if anybody knew if it’s completely true, these allegations… Or if these are just rumors and then those rumors are what is causing the strong opinions on what they feel is fact. I wasn’t sure if some thing solid and unequivocal came out at some point. Or just fans throwing 💩 up against the wall to see if it sticks.

There is a difference between stone cold irrefutable truth, and speculation, rumor, and hypothetical scenarios. Which one is the Bills/Terry/Beene “stay away” story? Which one is the Sabres/Terry/Rutherford “stay away” story?

That’s what I was saying/getting at like 3-4 weeks ago. The ol’ “yell and kick the garbage can over, and get in a players face” type of coach is no longer. At least not in the NHL. Some fans want to cling to the fantasy of a coach coming in and “kicking ass and taking names”. I clearly remember a few coaches like that in the 70’s, 80’s, and even the early to mid 90’s. But ... Nope. Gone. Cling, clutch, wish, and fantasize all ya want. This and that. Nope. Gone.

Some fans STILL think GM’s are supposed to take jabs at players who get traded away. Why is dis an expectation? It’s certainly a rare rare rare occurrence if you can even find one or two GM’s in a professional sport who have done it. I think tomorrow I’m gonna be mad at the CEO of Apple for not crossing the Atlantic on a sailboat to deliver the latest update of the iPhone to the queen of England. oh and I’m sure it makes no difference dat Adams and Staal were “friendly acquaintances” even before he was a Sabre.

It’s a team effort 100% of the time. Without the team surrounding an individual doing well, a player with high skill (let alone generational talent) can’t lead a team to enough victories for it to matter. You disparage one player for not leading, you include them all in that insult or none of them. I have always hated Staal. He can go to H E double hockey sticks. Trade his ass ASAP for all I care.
