I don’t think Kruger would’ve had more say over KA as to what the roster is going to be. this is all a moot point really 😂

That is, IF the GM even wanted to pursue Hall. And Hall would not have been a Buffalo Sabre, unless KA agreed and pursued it. If Krueger wanted Hall, but for some reason KA disagreed… He wouldn’t have been here. Krueger may have had influence… But he didn’t have the ultimate say over KA. I can’t believe he had that much power.

And if Hall scored 30 goals this past season… He would not be among your list of “negative things“ KA has done. so don’t you think that maybe… Just maybe you’re blaming KA for Halls lack of production? And does it need to be reminded yet again… That Hall was the biggest… Yes the biggest UFA on the market when KA landed him. and sure you can be pessimistic and say well Hall only came the Buffalo because of Kruger. That very well may be true… Nevertheless KA is the GM… He is the one that targeted and landed him. He gets credit for that. Hall gets credit for being practically useless all season long. There was a big gaping hole at 2C. And even though I hate Staal with a passion, it was a reasonable, logical acquisition to get Staal to fill that hole. Could he have done better? Possibly. He also could’ve done a hell of a lot worse. The other points you made… I completely agree with. Especially the goaltending. KA dropped the ball to improve there.

I would do that as long as they added the enthusiasm of David Puddy.

He’s no longer “healthy”. He’s from now on a player with a few injuries and one pretty serious that may require surgery at some point in the not too distant future. And that surgery could make Jack the player he was before the injury. Or …. Not even close. Massive risk at that price tag. Massive. Did I say massive? Can only hope some GM doesn’t view it as a massive risk and offers an impressive package for Eichel.

I AGREE with that assessment. I just think EVERY GM won’t see it EXACTLY that way. One or two MAY think differently and throw a boatload at him to land him. We’ll see soon enough.

Until he signs for lower … I think a GM will be “star struck” to a degree and throw around 6 mil. per at him and see if he bites. In hopes that the Hall from a few years ago shows back up.

Very interesting that the OP hasn’t changed the title yet. I have a couple thoughts as to why … See how this plays out …

So, he had a nice year. Not mind blowing, but much better then anyone thought he’d have I would think … Did he EARN a multi-year deal? I’d commit to a 3 to 5 year deal on him. In the neighborhood of 2.5 to 3.5 mil. per. That way if he completely regresses it wouldn’t be another albatross of a contract.

He’s no longer a Sabre. Unless he signs on for more crazy train action. Sabres moving on to better things I hope…

Some GM on some team will still throw 6+ million dollars at Hall in hopes that he “finds himself” again and it’s a absolute steal. They will most likely be highly disappointed …

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Even in the 1st round … it’s not a given how much a player will develop and contribute on an NHL team. We have all seen the top three picks bust, or become AHL/NHL filler, or become ok 4th liners, or become superstar 1st liners and allllll that in between. So this year is no different. Rinse repeat… I try to expect the unexpected when it comes to 18 year old kids getting drafted.
