I've mentioned this previously as its quite typical and, frankly, drives me nuts. Why can't, prior to releasing a presser video, questions asked be added via closed caption? (Or a synopsis of the question if Paul Hamilton is the one asking).

Annual expectations thread 2022/23: #53 Jeff Skinner

Outstanding movie. Should be the rally cry of the Sabres' season .... 'You tell 'em I'm comin'. And hell is coming with me!'. -
PSA: The start time for Monday night's game is 7:15PM. Not the usual MNF start time. Plan accordingly.

Me neither. 😎

Agreed. Plus, didn't he play a *****-ton of hockey last season? No need to shorten this offseason for him, even if only for a week or so.

Heard a funny line this morning. "If Tom Brady and Derrick Henry were able to have a baby together, it would be Josh Allen".

Years ago when I lived in NJ I had the opportunity to go to Flushing Meadows to see some earlier matches of the US Open. They were still playing on some of the side courts so I was able to get an up close view. I recall being absolutely blown away by the speed and movement (especially) that the players can generate on a tennis ball. And these weren't even the the Top 10 or 20 players. Seeing it on television does not do it justice at all in that regard.

Been hearing and reading a lot lately about Josh Allen's progression as a quarterback. QB's get better with games played. They see more, experience more, learn more. Confusion evaporates over time. Nothing groundbreaking there. But what gets me really excited about watching JA in the years to come? I'll leave you with this: Career Games Played to Date Tom Brady - 302 Aaron Rodgers - 197 Josh Allen - 62

Regarding @Taro T's question in the old thread about Sam Martin's punting stats in altitude. There was some data posted over at TSW saying the difference was about 0.5 yards per punt. Doesn't seem to be a significant difference especially when influenced by the number of times a punter is trying for the 'inside the 20' kick. Regardless, given the number of times he will be punting its likely not an appreciable difference in total yards over the course of the season. In fact, I have it on good authority that he will have his own seat on the sidelines this year.

I've read that three times now trying to understand, thinking I'm missing something obvious. WTF does that parenthetic question even mean? What's its purpose? Remove it and Graham is reporting the Bills have reached out to Kern. Have they, or not? TG is a complete tool IMO. (And not just for this).

Congratulations to yous two (hat tip to NS) party animals! 😁

What immediately strikes me about that video clip was how strong and clear RJ's voice was back then.

@ddarylthis is such an effective and productive way to turn current assets into future income because of the compounding effect of reinvestment plus rising dividend payouts. The bolded is why its not utilized more, unfortunately. Focus on the income - as you well know and do. For anyone who might be interested, here is an example. In 2013 you purchased 100 shares of Abbvie (ABBV) at $52. It was paying a quarterly dividend totaling $1.60 per year (~3% dividend yield). In this the 10th year you would now own, through reinvestment, ~130 shares that will pay a $5.64 per share dividend. The key thing is the annual distribution rate on the original investment. $733 income on a $5200 .... or ~14%. And likely to continue rising.

No worries NS. All good. I'm sure in your profession you must see via your clients' 1099s a lot of questionable, if not unscrupulous, investment activity. Sadly.

No need. This was peripherally a hockey related thread to begin with. Didn't intend to take it further off the rails. And won't continue to. Let's get back to hockey.

@Sabres Fan in NS This is an erroneous broad based criticism. Every single one of my 190 clients would vehemently disagree with you. (I just 'outed' myself).
-
@Eleven , I assume you are an attorney - either a sole practitioner or part of a firm. You are the one who interacts with the clients but there are other people that clients rarely, if ever, see that perform other necessary activities in support your firm's operation. In advisory firm parlance, those other people are 'back office support'. There's a lot that goes on there particularly with respect to custody, trading, regulatory and compliant matters among many others. The numbers are interesting. If the stated goal is $40B in assets and the advisory firms charge 1% (to make numbers round) then by Bison Wealth charging the advisory firms 10% for back office support (again for simplicity) its revenue will be $40M annually. If it's cost to provide that support is $20 - 30M that's a healthy margin. I'm not sure what competitive advantage Bison Wealth can provide over existing firms in that business. They feel like they've figured it out, obviously.

Who would you 'pay early' or 'overpay' before they proved/earned it?

@msw2112 I agree with the general premise of this post. I do wonder about the bolded however. How much influence do past championships have on the present psyche of fans? (We can only speculate, unfortunately). Do they look at their teams and say 'Yeah, we really suck. But we won a cup back when I was 6 years old so its OK'? Would love to have that conversation with Blackhawk fans, Canadiens fans, etc, etc. -
Rainbow, Whirlpool and LQ bridges circa 1975. 40 cents for car and driver, 10 cents for each additional passenger. I guess that got changed when people were getting stuck in the trunks of cars trying to save a dime. 🤑
-
Absolutely. Read the article over breakfast this morning. That boy is wired for greatness.

Re: Tage Thompson. The comps (age, position, 'breakout season', '21-22 production) to Josh Norris in Ottawa are very similar. Norris just got 8x$7.95M. -
I'm going to that one barring something unforeseen coming up. I want to see Levi play live. Only a half hour drive for me. The Hangar for some wings and beers.
