  1. On the telecast of the last Sabres-Oilers game Rob Ray was talking about Kris Knoblach and how he’d turned around the Oilers from that dreadful start. ‘Tough. Demanding. Disciplined. Respected.’ Ray went on for about 30 seconds but stopped just short of saying what I and everyone other Sabres fan was thinking. This is what the Sabres desperately need. I wish I could find a replay of the telecast and listen to it again. He should win the Jack Adams Award.
  2. And I would have to assume that would include Lindy having a long sit down with Skinner in making that determination.
  3. I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw this about the '24 trade deadline. At the 6:20 mark (approx) KA is on the phone telling Dahlin about the Okposo trade. Perhaps Ras wasn't the only player KA called. But watch and listen to the ensuing 40 seconds. It sure seems to me Dahlin will be the next captain of the Sabres. Any one else catch the same vibe or am I seeing something that isn't there?
  4. And what is your rationale for claiming Okposo was a fraud? Wins (or lack thereof)? You're going to lay that on him? Has he ever said anything publicly to give you the impression he was a fraud? Do you have some information about his interactions in the locker room? At practices?
  5. Agree. It's been McBeane's MO since they got to Buffalo. Create as much competition as possible and see who rises to the top. Mostly true when there has been no clear-cut starter at a position. There's nothing that's making it difficult to cut any of these recent WR signings before camp ends.
  6. I tend to look at this issue in two question form. 1. Since the tank commenced, who have been the good captains on this team? 2. What other captains in the league, because of their leadership qualities, would have made a difference in the Sabres season? (Exclude the 80-120 point producing C's because that certainly would have made a difference). If the answer to those questions is no one then the problem is NOT the guy wearing the C.
  7. So this makes Gulati eminently qualified to also pen the upcoming book entitled 'Terry Pegula and the Buffalo Sabres'.
  8. I was circling back to KA's comment about talking to 'double digit' HC candidates at Lindy's presser. Seemed like lots of activity and due diligence in a short period time. I can see now why probably 9 of those 'interviews' collectively took a grand total of 45 minutes to accomplish.
  9. COVID crowds at the KBC
  10. After watching the ROC game last night (admittedly a small sample size) if anyone other than Johnson and Levi are on the Sabres next year the team is in for a long season. No one else looks ready to make the jump. The Amerks should be fun to watch though.
  11. Picking nits here but should he be including Olofsson as a Sabre?
  12. Might have to make that the ringtone on my cell phone just for the laughs.
  13. That's awesome PA! Must have been a blast. I remember excitedly waiting for that to show up in the mail. And my wife knowing not to bother me for a while after it did.
  14. Yes indeed! Forgot about those guys.
  15. If the Sabres can't get a suitable vet for #11, does it make sense to move it plus a good prospect in order to move up to get Lindstrom - who is very different than all of our current top prospects?
  16. And his manager Abdulla Faroof (I think that was his name?). I was partial to Domenic DiNucci (being an Italian kid). Thanks Punch .... now I feel really old. 😄
  17. One of my favorite vids every year. 'Embedded' in the Bills' draft room. I would love to be allowed to sit in a chair in the back of the room and just observe. https://www.buffalobills.com/video/exclusive-inside-look-at-the-buffalo-bills-2024-nfl-draft-buffalo-bills-embedded I was really impressed with the maturity of that DT from Duke picked in the 3rd round. Seems about 10 or 12 years older than Coleman.
  18. Lots of current (me included) and soon-to-be sexagenarians around here. That's such an odd - and sometimes horribly contradictory - term.
  19. For those who can’t watch … Bandits were down 8-4 in the 4th. Now leading 10-8. Crowd is insane! Did not. Great to hear tho. Can’t wait to get Sabres crowds like this.
  20. Nice to watch a TO-Buffalo game in KBC with the lower bowl full of Buffalo fans.
  21. I think most people, ‘rich’ or otherwise, avoid paying taxes to the extent they are lawfully able. And our tax code and laws, as they exist in present form, are badly broken.
  22. There are certainly ways to transfer assets with varying tax ramifications. The tricky part is developing a strategy that still complies with NFL and NHL ownership rules (in this case). Regarding the Bills sale, I don’t know for certain, but all signs point to the Bills having been placed in a charitable remainder trust years prior. (Different entity than the estate). Negated the capital gains tax upon the sale of the team making those dollars available to the recipient charity (mostly, if not all, the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation). TMI?
