  1. Good-bye Polty. We hardly knew ya.
  2. Worth a shot for a few games. You know Ruff will keep tweaking. There is a few things going on here. Krebs will get ~16 to 18 minutes at 3C. He gets another look, similar to last year at the time of the Mitts trade.
  3. Way back there was the McNab - Savard trade. We traded Taylor Hall to Boston more recently.
  4. I prefer a more grizzled and veteran top 6 guy, someone who has won in the league. We have good young guys already. We need more than that.
  5. I have to agree with this. I hope he keeps it up and stays involved at this level.
  6. I played in the Outer Banks last year.
  7. Heck with the politics. I seem to have lost my putting game this fall. Another inconsistent afternoon on the greens. I need a break from golf, but I will torture myself until the snow flies, then I'll go to places with no snow and torture myself some more. But I will get steps in.
  8. Quinn is most likely to get benched when Benson comes back, unless he snaps out of it before that time. Not a long term benching, you don't want to break him, you do it to teach him. Sit a few, and then let him play and see from there.
  9. He will rotate games with the rest of the bottom 4, and he will fill in other spots as needed. He may also be a piece that Adams is willing to package in a trade.
  10. Because he does this all the time - see Samuelsson, Cozens, and Power.
  11. Some good Points Taro, darn good for a guy drafted 187th overall back in 1974. I guess I lean towards @Brawndo's plan then. Reimer holds the fort in limited games while UPL gets going. Ruff said that UPL was going to be a big part of this team and Adams showed him the money, therefore they have to give him the bulk of the work in the early part of the season. That is the time to get Levi sharp in Rochester, down the road you bring up a ready and hungry Levi to bolster the team when the schedule gets more demanding. Of course the trick is Reimer has to contribute when he gets his games - that was the risk. I certainly didn't see enough preseason or practices to tell how far apart Reimer and Levi were. It is all a moot point. We are where we are. At least we have two good candidates in goal. There are several teams that would love to have our goalies. Goaltending will not be our biggest problem this season but right now we need one of them to start carrying the team more, hence the creation of this thread.
  12. Yes, its a catch 22. You see the need for a trade to improve the top 6. You see we have prospects, picks, and cap space. Then you realize that its Kevyn Adams at the helm. Maybe he can hit on one? https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/buffalo-sabres/latest-news/sabres-actively-looking-to-make-trade-addition-kevyn-adams
  13. Krebsie is your boy. Get Benson back and the 3rd line should get a boost.
  14. I give you one point for the use of the word "bedraggled". It fits my golf game the last two times out. I am heading out soon to un-bedraggle it.
  15. Good moves. When Benson gets back he will very likely push Quinn into the press box unless Quinn gets it going right away. I will go back to my preseason concern - that center spline is not much at all. Thankfully Tage is playing well and McLoed has been good.
  16. It has always looked to me that Adams wants Levi to be his #1 - as if he has to show something for his decision not to extend Reinhart, and then eventually trade him. Levi was not adequately challenged for the backup role. He is better than Reimer, but is playing 3 out of 10 games good for him right now? At the same time UPL will not get to last years level without being worked hard for awhile.
  17. And it’s covered in the media much more than ever. The rate of suicide and mental illness seems so much higher now than ever before. I wonder if it really is, but it sure seems to be? Sad story.
  18. Boo hoo for Levi. Your wording “ we don’t care that you worked hard and did well, you are trapped in Rochester” is not reality. No one would say that. No decent young player would think that either. This isn’t Bantam youth hockey. This is where they lack the right leadership in the FO, they don’t challenge anybody to get better. There is more coddling of the top prospects right now than at any time in Sabres history. In your scenario - If Levi wins the job in camp then you move on from the vet goalie. It’s not hard. Teams needed goalies to start the season. Having one is useful, not bad. That is why Reimer got picked up. All I’m saying is Reimer was not a legitimate challenge to keep Levi in Rochester for part of a season where he could play more and improve. He was insurance for a training camp injury at best. This conversation is taking a turn away from the point. Levi has to play to get better. UPL has to play to get back to form. That is the issue at hand. Since UPL is slightly more NHL proven, and he is getting paid, he gets the majority of the games. Levi has to stay ready as a backup, which is a challenge , but his opportunity will come.
  19. Of course Levi is better than Reimer. Adam’s picked up a goalie from the bargain bin once again, as usual. And as you said, he did it despite the FACT they need to make the playoffs. Hard to say how Reimer would have done in those 3 games, 0-3 is highly probable. They didn’t give Levi a very high challenge bar to make the team. Now he is sitting on the bench, and destined to sit awhile longer too. Adam’s creates situations where he is forced to hand out NHL jobs and fat contracts to his players before they are ready. Happens all the time.
  20. I think a lot of Diggs coolness is a nice little act. The reality is that he was a me first player, he did it in Minnesota and in Buffalo. Very talented, but now fading away as a #1 receiver. His best football is behind him but he could be an excellent #2 if his head allows it. I am happy to see him gone, and I really like the big potential of Coleman and the calm veteran professionalism of Cooper.
  21. UPL still needs more games to get going. He started to look better, until Florida on Monday where he was inconsistent again. He should continue to get the majority of the games and hopefully he gets back on track. Levi should be in Rochester playing a lot. They chose to waive Reimer, so now Levi needs to be patient and stay ready for his opportunities. Not an ideal situation. I think this could be a good tandem someday. Still being patient.
  22. Since I previously stated I think he has to make moves to upgrade the top 6. So yes, I want him to make a great trade.
  23. I have a date with the Mrs on that night. Gonna have to catch it after the fact.
