It would very Sabresy to see Quinn stay hot and get 20 goals this year, have Adams pencil him in in the top 6 again, and then see him struggle once the games actually matter. It is almost guaranteed to happen.

My hockey experience is that the perennial losers in any decade are losers because they have the worst roster, dig deeper and it points to the ownership. Losing all the time means no media coverage. The Sabres have Dahlin and Thompson, both get respect around the league but they play on a losing team so it only goes so far. The Sabres biggest news every year usually involves the poor hockey deals they make, the static nature of their FO, and the woeful product that the fans have to endure. My hockey friends around the country always ask "why doesn't Pegula just do with the Sabres what he did with the Bills?" If only it was that simple.

I missed the Washington game. I missed it on purpose. Just needed a break. Good to see they are scoring goals for now. Tuch continues to be a very solid forward and reaches 30+ goals again. Would like to see Tage get 40 and Zucker get 20. We scored 8 goals in a game were Dahlin had 0 points? Hmmm

The BN has a story implying that UPL could overcome the numerous errors the Sabres made, especially once they tied it up and took a lead. I missed the second period but the Sabres looked bad in the game re-cap (highlights). UPL is not making nearly enough big saves, no doubt about it. His positioning is poor, rebound control bad, his confidence looks shot. But the entire team defense is terrible too. One game without Dahlin and you see the weaknesses in Bryson, Samuelsson, and Byram. Let’s not leave out the forwards who are slow getting back and who constantly lose puck battles. They can’t trade and fire all the players, but it’s far past the time to look at the coaches and the guy that built this roster.

Right. They just signed him to a 5 year contract.

That’s when we moved into a playoff spot too. After that was the Dahlin injury and the 13 games of hell.

I left right after the first and came back for the start of the 3rd. What I see is the Sabres embarrassing themselves again.

There really was no effort today from the very start. Too many passengers and the ones that should be the leaders aren’t stepping up today. No Dahlin means 25 more minutes for the remaining bad defenseman, not that the forwards are off the hook either, this is a team no-effort.

I’m sick of hearing about Bob “Hound Dog” Kelly. Cheap shop artist that he was. Ugh.

Team defense is lousy today. The wingers constantly lose puck battles and other than McLeod, the centers play poor defense.

Took the second period off to do my stretches and get a walk in. Good choice by me.

Ask Joe Marino how he fixes the power play without improving the top 6. They need a playmaking center on the roster.

Knowing Adams and his past, Levi is the plan B, with Reimer as a 3rd option to start the season.
