  1. Taking his C away now is like assigning him the blame and that blame should fall on Kevyn Adams. The C means little on a team with no winning culture and very little pride. It’s probably more of a hinderance. The best player on the team is not the problem. Wanna win? Get some better players.
  2. @DarthEbriate has been placed on IR due to exhaustion. The team sent him to warmer climate, with palm trees, for rest and rehab.
  3. Yes, I also meant trading NHL players for more picks, and then sitting on the picks. Which is our cycle right now.
  4. Its the middle of the 2023 season. The Bill have many injuries and need veteran help at CB. Beane gets this guy for a 3rd round pick and he has been their starter ever since. This is the mind set we need on the Sabres. First, the GM takes action to fix a problem. Second, the player fits. I don't know if Rasul Douglas had this mindset before he got here, or learned it since he got here, but it is the EXACT one the Sabres need. Blowing leads because something bad happened is avoidable.
  5. The bold is the way to build a Cup winner. You have to get in the upper echelon first. Looking for short cuts won't work because this team doesn't attract the right players. Once you get to the top tier good players will come here and you can fine tune from there. A top 8 team in Buffalo, one that is a contender every year, will bring fans back and attract new ones. Winning games needs to be the priority again. Not draft picks.
  6. I think we can move Byram and Cozens in separate deals (may need to add some sweeteners) and bring in a few players rather than trade both for EP, who scares me as being another high paid but talented floater.
  7. Agree that move need to made. I worry that EP will find Buffalo is good place to coast.
  8. They should be playing for personal pride. To win, to get better. For something to carry forward. To entertain their fans.
  9. Come to Buffalo to be the best version of yourself. Works for McDermott.
  10. Good research. Way too much thrust on Cozens from the start.
  11. Sounds similar to the Marco Scandella trade. We got a 4th from Montreal, once they fell out of the race they traded him to St Louis for a 2nd at the deadline. Not sure any salary retention was involved. Timing is everything.
  12. resigns or re-signs?
  13. Great game. Bills with a solid game against a game opponent that came in prepared and well coached. No surprise on the results but you have to play the games. Next week is the 3rd toughest game of the season. Assuming we get two more after that.
  14. It just doesn't work that way.
  15. Probably. But the thought that the young players did not learn an NHL system under Granato is not at all far fetched. Name another HC that teaches offense first and then adds defense the next season?
  16. I sure did not "demographic differences" from her comments. Explain to me how the demographic differences in the fans impact the way you run the teams? Fans want to win no matter their what demographic they fit in. Did the fan demographics tell them the Sabres fans would tolerate a bad product better than Bills fans? But maybe that is part of the problem? The team owners looking at things like fan demographics, for whatever their reason, and not looking at hiring the best qualified people to run the hockey team? Please elaborate.
  17. I see a guy who is pouring it out every game and being a solid teammate. Maybe he is smart enough to stay out of cliques? He is the man among boys. Because he has been so solid I actually hope they move him to a contender and he gets a shot at the Cup. I can't see him staying here beyond this season. I guess he could come back if they overpay.
  18. Some one will counter with the improbable "all they need to do is win 10 in a row!"
  19. They released the lowly video coach so I am betting his contract was up. They moved Matty Ellis off of the bench and to some other coaching job, so he was probably still under contract. This team is run on a tight budget. They did promote Forton in title, not sure he does anything different. Adams added McLeod and Zucker. Two decent moves. I always liked Zucker's game but did not expect him to play this well. Zucker is first player I would pick to have a private conversation with about the team. I think that would be fascinating and I bet he has some excellent and constructive insight into what they need. The lost another bad home game. I have to keep reminding myself that this team might need just a few key deletions and a few key additions to take a step forward.
  20. Which was proven by the Byram for Mitts trade. I really think we have the more impactful player in Byram over Mitts. But our record shows that the trade didn't make the team better. The team is very weak at center, and we have the luxury of three top 4 LHD puck movers. Byram will want to get paid this off season. If we had a GM that could flip him for center that is equal to or better than Mitts I will let this go. But I am still baffled by the way this roster is constructed.
  21. The opponent does not give up and pushes back. Which happened yesterday. The Kracken have a lot of vets that are not used to losing to the Sabres over their careers. They made that known again.
  22. None of this has anything to do with fans. Any talk of differences in fan bases in a small place like Buffalo is off base. The Sabres problem is 100% bad ownership. Fans are going to vent. I also post on the Bills TSW. The Bills are very successful right now, yet you can count more fans over there hating on McDermott than there are regulars posting on this site. The Sabres have lost a significant portion of their fan base. Thats the fruit of 14 years of losing and disfunction.
